SUMMARY | You awoke with the sudden confidence to finally admit your feelings towards Minho so you ask Gally for advice. Although, he wasn’t very good at giving it so you were left to figure things out yourself.
"My philosophy in life is 'if you're going to step on some toes, aim to shatter bone.’”
“Gally, I asked you for relationship advice, not life advice,” you sighed, standing up from your leaning position against a wooden pole of the Homestead.
You had already regretted asking Gally for advice as you had been standing outside of the Homestead for too long, listening to pointless words that threw themselves out of his mouth. The sun that was already burning away at your skin was only getting hotter by the second as you tried to come up with ways to admit your feelings to a very handsome Glader, Minho.
“Are you literally fantasising, right now?” Gally chuckled in disbelief, one hand rested on his hips and the other waving in front of your face. Your gaze was no longer on the walls but now on your blond mate, Gally, who had a smirk on his face. You wanted to do nothing but rip it off.
“Oh, shut up. He’s cute,” you shrugged, “plus, he’s sweet . . .” And before you could continue describing everything you’ve ever thought about the boy, Gally cut you off.
“Sweet? Are we talking about the same Minho?” he laughed, earning a punch on his arm. He winced in pain and rubbed at his skin, looking at the walls this time. You noticed that you weren’t the only one sweating in the growing heat of the sun, catching a glimpse of water trickling down Gally’s eyebrow.
“In all honesty, Y/N? If you like him, just go for it. If he doesn’t like you back, then that’s his loss, and you will always have mine and Nick’s shoulders to cry on. We got you,” he assured, meeting your eyes again and your shoulders relaxed. His words comforted you.
You thanked the boy and decided it had already been too long away from your medjack mates, Clint and Jeff; so you ran off to the hut and settled on one of the three beds inside. The two boys were too busy cleaning up their medical supplies and chatting away some gossip about the Sloppers, that they barely noticed you had entered the room. Often, you would hate being unnoticed but this time, you were grateful to relax against the comfort of the bed’s mattress, away from direct sunlight.
You sat up from your place and walked out of the small room towards the chatter not far away. You hadn’t even noticed that your stomach had been grumbling when the sounds of boys laughter and the clank of utensils against plates made you realise it was already dinner time. You rushed towards the sounds, ready to grab a plate when Frypan stopped you, handing you a full ceramic.
“Saved you some,” he smiled. You thanked him and sat beside Ben, who was seated beside the Keeper’s table.
“Hey beauty, enjoy your sleep?” he smirked, playfully knocking your shoulder once you settled down. You nodded and began to munch on your food to fight against the hunger that was punching your stomach.
“Hey princess,” you heard a familiar voice say behind you. You froze and your blood rushed to your cheeks, the butterflies in your stomach fluttering faster by every passing second. You carefully dropped your utensils and paused your eating, slightly turning your head to the side. Minho was behind you, one leg over each side of the picnic table bench.
Then, everyone began to leave the cafeteria, leaving you and Minho alone – and you swear you saw Gally smirk and wink at you. He definitely did something, you thought. But you ignored the boy and completely turned your body to face your crush.
In the moonlight, his smile somehow managed to be brighter and the curves of his muscles and jawline were much more defined. It made your heart skip a beat.
“I talked to Gally,” he informed. Your heart skipped another beat and you hoped to die right then and there. What did he say? you thought. “Don’t worry, nothing bad,” he assured as if he could hear your thoughts. You let out a breath you didn’t even notice you were holding. He turned his whole body to face yours and leant his chest forward so he could comfortably lean his elbows on his knees.
“I was just wondering where you were,” your breath hitched, he was looking for me? “You didn’t greet me at the walls today, turns out you were sleeping,” he laughed. You smiled and your eyes met his. But this time, he paused, his breath hitching in his throat, not allowing him to speak further.
You barely noticed the hint of pink on his cheeks when you spoke, “yeah, I was tired. . .”
Silence fell between the two of you. You both didn’t know what to say, both nervous and afraid to speak next. You used this moment to analyse his face much closer, he is so handsome. His lips were now pursed, eyes sparkling under the glow of the moonlight, and skin glistening. You wanted to do nothing else but pull at his shirt and kiss him. But, you didn’t. You were afraid of rejection from the boy you had crushed on for a year.
So, the two of you just sat and listened to the sound of faint chatter from the other boy’s, your gaze not falling away from each other’s. And although you hadn’t confessed yet, you wanted to do nothing but do so to get the embarrassment over and done with. But, you wanted to savour this moment – to watch nothing but your crush look so handsome under the night sky.
Your eye contact was broken when his gaze fell down to your lips. You hadn’t noticed he had inched closer towards you until you felt his warm breath fan over your face. He stopped though, catching your gaze again as if he was asking for permission. You softly nodded and leant forward too, but not without moving your hands that were rested in your lap onto his shoulders.
The gap between your lips was now gone and your mouths met each other. It was a warm kiss, distracting you from the cold air of the night. And you weren’t even so sure how to kiss, but you were sure at this moment, your lips against Minho’s, was the best kiss you’ve ever had.
wait this is beautiful
