A ritual for offering/preparing oil for use in blessing, anointing, and protection
This is a ritual straight from the pages of my own grimoire; it’s quite simple now and maybe could do with some tweaking, but in its current form it does the trick for me.
-White veil (or veil of your choice; optional)
-Fragrance oil or olive oil to be offered
-Altar space/offering space
-Candles of your choosing. I tend to use an assortment of saint/“face” candles, and fragrance candles.
1. Before you begin, cleanse the space with the method of your choice. Put on the veil, cross yourself, and light the candles in order of hierarchy (Jesus comes first, then Mary, then any angels and saints). I use this as a basic opening for most rituals.
2. Place the container of oil in the center of your altar space. Say an “Our Father”, then recite the following:
“I offer this oil as an agent of the blessing of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and of Mary Mother, Mary Magdalene, and the Great Sophia, Queen of All Angels. I humbly request Thy blessing and acceptance.”
Now is the time to focus on what you would like this oil to accomplish. Be sure to give thanks for the blessings and protection you’ve already been given!
3. Once the oil is charged with your intentions and gratitude, recite the following:
“May this oil be Your blessing and protection on any person or object which receives it. God bless it and let it be so. Amen.”
Cross yourself once more, and kiss the container of oil if desired. This will conclude the ritual. The oil is now blessed and ready for use.
