Amending love - A Denki x fem! reader oneshot
Synopsis: Denki has always been there to help you overcome your relationship with Bakugo but hereās the thingā¦.. heās had enough. He canāt handle seeing you get mistreated by Bakugo and being your uplifter only for you to run back to him and for the cycle to repeat itself so he decides that itās best for the both of you to put your friendship on hold. But will this really help clear things between you guys or have the ties been forever severed by Bakugo?

Your friendship with Denki was in limbo as of right now. You hadnāt expected your relationship with Bakugo to dampen it, but here you were putting up a front every time he was near and it was killing you. It all just happened so suddenly.Ā
Bakugo had hit you again after screaming at you cause he was in a bad mood, so you went seeking Ā for Denki since he always knew how Ā to cheer you up. It was all going well until you two got a little too close for comfort causing Denki Ā to get uncomfortable and when you tried to ask him what was wrong he broke.
āWhatās wrong?Ā ā You asked concerned when Denki had suddenly stopped playing the game you guys were on and moved away from you.
āNothing Sparks Iām fineā He saysĀ Ā avoiding the question and brushing off your concernĀ
āDenki come onā, You say insistently āTell me whatās wrongā
āDrop it Y/nā He says starting to get slightly angered by your persistenceĀ
āKaminari tell me please thereās clearly something wrong so just say itā You get up grasping him by the wrist to prevent him from leaving your room.
āSparks let me goā He says under his breath trying to keep his keep himself togetherĀ
āNot until you tell me whatās bothering youā You argue
āI canātĀ ā He mutters
āWhat?ā You say confusedĀ
āI CANāT DO THIS ANYMOREā Ā He finally snapped, making you step back in surprise .
āI just canāt keep doing this anymoreā He startsĀ
āBakugo always hurts you and I ALWAYS make you feel better only for you to go running back to himā Ā He tells you evidently hurtĀ
āItās like an endless loop that thereās no way ofĀ ā He clenched his fists.
Itās not fair Y/n, I treat you more like a boyfriend then he ever has, and yet youāre STILL with himā .Ā
You now stare at the floor to ashamed of yourself to look him in eye. How could you not see he was feeling like this?
āWhatās even worse is thatāā¦. He takes a breath āIām in love with youĀ ā
āA-and I know itās wrong because both you and Bakugo are my closest friends so I canāt do anything and instead I have to settle for watching you two be together when time and time again Bakugo only sees you as someone he can take his anger out onĀ ā He states in a rather shaky breath,a frown forming on his face.
All this was falling onto you like a bucket of ice cold water , your eyes widened as you tried to intake the confession. Tears started to form in your eyes as you finally spoke shakily.
āI-Iām sorry Iām so sorry for putting you through all t-this pain. Denkiās frown grew as you continue. If I had realized m-maybe we could have avoided thisā You cried harderĀ ā Maybe I wouldnāt have lost youĀ ā
Denki sighed before approaching you and putting his hands on your shoulders. āY/n donāt say that look at meĀ ā
You continue to cry looking at the floor. Denki lifts your chin forcing you to look at him. āHey donāt cry sparks you havenāt lost me and you never willā. āWeāll still be friendsā. He reassured you while wiping your tears awayĀ
āYou s-sure?ā You asked him hesitantlyĀ
āYeah I promiseā¦. I just need timeā He says reassuring you once again.
āOkay then Iāll see you around Y/nā Was the last thing he said before leaving you to process your thoughts more.

So now here you were, in a one-sided relationship with Bakugo and trying to keep thingsĀ ānormalā between you and Denki. But it was Ā impossible, Denki made it seem so easy. He still spoke to you sureā¦.but it just didnāt feel the same to you .He toned down the playful demeanor he had around you and spoke rather nonchalantly whenever you two engaged in conversation like the confession had never happened.
It was like he was a completely different person when around you. But you didnāt want any of it. You wanted him to joke around with you. You wanted to argue with him about the littlest things only for you both to burst out into a fit of laughter right after. The cheesy nicknames, the nonsensical conversationsā¦..You needed it. ALLĀ of it. But it was gone, all because you couldnāt see what you put him through and a truthfully nonexistentĀ ārelationshipā
You couldnāt even bring yourself to complain about it because you knew it was only going to cause you a bigger problem. Except there was only so much you could handle your and guilt was consuming you . It was all too much and you were about to break.

It was the weekend, Bakugo and you were in his room cuddling and watching a movie. However you werenāt focused on the movie. No, you were thinking about that day that turned your world upside down and how you wished that things were different.
You glanced over at your boyfriend, Bakugo looked uninvested and angered. As if didnāt care about being there. Despite the fact that he was your so called boyfriend and this was what you guys did on weekends. Not to mention you guys cuddled on a daily basis.Ā
āGod what am I doing?ā You thought to yourself as you tried focusing on the movie once more.
It was no use, you finally caved to your thoughts and desperately needed to vent .
āUm ā¦ Katsuki?ā You said trying not to sound desperateĀ
āHmā He answered not bothering to look at youĀ
āI uh ā¦ā¦need to go talk to Jiro about about something Iāll be back.ā You told him.
āYeah yeah, whateverā He says as he lets you goĀ Ā
You sigh heavily as you climb off the bed and leave his room. Taking out your phone you opened up the message app and scroll through the the contacts until you reached Jiroās name. Opening up the conversation you started typing:
She responded shortly afterĀ
[Jiro]: Yeah hanging with Mina rn! Why?
[You]: I need to talk to you about somethingĀ
[Jiro]: Oh okay! Come on over to my dormĀ
[You]: Thx! Iāll be right thereĀ
With that final text you quickly headed to Jiroās room. Taking a deep breath you knocked on her door she opened it and stepped to the side letting you enter.
āHeya Y/n!ā Mina happily greetedĀ
āOh uh hey Minaā You said as you waved at her giving her a half smile trying to seem somewhat happyĀ
Jiro saw through this however and decided to find out what was really going on with you.
āSo what did you want to talk about Y/nā Jiro asked as she sat back down on her bed next to Mina.
āWell umā¦.you seeā You start out as you nervously fiddle with your hairĀ
āItās about Kaminariā You say glancing at them
āKaminari?!ā Mina asked confusedĀ
āDo I need to go yell at him for doing something stupid againā Jiro said as she rolled her eyesĀ
You laugh slightly. āNo donāt worry itās just thatāā¦.
āUgh whatās taking her so long?ā Bakugo thought Ā as you were taking according to him, way too long to come back. So he decided to go and see what held you up because surely a conversation didnāt take THAT longā¦. Right?
He had made it to Jiroās room and was about to peek in to ask if you were done talking but perked up once he heard his name.
āThis is also about Katsukiā You told them.
āWaitā¦.BAKUGO?!ā Both Mina and Jiro exclaimed You noddedĀ
āWhat did I do now?ā Bakugo thought angrily as he now leaned against the hallway wall to listen in.Ā Ā
Mina and Jiro exchanged worried glances, they were always doubtful of your relationship. Of course they trusted you and respected your decision to date him. After all, it had started off pretty well Bakugo even seemed to be in a better mood. But lately it had been obvious to pretty much everyone that your relationship had changed and the only reason that no one said anything about it is because they didnāt want to upset you since you genuinely loved Bakugo. Despite hisā¦.. additude problem.
āY/n did something happen? Mina asked worriedlyĀ
You couldnāt take it anymore. You cried as you explained everything. How Bakugo had hurt you and how Denki had confessed his feelings towards you and how much it hurt him to see you with someone who he knew didnāt really love you, your guilt seeping through your mind.
āHe confessed?!ā Mina shouted in utter shockĀ
āMINA!!!ā Jiro shouted as she elbowed her. āNot the timeā
āRight sorryā Mina said apologetically while rubbing her side
āIām such an idiot! You said as you criedĀ
The girls looked at you with sadness in their eyes. They hated seeing you racked with guilt. Especially since none of this was your fault.
āY/n donāt yourself over this baeā Mina said as she had you sit down and rubbed your back in an attempt to console you.Ā
āYeah you had no idea how Denki felt about youā Jiro said as she handed you some tissues.Ā
āEven so I hurt him and he kept it all hidden just because I was happy!āYou frustratingly state while running a hand through your hair.Ā
āWhat am I going to do?ā
āY/n listenā Mina beganĀ
āNo matter what happens youāll get through this. We promiseā Ā Jiro assured
āThanks girlsā You hugged the two girls as you smiled relieved to finally get some stress off you.Ā
Meanwhile, Bakugo quietly fumed as he walked back his room. How dare you keep this from him? And how DARE Denki want to have something that was his?! Bakugo was going to take matters into his own hands.
āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāā
It had been a rather stressful couple weeks for all of you as finals had rolled around and you all worked hard to try and cover everything since the final was going to determine whether you passed or failed and ended up with remedial classes and NO ONE wanted to go through that again. Especially not Denki so Ā he had asked you to help him out to which you agreed because despite your friendship still being on aĀ ātightropeā of sorts, you now felt a bit better talking to Denki and you knew he struggled to learn things and he had always trusted you to walk him through things in a way he could understand them and he would always be grateful for that.
āThanks again for helping me out Y/n, I really donāt want to end up in remedial classes againā.ā Those were HELL to go through.ā Denki said as he sat down on the floor of the common room in front of the coffee table.
āNo problem Denki!ā You said as you sat down next to him. āAfter all, what kind of person would I be if I neglected to help even a Pikachu with one brain cellā You joked.
āHey! I thought we were passed thatā. Denki whined as he punched you lightly in the armĀ
āAs if!āĀ You said as you both laughedĀ
As Denkiās laughter subsided he looked over at you. He had forgotten how much he missed this, joking around with you and seeing you genuinely smile at him. Heād be lying if he said he hadnāt felt horrible acting around you when all he wanted was to be able to hang with you again.
āDenki you okay?ā You asked him as you noticed him staring at you.
āHuh? Oh! Yeah sorry Y/nā He said as he snapped out of his thoughts rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
āItās just that ā¦. I missed this you know?ā He said as he looked at you nervouslyĀ
You gave him a small smile in return. āYeah I did tooāĀ
He sighs. Ā Iām sorry Y/n, I just thought that if I gave you spaceā¦ā¦ maybe you could better your relationship with Bakugo but -
āKami, itās okay I understandĀ ā You assured himĀ
āBut if Iām being honest with you Ā I think my relationship with Katsuki is not working anymore and I should have realized that a long time ago. If anything I should be the one apologizing to you for not considering your feelings every time I came over to you to get through my issues with Bakugoā You admit looking down at your hands resting on your knees.
āDonāt worry about that Y/n for all I know, thatās now behind us and besides what kind of person would I BE if I didnāt stay friends with the person who thinks Pikachu is cuter than meĀ ā He joked making you roll your eyesĀ
āHe is thoughā You stated smuglyĀ
āOuch!ā He said as he brought a hand to his heart faking hurt. āWhy must you betray me like this?āĀ He asked posing dramaticallyĀ
You burst out laughing. āOkay drama queen enough messing around letās get this over withā You said as you brought out your notebook.

It had now been about three hours and Denki had been just about ready to drive his head straight into the table in defeat.
āUgh who thought inventing math was a good ideaā Said an unenthused Denki as he rested his head on his arms
āCome on Denki donāt give up yet!ā You said trying to encourage him.Ā
āForget it Y/n! I mean even Yaomomo canāt figure this out and sheās the top student in our class!ā He yelled out in frustration.
You sigh at your disillusioned friend Okay okay, then how bout a snack? You proposeĀ
āYes please!ā He begs āI need energy after I fried my brainā
You roll your eyes Stop being so dramatic will you? Iāll Ā be right back . You said as you went to the kitchen.
Just then Bakugo walks in and sees Denki. Taking the opportunity to confront him while your distracted, he called Denki over.
Oi Kaminari! Bakugo yelledĀ
Denki jumped a bit before whipping his head around as he hadnāt heard or seen Bakugo coming in.
āMe?ā He said as he looks around before pointing at himself. Bakugo shook his head. āIs there ANYONE else here idiot? He asked angrily . Yes you come over here.
Denki got up and walked over a very stern Bakugo. He gulped before speaking. āNeed something?ā
āYeah I doā, Whatever you got going on with Y/n quit it!ā HeĀ demandsĀ
What?! Denki asks confusedĀ
āOh donāt try and play dumb dunce faceĀ ā I can hear you both goofing off all the way from my room.ā I also know about how you two had been hanging out in her roomĀ ā. He tells him.Ā
āOkay first of allā, Denki begins. āThereās nothing going on between me and Y/n so get that out your headā. āSecond of all, Y/nās allowed to hangout with whoever regardless of what YOU think ā He argues as he starts to walk back to the table.
Bakugoās blood boiled as he looks at Denki with rage in his eyes. Now heās in for it .
Just as Denki was about to sit back down. Bakugo grabbed him and was ready to suck the life right out of him. Until you walked back in surprisedĀ
āBakugo?ā āDenki?ā āWhatās going on?ā You ask surveying the scene. Bakugo is quick to let go of Denki and cover up what was going on.
āNothing babe! I was just asking dunce face here how it was going and looking for a snackĀ ā He says faking a smile and put an arm around Denki. āRight dunce face?ā
Denki chuckles to go along with it. Yup!Ā
āOkay thenā¦.ā You say rather skepticallyĀ
Bakugo unhooked himself from Denki and excuses himself to the kitchen. But not before telling Denki not to tell you anything.
āThat was weirdā You said as you sat on one of the couchās armrests and grabbed a snack mix bag and handed another one to Denki as he sat on the end of the couch next to you.
āYeah super weirdā¦.heheā He said as he took the snack bag from youĀ Ā
You looked at him suspiciously. You knew that unsure tone of his, it was the tone had the day you guys fought a couple months back.
He jumped startled. āYup! Heās DEFINITELY hiding somethingā You thought. Denki wasnāt the type to get startled, not that easily. Unless he was hiding somethingā¦.. and you werenāt going to let him this time.
āHey Katsu can you come here for a minute?ā You calledĀ
He walked out of the kitchen with the snack he had come downĀ ālooking forā and looks at you as you hop down from the armrest you had been sitting on as you stand in front of them crossing your arms.
āWhat's he hiding from me Katsuki? You asked him while pointing at Denki, he panics and starts getting defensive. āHOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?!ā He argues Ā
You scoff. āDrop the act you OBVIOUSLY said something Bakugo otherwise Denki wouldnāt be struggling to hide it from meā You said as you pointed towards the other blonde who wished to be swallowed by the ground at this precise moment.
āI aināt saying anything.ā Bakugo says as he clenched his fists.
You sigh. āFine then, donāt Iāll just force it outā You state sternly.
Both the boys eyes widened, they knew that if you used your quirk on them theyād be screwed. So Bakugo had no other choice but to relent.
āFine!ā Bakugo yelled
āWellā¦. Iām waiting!ā You say slightly angryĀ
āStop hanging out with him!Ā ā He demanded pointing towards Denki. You glare at BakugoĀ
āWhy should I?!āĀ
āBecause you are solely MINEā He declaresĀ
āExcuse YOU?! Just because weāre together doesnāt mean you own me Bakugo!ā You defendĀ
āAnd heck! You donāt even look like you care anymoreāĀ
āI do CAREĀ ā He spatĀ
āOh really?!ā You ask skeptically āCause for these last COUPLE MONTHS Kaminari has been filling in for YOUR job as myĀ āboyfriendā while all you have done is use me as an ANGER OUTLET! If you really cared you wouldnāt do that now would you?!ā You said as tears formed in your eyes.
Denki stood up making his way over putting an arm around you for comfort. You take a breath before continuing. āHe hid how felt and distanced himself from me thinking it would make our relationship better.ā
Bakugo was in absolute shock. He stood there trying to think of words to counter you argument. Nothing came out, it was like he knew there was no repair for this.
āFunny isnāt it?āĀ āKaminari told me you didnāt really love me but I refused to believe it because I still thought you loved me and would change.ā You said as you gave Bakugo a sad smileĀ
āNow I understand why people say love is blind, because you canāt tell youāre with the wrong personā
Bakugo avoids eye contact with you as he is disgusted with himself. You wipe your tears as you gather up your stuff and take Denkiās hand in yours heading to the stairs and start making your way up to the dorm.Ā Ā But not before telling Bakugo one last thingā¦.. āI loved you Katsuki I really did, and I hope that deep down you did too.ā
With that, you made your way up to the dorms, pulling Denki with you. Leaving Bakugo to contemplate with the fact that he had lost you as a single tear rolled down his face. Meanwhile you and Denki had gotten to your room .Ā
You let go of Denkiās hand and went inside as he went in right after. He sat on your bed as he watched you close the door and lean against it as you let out a heavy sigh.
āYou okay?ā He askedĀ
You walked over to your bed and sat down next to him. āIāll get over it and itāll be a while before I talk normally with Katsuki but yeah Iāll be fineā You assured him with a small smile which he promptly returned.
You stayed in silence for a few minutes before you spoke. āYa know?ā You start out. Once I feel better about this and we BOTH PASS finals would you maybe want to ya knowā¦.. go out? You asked nervously.
Denki stared at you agape. Had he fried his brain on accident or had you just asked him out?Ā āY/n are you sure about this?ā He asked āI mean you JUST broke up with Bakugoā He said and you facepalm. āYeah thatās what I said after finals you doofus, so we can properly think things over and I can recoverĀ ā He awkwardly laughs .
āIn that case sparks, yes Iād love toā He admitted as he held your hands with a slight blush tinting his cheeks. You smiled hearing the return of the familiar nickname he had given you.

In the end all is well, you and Denki both passed finals much to Aizawaās shock (heās proud though!)Ā meaning no remedial classes and being able to go on your first official date where you become a couple, giving everybody relief since pretty much everyone knew how into each other you were. As for Bakugo, heās also happy for you two and working hard to make amends. As your relationship as one sided as it was taught him somethingā¦ā¦. Love isnāt something to be taken for granted and if works to better himself he too will find love again.
