âRegarding setting, the court held that both works taking place in Alaska high schools was not protectable because Alaska is a public place and setting a teen novel in a high school is a common genre convention.â
What video game can you not complete without cheat codes?
Feed your dashboard by answering my question, blogger.
Surprisingly I've never used cheat codes for any games I've played to complete them, but I think the closest I've ever come to using cheats to finish a game was for Stardew valley. In part because I don't have the patience to make all that money. I'm too busy talking to the pretty emos.
âaverage person eats 3 spiders a yearâ factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
Technus made a VR headset!
It's being sold to ghosts, as a ghost-only product, and Danny is very excited.
It's powered by the users ecto, and has been peer reviewed by not just Point Dexter, but also Walker and Ember and the Box Ghost. It's not a trap!
It's just Technus raking in payment in the form of old and new tech from across all dimensions for his lair in return for one of the headsets!
Danny makes sure the anti-ghost system in the house is off, that his door is locked, and slips on the VR headset in preparation for something phenominal. So far, there's only one game, but it's very popular among ghosts.
[Welcome, User P H A N T O M. Please select a sigil to determine your starting point.]
Danny selects the picture of...hmm. What to choose, what to choose.
He chooses...the lightning bolt.
Danny blinks and he's staring up at a strange woman.
Danny very quickly finds out that while this game is super popular with ghosts, for someone like Danny, who's half living? Kind of boring.
Because it's a life simulator.
It's like if a bunch of orcs and wizards played DnD, but the game was about working in an office.
In this particular simulation, he's the son of a single mother, who he apparently takes after; black hair, blue eyes. When he grows up he isn't gonna look any different from how he does IRL.
Sooo...no character customization. Damn.
He gets named Daniel, because obviously?
His life is painfully mundane; he has no powers, he's just an average human. Which is a pity, because in this world/server there's other heroes with super powers, and he would have loved to have been able to join in on their shenanigans.
He wakes up. He plays. He eats. He goes to sleep.
Then he gets old enough to go to school, which. Ugh. Not again.
New routine. wake up, school, go home, snacks, homework, sleep.
He makes a few friends, but not really. It's hard to be friends with NPCs, after all.
Then he hits ten, and uh.
He has a power?
Super speed. He has super speed.
His mother breaks down crying when she sees him disappear and reappear on the other side of the room.
He's the second Flash's son, who said man has no idea exists.
After that is a whirlwind of trying to pretend he doesn't have powers, slipping up, getting involved in a fight, outing himself, getting him and his mom absorbed into the Flash family by osmosis, and after about five more years, he's essentially forgotten that this is a VR game.
Then his dad is about to take a hit, and Danny dives in front, tanking it.
Danny dies in his father's arms, only for the oncoming peace of death to be interrupted with
[GAME OVER. ONE TIME USAGE COMPLETE.]
Danny bolts upright, hands on his chest, panting.
Wait, game over? Right, right, the VR headset.
No, wait...one time usage?! What a rip off!
Danny hides his grief at losing his NPC family behind the rage of the one time usage, and pretends the tears leaking out of his eyes are from fury.
~~~~~~
Wally clutches the broken body of his son, trying so, so hard not to snap.
He'd only had Danny for five years.
Five fucking years. He'd missed most of Danny's life, and...and because of one stupid fucking mistake, because he hadn't been good enough...
Wally feels his body begin to distort, the Speedforce responding to his rage with an otherworldly indifference to what rules of reality his body is supposed to obey.
Danny has to be alive, in at least one reality.
Wally is going to find him, consequences be damned.
TLDR; Technus makes a one time use headset for ghosts to get to live another life, and neglects to mention that it's actually temporarily removing their consciousness and placing it into people who otherwise wouldn't be alive.
Danny thinks it was just a game.
To his grieving Speedster father he gained in that reality, however, it very much was not a game, and the man is currently on his way to Danny's home reality after going on a grief bender that would make Batman blush.
Danny was a quiet kid, always had been, unobtrusive, smart, in fact many told her her son was very gifted.
He picked up everything so fast in class, soaked up knowledge like a sponge. But per the advice of others she did have him tested for autism, because her boy was distant, some teachers called it detached.
Like he just didnât care about the people around him.
It had been a huge source of worry right up until his tenth birthday and her boy discovered his gift of superspeed.
It was like a switch had been flipped, like heâd been waiting his whole life for that to happen.
Danny was still Danny of course, still loved space and wanting to be an astronaut, still a gamer, still a fan of indie rock bands.
But after that there was a sparkle in his eyes that hadn't been there. He stood up straighter, started mumbling a lot less.
How could she not support him every step of the way? brainstorming suit designs and hero names, (in the end Danny had settled on Redline after âto cross the red lineâ) Soon stepped in during a big fight and next thing they knew he was meeting his father and his extended family and their little world suddenly got so much bigger, so much more complicated.
But he thrived, her boy was so happy.
And then came that awful, awful dayâŠ
God her boy was only fifteen years old.
The other members in the Flash family tried their hardest to comfort her but she wasnât ashamed to admit that she completely withdrew within herself in an attempt to cope.
Mothers shouldnât outlive their sons, not even if their sons were superheroes.
So⊠When eventually Wally showed up in front of her, telling her he found a way to fix it, fix everything, he just needed a little blood, she hadnât really questioned any of it.
âYouâll bring my boy back?â
âIâll bring our boy home, yes.â
âBut you need my blood?â
âOur blood, yeah,â he shows off a little vial heâs already got from himself, âitâs to track him down, after that it should just be a quick run on the cosmic treadmill and-â
Well she doesnât know about all that but if he can bring their son back.
âAlright, how do I-?â
The how didnât matter, She knows these heroes perform miracles on the regular.Â
âOnce heâs back heâs so groundedâ She says.
Wally snorts, but it sounds choked up and rather wet.
The funeral is small, just the family and close friends.
Itâs a windy and dreary affair, but no rain, which Wally thinks is unfair.
If itâs going to be cloudy and depressing at least have it rain, now itâs just miserable and there will be no stars.
Danny loves- loved the stars.
he wipes his hand over his eyes and decides to just leave it there for a while. Why is it that he constantly finds himself wishing to be faster only to then wish everything would just slow down already.
Five years is not enough.
Itâs not enough.
An arm wraps around his shoulders, itâs firm and heavy and for a moment he thinks itâs Dick but a look to the side reveals that itâs Roy.
The look on his face is hard to decipher and⊠Ah, yeah of course, that makes sense.
Wally turns to lean further into him.
âDoes it get easier to handle?â Wally canât help but ask him, dreading the answer.
Roy doesnât say anything at all. Which he guesses is answer enough.
The silence stretches and then,
âDonât do something youâre going to regret.â
âI wasnât-â
âI know what youâre actually capable of, Fleetfeet. You already beat that guy to near death.â
Roy squeezes Wallyâs shoulder tighter, âyou will have thoughts, they will sound like great ideas but I can tell you right now Danny isnât going to want any of that.â
Wally clenches his teeth and hisses into Royâs shoulder, âDanny is dead. He doesnât want anything anymoreâ
Finding a way to trace a soul had been worryingly easy, getting what he needed to actually do so also had not been hard, avoiding his friends without raising too much suspicion and then staying ahead of the family so he can actually pull this off had been a little tricky, but doable.
Heâs not going to cause a Flashpoint guys, he lived the consequences of Barryâs fuckup dammit, and all the crap that came after, heâs still struggling with thinking about anything having to do with Sanctuary.
Anyway, no, getting on the treadmill and going had actually been the easy part.
Turns out, strap in this is a doozy, turns out going down this road would trigger Black Flash.
Which is just great, fantastic.
Wally figures it makes sense, Danny died⊠and heâs now actively trying to undo it in a sense, heâs kinda cheating, Like, he is trying really hard to just not think at all about the morality of alternate-reality-son-taking.
Heâs pretty sure there is a movie where a guy did that⊠it didnât end well for the guy, or his daughter⊠or the entire reality.
 ⊠but thatâs for future Wally to deal with!
Wally is going to get his son back and this fast zombie is just going to have to suck it!
That being said he would really like it if speed corpse could back off a bit⊠finding Danny with that thing hot on his heels is difficult, staying ahead is using up a lot of his thinking which means there is not much left for looking around, finding, grabbing and then going back home (yes thatâs basically the plan now).
Things get incredibly messy when Wally gets cornered and he has to think of something quick, quick, now, to deal with Black Flash or else-
There is a flash of green light, for one delirious moment Wally thinks a Green Lantern somehow followed him here, maybe Kyle, or Hal. But as he watches Black Flash take a bad hit from the green stuff there is a realization that it canât be them because Black Flash is for Speedsters, and nobody else.
Then Wally sees a boy with dark hair, holding his side as if injured but with one hand outstretched and a green glow still coming from his hand.
âFl-ash..?â the boy says, sounding slurred and confused. Meanwhile fast zombie is slowly getting back up.
âcanât-â Danny doesnât hesitate to hit him with another green energy attack, âhaaavvvv-â Black Flash starts dissolving, for a lack of a better term, into more green goop.
The sight of it would probably be traumatising if Wally bothered to look at it but instead heâs sped over to Dannyâs side.
Because this is Danny, same hair same eyes same age even, probably, and he recognized Wally! sorta, well he recognized Flash- does this reality have a Flash? Wally didnât really check actuallyâŠ
But heâs injured! Is that why Black Flash was after him? to stop him from saving his son?
âhey- hey donât worryâ Wally says as he speed checks over Dannyâs body for more injuries, the one on his side looks bad and burnt, like he got hit by some sort of energy weapon. âIâm here to help, weâll fix this.â And he will, or heâll die trying, any other outcome is completely unacceptable.
Danny starts saying, âhow-â when heâs interrupted by the sound of running footsteps. and then heâs scrambling, tugging at Wally, âgo! "We have to go!!â
Wally has a tight hold on Danny and pushes the boy behind him as two persons round the corner. Both wear full body hazmat suits, one in eye bleeding orange the other in less painful to look at teal. But both are wielding futuristic looking weaponry thatâs pointed directly at his son.
âSir! step away from the boy! He may look harmless but heâs a vile ghost in disguise!! heâs merely pretending to be a hurt teenager!âÂ
Wally blinks and slowly moves to hide even more of Danny behind him, âokay- how about-â
Danny whimpers, âDadâŠâ
Oh okay, okay yeah nevermind actually.
Wally completely misses the one in the teal suit say, âstop pretending to be our son you filthy spookâ as he hoists his boy up and speeds away.
Why even waste time trying to calm and talk down two obvious trigger happy lunatics, his son is hurt and in need of care. Once Danny is patched up he can just take him home where those two can never even hope to follow them. And then everything will be as it should be.
Vlad makes an appearance before Wally manages to wisk Danny back to his own reality.
"Oh little badger, I heard the tragic horrible news about your parents. Surely now you see that i-"
He finally actually looks at Wally.
Internally his brain is like "I believe in miracles. Since you came along, you sexy thing"
And after that he's just stuck bluescreening because, Gay? No, Bisexual??
Meanwhile Wally simultaneously wants to fight this Abra Kadabra looking weirdo and demand some answers and Danny is trying to get Wally away from Vlad as soon as possible cause nothing good will come out of this, that's for sure.
Wally recognized and Does Not Like that creepy, predatory tone this guy showed up and started talking to his son in. Wally is all the more determined to get his son out of this dimension as soon as he knows his body can handle the trip.
Long ago, when Wally had been lost in the Speedforce. Once he got out and rejoined everyone once again there had still been the issue of basically nobody remembering he ever existed before.
Back then the other Titans had their memories returned to them once they touched him.Â
Wally thinks something similar is happening to Danny right now.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that both Dannies seem to have the same soul, and now that Wally has come here the universe is trying to make it all make sense.
Either way, Danny is clearly carefully navigating two sets of memories and judging by how he talks about himself right now heâs startled that both sets are ârealâ.
Wally will be supportive and patient though, this is in his opinion the best case scenario because this really is his son still. And so far reality isnât pancaking and imploding in on itself sooo⊠allâs good!
Meanwhile as Wally carefully and gently takes care of the wound on his side, Danny doesnât know what to think anymore.
Now that his life can not go any more wrong he actually got rescued from his parents by his VR dad.
Wally West, the Flash, somehow came to life, or⊠or something, and is now a real person.Â
And he saved Danny and heâs now patching him up and heâs clearly very carefully trying to talk about who he is in relation to Danny.
Danny doesnât really want to think anymore about which life is real, which parents are real. Cause these are the facts, he had a dad that shot at him, and now he has a dad thatâs finished with the bandages and is awkwardly trying to tell him how his other mom misses him before backtracking cause that sounds weird, heâs being weird, if Danny needs a break then he can just shut up.
Danny doesnât want him to shut up. Instead he hugs Wally tight around the middle.Â
He wants to be held back, and his VR dad never disappoints.Â
He wants out of the absolute nightmare his life has become, he wants to go back to his VR life where both his parents love him with or without super powers.
Wally tells him everything is going to be alright, and Danny believes him because he really doesnât want to think about the alternative right now.
Danny is probably going along with this whole thing way too easilyâŠ
And then eventually of course Vlad had to ruin it.
âDracula smurf!?â he stammers, looking indignant. But whatâs actually more upsetting to Danny is that he clearly sees that Vlad doesnât seem as insulted as he should be.
Whatever is going through Vladâs head cannot be good, Danny has to shut it down here and now. âHeâs a weirdo fruitloop who is obsessed with me joining his sideâ
âDanielâ Vlad growls.
Wally frowns, âgot it, time to go then.â
And before Vlad can even start saying ânow wait just a moment,â the hottest guy heâd ever seen in his life had blinked out of existence with only faint electric crackling still in the air.
And Danny is gone too, thatâs the second thing Vlad realizes.
A quick sweep with his ghost senses reveals to him that this isnât a case of Danny just turning them invisible. The two of them are gone, gone.
I only hate certain types of fic the same way I hate mosquitos and ticks. Like get these nasty little buggers away from me but also I respect their place in the ecosystem.
Listen and sometimes? To enjoy running through a beautiful field of grass and flowers (ao3) you have to tolerate the fact that bugs (fics you donât like) are there and maybe you will even encounter one, but you can use bugspray (filtered tags) to reduce the likelihood of that. Because the alternative is not getting to experience the beautiful field of grass and flowers.
what hurts more when it comes to neglectful batfam that adopted you after jason's death (that eventually turns a 360 after you have left) is probably the fact that they always had time for you, it's just that they never chose to spend it on you; an extra burden to their family rather than an addition. if they had time to spend, they spend it on anything or anyone else but you. it's not that you don't share interests with them, it's just...! they have way more priorities that push you further back into their list of 'to do's'; though you know you'll always be the last of that list.
bruce has to juggle so many tasks as the billionaire playboy "brucie wayne", a father of an ever growing family, and gotham's dark knight vigilante but somehow, you're aware he could easily fit in one or two more children into his already booked scheduleâ he just never seems to consider you worthy enough apparently. or maybe it was because you were too silent, you set boundaries compared to your other family who are outspoken about what they want, what they needâ but there's one thing for sure that sets you off from your siblings; you're not a vigilante.
you were merely a child of a one night stand; a child raised too well. you were behaved, you never complained, and you were just, you. and being normal (at least in their level of extraordinary talents were you a mere droplet) amongst a family of talented individuals makes you easily a ghost. was bruce to blame with his neglect? definitely. if he was able to balance his life so easily, then maybe as the world's best detective would he notice you packing your things day by day without update. maybe that was why you never once hesitated the moment you stepped outside the manor, permanently.
dick's excuse would always be "sorry, baby bird! but i promised to spar with damian today. ah, but you can watch from the sidelines!" or he would be too busy saving bludhaven to even acknowledge your presence. sure, he smiles at you with those shiny teeth of his, but despite him looking at you, he never notices you for more than a second, right after he would skidadle his way to another sibling's room, bothering them to spend more time with him, never you though. it occurs to you that he has only entered your bedroom once, and that occurrence was years ago. even then, he didn't last a minute inside there before running away once more.
family matters more than anything to dick. hell, he was enraged at the announcement of jason's death and even beat joker to a bloody pulp when he realized tim fell into his hands. he's ready to defend damian, barbara, steph, cass, and duke with his life. it's his duty and obligation as the family's eldest brother, of course. but were you considered family to him? were you considered a sibling in his eyes, or were you just the resident roommate of the mansion? you question that endlessly because everyone, family and friends, seem to be smitted with dick, but you eventually gave up trying to vye for his attention. it's fine, really, if you were just another civilian to him, because he was just another person to you too. just like in a circus, you would always be the intermission rather than the main event. and with that, you take your leave.
jason was the most forgivable to you, second to tim. he was never there, and he would've probably put effort into spending time with you if not for the fact he despises bruce and the mansion and wouldn't and couldn't last a second stepping into it. he never met you when he was robin, it was only right after his death did he discover were you taken in and that added fact alongside tim being his replacement turned him bitter with resentment. though his hatred for you receded over time, he wouldn't really be caught taking a minute with you because he always sneaks inside the mansion and crime in gotham never seems to lessen. because of that, and your unwillingness to become a vigilante to kick ass with him and the others, he wouldn't be able to fully take an hour with you.
casual talks are unavoidable, though, when at the dead of the night he would be caught sneaking in to eat some leftovers and you were conveniently awake at the same time as him. he'll recommend you some classic literature he read or 'cafes/restaurants that criminals visit the least' lists, but before it would turn into a full conversation, jason would already be wearing his signature mask again, and with a pat on your head and a "talk to you soon, can't guarantee it'll be tomorrow again though, only here for alfred's meals of course," and he'll be gone. you shouldn't have let your hopes high, you wished you didn't because, duh! he wasn't there to talk to you, specifically. you were just there to bide his time! wiping tears away from your eyes, and with a heavy heart, you book an apartment away from the wayne manor with your own atm card; hope irreversibly dead and unable to revive a sliver of faith, even if it was dipped in the lazarus pit would it never come back as the same.
tim drake is always tired. just like bruce, his days are filled with investigation, crime fighting, and worst of all; high school. that's of course that least of his worries the moment he drops out. tim was never the guy to talk much. he only does when he needs to make an impression for others, or when he needs to manipulate people for potential information. his life revolved around fighting, from when he solved the case of bruce wayne and dick grayson being batman and robin respectively, up to his current identity as red robin and occasionally robin. he'll often be found in the batcave working with babs on a case or working alone in his room.
it's no mistake that you were the most distant to him, never once knowing about his interests or even hobbies and vice versa. it was a given that at the very moment you pass a glance at him, you knew it was a 'mind your business' type of relationship with him. if you were a mere ghost to dick, then you were just a spec of dust to tim. it was unfair to assume he would never care for you, he does! only in a way where you were another person to save if you ever were endangered, but would that be enough to stalk you to the point he gains every insight about you? not really. you weren't one of his friends, like kon who he would spend weekly video game challenges with; and you probably don't exist as his sibling in his own little world filled with coffee and computers. yeah, your feelings about leaving him weren't as bitter as the caffeine he drowns in his system, but you were still hurt either way.
damian wayne, from his birth, was taught and raised to prioritize his mission as an al ghul, to be the one continuing the legacy and to shed blood on anyone who opposes. when he was given over to bruce, it took a hell lot of effort to turn a new page and become the next robin. it was, with no doubt, that despite his 'redemption', he would be a tad bit crueler to you than the others. unlike tim, who he persistently bothers, you were untalented, worthless, and a stain on the reputation of the wayne's. even jason, his father's greatest mistake, had more value than you.
maybe it was fine-tuned jealousy, maybe he was mirroring his father and dick's actions towards you with his own sick twist of violence. either way, you would rather avoid the boy, lest you face the wrath of his sword. it wouldn't be wrong if you came to hate him, actually you do, but despite your endless game of cat and mouse with you as the unwilling victim of the chase, your poor heart couldn't fathom the thought of not excusing his actions as that of a child's. you tell yourself everyday, 'just ignore it, he was raised like as to be a menace after all' but you can't deny the bitterness and the clenching of your teeth whenever you stumble upon a room and see your father and your younger brother watching a movie together. the resentment eventually builds up until you blow up and just, give up. within your final moments in the manor, you figured to leave some belongings that you collected overtime that were supposedly memorabilias that you wish to show off to your family. like his pieces of art, you could only explain your life in the family as black and white and as bleak as the streaks of charcoal that rubs against the pages.
when dick was jogging through the desolate halls of the manor, he noticed the place seemed to be more... empty of some sort. and he knows pushing that feeling into the back of his head would only result in more questions than answers. so he decides to enter the spare rooms one by one until he comes across your room (he doesn't know it was yours, though), turning the knob without knocking.
that was when his eyes seem to dilate. his nose catched a faint whiff of bleach (was the room deep-cleaned?), vision seemingly closing in on the few furniture left alongside a diary and other boxes left neatly on your bed, with other smaller trinkets left untouched on your bedside table. he didn't remember you mentioning anything about leaving, hell, he doesn't want to admit his lack of memories about you butâ
wait...
didn't he promise to take you out for dinner months ago...?
reblogs and interactions are encouraged and appreciated.
a/n: this is one of my favorite pieces of writing i have ever done and i like it a lot so i hope whoever reads this likes it too. if you all want to read more of this, then please leave a comment or reblog because i heavily appreciate it and it motivates me further to write this type of content! the reason i have come to a long hiatus is because, as stated, the lack of interaction with content. like i said, i will still write for genshin but i am open to expanding my fandom list. I just finished binge reading your OMORI x TWST fic and I was curious if you had any headcannons that youâre willing to share.
Personally, iâve just been going along with the vibe that Sunnyâs a pretty boy and probably wouldâve been mistaken for a pomfiore student at first glance.
I love that headcanon, it would probably only happen after he's a bit more healthy but I might just have to add that in lol
I do have a few hcs of my own tho!
I hc that sunny doesn't have the best coordination with being half blind so he often walks into his friends or doesn't have the best reaction time when things come from his left, So Grim always walks on sunnys left to fill his blindspot :D
I also hc that sunny has selective mutism and will only speak when he knows nobody else besides certain people he trusts are in earshot, this leads to some people sorta forgetting he's there until he's mentioned or does something to bring attention to himself ( Im not selective mute and I don't know everything about it so if I'm wrong with my definition of it pls feel free to correct me )
Thatâs actually so cute, I love that Grim fills in Sunnyâs blind spot. Probably does it after noticing that Sunny is a little slow on that side and decided that he needs to be there to help see where sunny cannot.
The selective mutism thing honestly is great, Iâm not selectively mute myself but I think it helps make moments where Sunny does speak much more special.
Honestly, those made me have even more thoughts now. Imagine Sunny doesnât really like pastel colours because they remind him of the dreamworld or doesnât like certain things that remind him of his past.
Yes, and Iâve spoken to my therapist about it, who offered an explanation:
She says that people who from a young age were made to feel like they kept doing things wrong - people whoâs parents had impossibly high standards for them, people who were bullied, people who have special needs, people who didnât develop crushes on the ârightâ people, people who didnât act like the ârightâ gender - basically ended up being made to feel guilty so much that guilt became their default response to everything. Guilt became the emotional response to anything which the person didnât already have a set emotion for.
People for whom guilt is the default emotional response are also more likely to have low self-esteem, doubt their own experiences, and experience impostor syndrome. So, watch out for that too guys
