Him: People always go on about finding Cleopatraâs tomb but they are completely forgetting the circumstances of her death. She killed herself so that she could not be paraded through Egypt and Rome by the Romans, and its unlikely she would have wanted her body to suffer the same humiliation, so itâs reasonable to assume that her body would have been destroyed before the conquering forces got there. Moreover, even if that failed, the Romans would never give her a proper Egyptian burial and would have either destroyed her body or saw that it was disposed of without honours, ie in a pauperâs grave. It is therefore incredibly unlikely that we shall ever find the tomb of Cleopatra, and indeed, that it ever existed in the first place.
