Okay I need everyone to ignore this cause I’m about to be deep about Pokémon starters and I will be annoying about it

Ok so with the announcement of the new starters for wind and waves I have seen the usual discourse about keeping one Pokémon (Pombon) on all fours. And like I do understand the sentiment and this is not what I’m here to complain about.
What I am here to complain about is how I’ve seen people taking about previous Pokémon starters and how game freak has designed starter evolutionary lines. I have seen a lot of people complain and really dig on these Pokémon and here’s my issue: you don’t know which starter is someone’s favorite.
I remember when I was playing Pokémon white on my Nintendo and I picked Oshawott. I remember thinking he was so cute and adorable and I remember when he finalized his evolutions. I remember seeing Samurott and being sad that my small Oshawott and Dewott were gone. But that sadness was temporary and was quickly replaced with happiness. Why, you might ask? Because he was my starter, that I picked, that I have cared for all this time, that I leveled up. I love him not because he’s cute but because he’s mine and I care for him.
And I can imagine some Pokémon fan going on the internet and seeing a large number of people shitting on their favorite starter and I just think y’all should shut up
So just because you don’t like the starter doesn’t mean you need to bitch about it. No one is forcing you to pick that starter, no one is forcing you to play the game. But other people probably like that starter and there is no reason to make think pieces about how a certain starter is the worse starter. Just shut up
