Checking the grocery list on his phone while walking, Iwaizumi made sure he’d bought everything his mom had wanted him to get. Honestly, it was becoming too much of a habit of hers to just not go shopping and let Iwaizumi take care of it with a last minute grocery run. He guessed it couldn’t be helped though and it wasn’t like he minded helping his mom out a bit.

The ringing of a bicycle bell caught him off guard and he snapped his head to the side just as a girl ran right into him, his bag slipping out of his fingers and falling to the ground. He was ready to snap at the stranger as he watched the things he bought roll out of the bag onto the street, but her absolutely terrified expression halted him. ”P-Please don’t kill me!” She pleaded, bowing down low and looking like she was about to pass out from stress.

 ”Wow hey, I’m not gonna kill you.” He wasn’t going to lie, it unsettled him a bit that he’d made someone he didn’t know so upset. “It’s okay I mean, shit happens.” 

Sighing, he picked up the grocery bag and started to collect the fallen products while the girl calmed down a bit. It only took him a small while, and when he stood upright again he finally got a good look at the person he’d bumped into. To his surprise, she turned out to be someone he recognized. 

"Wait, aren’t you Karasuno’s new manager?" He wondered what she was doing so far from home and if she might have lost her way in the winding streets of his town.

Yachi was glad that the other had reassured her that she wasn’t about to be murdered and possibly have her organs sold in a market somewhere in Italy –okay, maybe the last part was just her imagination, but she stood quietly as she observed the tall male pick up the stuff that he had dropped. Realizing that she must’ve been extremely rude by just remaining still and not offering to help after an accident that she had caused, she immediately reached over to pick up one of the objects on the floor only to freeze.

"Wait, aren’t you Karasuno’s new manager?"

The words that had escaped the male’s lips made Yachi raise her gaze up at the male, blinking in surprise before an awful dread seemed to infiltrate her senses. It took a while for Yachi to remember who the male in front of her was, even as she narrowed her eyes at him to get a better look since the sun was pretty much blurring out his features. He’s from Aobajousai –she recalled, the school that Yachi once saw a tournament of and remembered seeing him around that one guy whose popularity with girls almost trampled her over. This individual knows she was Karasuno’s new manager, but the worst thing is: she doesn’t remember his name.

“Y-Yeah! I am!” she stuttered, letting out a nervous laugh afterwards as one of her hands reached up to ruffle the blonde locks of hair on her head. She half wondered how long she would be able to avoid saying his name, but for now, it seemed as though it was possible he might help her find her way around this town even if she never says his name. “Y-You’re that one guy from Aobajousai, right? The one with the ‘uwaaah!’ hits.”

Kenma watched as the stranger waved her hand while trying to catch her breath. He had no idea what she was trying to convey, but assumed she was telling him that she was catching her breath. As she did that, Kenma eyed the horizon. The clouds made him nervous. The sooner he sent this woman on her way, the better he would feel.

"Hello.." He repeated. The blonde that stood on his porch seemed on edge. Was it the impending storm or was it something else? As the female thought over what she was going to say, Kenma tried to assess if she was a threat to him and the criminal that was hiding in his basement. No, she was just a nervous, young traveler.

He gripped tightly to the door, trying his best to avoid falling backwards. His heart sank in his chest when he heard something move further in the house. Before the stranger could right herself, Kenma stole a glance behind him, making sure his cousin was still playing games in the basement. Whatever caused the noise wasn’t the other male, but a few papers that flew off his coffee table. “I’m sorry, miss, but I can’t let you stay-” Before he could finish, a siren tore through the quiet town.

Shit. That was the tornado siren. He couldn’t let her stay outside if there was a tornado. Especially since she had no way of escaping it. “Fine..” His voice was laden with uncertainty and fear. “Come in. But just stand in the living room, until I get back from the basement..I..I have to clean some things up.” Kenma was in full panic mode. Could he lie well enough to fool the young traveler? No, probably not. Despite the panic he was feeling, an idea came to him. He would wait until it was absolutely necessary to bring her down to the basement. “Oh, wait. No. I finished cleaning the basement. Let’s just stay up here for a bit, though. Maybe the tornado will pass us.”

Yachi half expected to be kicked out, especially for suddenly asking to stay inside a stranger’s house out of the blue –it was an overall uncanny plea after all once she actually thought about it. Though, the minute she heard the stranger’s (and now absolutely a nice individual in Yachi’s mind) permission to let her stay, she was tempted to dramatically hug her savior.  

But the image was quickly thrown out the window as she instead smiled brightly at him, almost unfazed by the loud tornado siren that must’ve been the reason the male had agreed to let her stay. She flinched though, once the siren suddenly started its round again.

“T-Thank you, thank you!” she repeated her gratitude like a broken record, immediately bowing every once in a while as she made her way inside. Folding her arms across her chest, she remained still once she entered, keeping in mind right from the get go what he had said: Just stand in the living room.

He seemed… a bit skittish, or perhaps he wasn’t used to visitors. Yachi concluded it was the latter as she quietly and carefully attempted to not disturb him. She was about to look around the place, wanting to ease the awkwardness that was soon to bloom between them when his sudden statement made Yachi turn around and face him, blinking in confusion. “Oh… t-that’s alright then, I hope I didn’t disturb your cleaning though…” The slight hint of fear on the blonde male’s voice made Yachi a bit nervous, almost as if he was wrecking her own nerves from being so panicky.

He’s just shy, she reminded herself a couple of times as she quietly began to look around. It was a nice place, kind of cozy and the slight decoration wasn’t all too bad. She was tempted to approach some of the décor in the living room when she suddenly turned around, probably alarming the male but she didn’t notice.

“I-I’m so sorry, I forgot to introduce myself! You can call me Yachi.” She paused. Almost double thinking her situation and deciding that this was probably a good ice breaker after all. This was just until the storm passes, that’s all. “W-What’s your name?”

| Confidential Pastry | Tsukishima & Yachi

Light brown eyes scanned the countless of cooking supplies that she had taken from her kitchen cabinets, all neatly lined up against the counter tops as Yachi could feel the blood draining from her face. This was a bad idea, this really was a bad idea—

“This might be a bad idea, Tsukishima-kun…” she muttered her thoughts out loud to the individual next to her as she quietly continued to eye the supplies, almost as if said supplies teasingly mocked her for not knowing what their contents were all about. “We might blow up the house if we do something wrong… what if we set something on fire?” Although she could already imagine his reply: We won’t set anything on fire, she couldn’t help but display her nervousness as she reached out to grab one of the eggs, almost dropping it in the process.

The team needed a boost morale and although she had no clue how to cook, she had suddenly found herself begging asking the responsible first year for help. Yachi knew she could have easily asked someone else for help, Kiyoko for instance or maybe even Sugawara, but it seemed as if Tsukishima was the one that she knew she could rely on to keep a secret and to actually stop any accidents from occurring during the process of baking.

Maybe she secretly asked for his help because she didn’t want to die in case something did happen.

“Do you really think we can do this?”

"Actually I was waiting for- I mean, besides that. You okay? You seem a bit…" Dithering, unsure how to describe it and settling for asking another question instead, more of an invitation to be sure. "I’m going to stop by somewhere to get something to eat but you can come with me if you want." He felt tense, sure someone like Tanaka was probably staring at him, resisting the urge to look and instead keeping his gaze steady. Trying to be confident. Trying to be a bit like Tsukki, really. As always the small pang of thought, about how cute she is, bounced about the back of his mind. It was something all guys felt about cute girls, he reassured his thoughts silently. Feeling awkward to just be waiting for an answer. "I can pay, I mean. I was going to offer to." Not that his allowance amounted to much, but that wasn’t the issue. Was it?

She tilted her head in confusion as she quietly continued to listen to him dabble on, her eyebrows knitting together before she blinked in realization. “Oh…” was all she could mutter out at the sudden invitation. It was more of a surprised response than an annoyed one, and she hoped her short reply had let him know that. She hasn’t had much time to actually sit down and converse with one of her future teammates, but she was sure this opportunity to go out with Yamaguchi was one she couldn’t reject. It was perfect, actually.

“S-Sure…! Um…” she pointed over her shoulder toward the storage room, giving him a slight apologetic look as she did so, “L-Let me just get my things and we could go? A-And you don’t have to pay! I-I can pay, don’t worry!” Yachi didn’t wait around for his response though –even though a part of her knew she should’ve because it was rude of her to suddenly run off to get her bag, yet her feet seemed to have a mind of their own as she quickly went to retrieve her belongings. This was just a simple outing –a hangout with a teammate in order to bond with him and experience what being a manager was all about. Grabbing her stuff, she returned and smiled politely at him, eyes adverting his gaze as she quietly glanced at the floor. "W-We could go now."

She still wants to go to college (though curse the system of having to decide at such a young age on what to do for the rest of your life), so working hard in a college prep class kinda keeps her going. She liked school back when she was a child, but now she just doesn’t mind it too much —she just isn’t as excited as she used to be as a kid.

A sigh escaped the young girl’s lips as she used her hand to protect her eyes from the sun, diligently looking around in order to find the street she was looking for. She hoped the fear that trickled in her veins wasn’t evident in her expression, though she wouldn’t be surprised if a few people stopped and questioned her odd behavior. Or if a police man would find her suspicious and arrest her right on the spot.

First off: being in a town where she had absolutely no idea where anything was… was a bad idea to begin with. Second: her mother must’ve been insane to have brought her along to visit relatives (who she was sure she knew nothing about) and finally: she was doomed. Doomed by her clumsy behavior and unfortunate events the minute she stepped outside of the hotel she was staying at.

The blonde had lost count on how many times she had checked the map provided by her cellphone, though it would prove worthless as she continued to walk down the paved streets in complete devastation. The sound of a bicycle bell along with a loud “excuse me” caused Yachi to jump to the side, accidentally bumping into someone as said bicyclist zoomed past her. Suddenly bumping into someone in a town she was already lost in was asking for a death wish and as she turned around to view the individual she had rudely knocked into, the male’s height confirmed that she was soon going to die. “I’m so sorry!” she blurted out as she quickly stepped away from, bowing down as she hoped it was enough to express her sympathy for her actions, “P-Please don’t kill me!”

Unsweetened Acquaintances || Yachi x Kunimi

Akira Kunimi. Number 13. Height: 182.5 centimeters tall, Aobajousai’s wing spiker, Fond of sweets….more precisely: salted caramel……

Kunimi was out at the store in the sweets section, due to someone devouring his last bag of treats. A choice between buying an already made bag of salted caramel or home making them was a choice that Kunimi had to decide on.

「…….」his eyes stared at the bag of sweets in front of him. Buy it or make it. Such a hard choice for the tall male. He walked away from the section of sweets hoping he could make up his mind sooner or later.

「This is so annoying….」Kunimi muttered out, and a sigh escaped his mouth. If it weren’t for Aobajousai’s volleyball team ‘asking if they could have a taste of salted caramel’ the raven wouldn’t be out in public, instead he would be lying around in bed, reading books and trying to fall asleep early.

Another sigh escaped his lips as he closed his eyes and ran a hand through his black hair.

Three Two One …. Thud

In less than a second there was a loud thud, opening his eyes a young girl was on the floor. Did he bump into the girl or did the girl bump into him, who knows, or maybe it was both of their faults, either way, the blonde female was on the floor on her bum, Kunimi extended a hand towards the female on the floor 「Sorry…,」「Are you alright?」he asked the female with concern, due to her small frame.

Surprises are always a hassle. To create something outstanding while concealing the surprise itself to the rest of the world would always send Yachi into a state of panic –mostly because her over-imaginative mind would soon begin to paint portrayals of being discovered by others. …It was just a nuisance overall.

She walked down the aisles of the store she happened to find herself in, eyes scanning the multiple items on the shelves for ingredients to make some homemade Nikuman for her team members. She didn’t even know how to cook so she really had no idea how she was going to do this. As she continued her search, the sound of boys laughing down the corridor broke her concentration; she became paranoid that she had been discovered by the Karasuno boys and caught red handed.

The color drained from her face and she did the only logical thing she could possibly do in a situation like this:

Run.

She turned to run down the aisle, not noticing the individual who happened to be next to her as she accidentally ran right into him, the items she held in her grasp now emitting the sound of thuds against the tiled floor as she also found herself on the floor with an even bigger thud.

Causing more attention on herself than she wanted to, there are times where she would rather have the earth open up underneath her and swallow her whole and this was one of those times. As she let out a small “ow”, she noticed the hand that was being offered in front of her for her to grasp onto. Her eyes glanced up at the individual who she bumped into and she apologetically lowered her head as she held onto his hand, not waiting for the other to pull her up as she, herself, scrambled up to her feet before releasing her grasp on his hand.

“I-I’m fine…! S-Sorry for bumping into you like that, I should’ve seen where I was going…” she muttered as quietly as she could, still a bit anxious that if she turned around the people she believed were her team members would find her.

Yachi has a bunch of happy memories, she’s a pretty positive kid despite acting like a total fearful individual with an overactive imagination. I think her happiest memory was probably when her mom actually allowed her to join the volleyball team at Karasuno. She’s usually always giving up on things so easily, thus probably making her mom think she’ll give up on everything eventually. But to have known that her mom supported her in her decision cuz villager b can fight too ya know only gave her a boost to prove to herself and mother that she can fight for what she wants in life.

She’s totally bad at sports. Having joined soccer for a while and having the soccer ball smacked on her face, she knew it just wasn’t for her. Being in a game and feeling the pressure of acting well with her teammates is probably the worst thing Yachi could go through because she’d freeze or curse her klutzy side be exposed in front of everyone and embarrass herself. Maybe that’s why being a manager for Karasuno’s volleyball team gives her a chance to be in sports without really being in a sport. It’s all fun and games until she’s smacked on the face with a ball again. r.i.p. kiddo, r.i.p.
