I drilled holes in my nails and it bothers people <3
I never wear earrings, but back in 2013 I used to pull a strand of my still attached scalp hair through my earlobe piercing. Good times!
I should start doing this againā¦
Quantum computing is making headlines, so why the hell is seemingly nobody talking about artificial superintelligence?
I feel like I should do a PSA and point to this really nice introduction on artificial superintelligence over at Wait But Why. Itās a summary of all the different positions currently held by the pros in this field. It has silly little drawings like the one below, and references Indiana Jones. Itās lovely, go check it out! Expect to be amazed and frightened and giddy and then concerned, and current shitty world politics will seem meek and petty and faze you a little less.
(I can also recommend their highly entertaining post on procrastination [hello Dark Playground, my old friend], and the one on the Fermi paradox!)
"Hoc est enim umbrella corporation meum."
Stumbled upon these videos of kinetic objects by Willem van Weeghel and I canāt get over how beautiful and mesmerizing they are. I wish I could see them in person.
When I get bored with touching up old pics in Photoshop...
I participated in a workshop to learn the basics of designing tesselated Origami, and let me tell you, that stuff is really intriguing. All those structures depicted here are made from a single piece of cardstock or paper, and can be unfolded and layed flat again. Iām definitely hooked!
Found such a shitty replica of the Holy Hand Granade of Antioch at the home decor department. Itās almost like they didnāt even try.
nostalgia isnāt as good as it used to be
Spyro on PS1, how I remember it:
Spyro on PS1, reality check:
You know youāre living in the right city when you encounter both these things within the same day.
Today Viennese Band TENTS released their mini album UNDER MY WINGS. Congrats guys, so proud of you!
For an extra thrill take a look at the amazing video for their first single Anemone. From the fist puff of the fog machine to the shakey camera around the 3:38 minute mark, itās a trash deluxe extravaganza and I love every bit of it.
Itās been a couple years since I lived with this kitty but damn it, Elvis and me really were best buddies.
Huh, I just learned that Erwin Schrƶdinger lived polyamorous, openly and almost a hundred years ago. Thatās surprising!
EDIT: Well, that one aged like milk... :/
āDid you ever stop to think that eventually thereās a point where your name gets mentioned for the very last time?ā
Something unforeseen has happened: Itās bittersweet and almost hurts so say, but Portal 2 has been dethroned as my favourite puzzler. Let me introduce this wonderful thing that is:
I canāt call it anything else than a masterpiece. By now Iāve put in around 160 hours, and for me this game just keeps on rising in beauty, complexity and ingenuity.
It took just under 30 hours to reach "end game" and see the credits roll, and it would have been a fantastic experience even if it stopped there. Then, being the ever old completionist, I hung around to get to 100%, but only after another 20 hours or so did I realize how amazingly intricate and cleverly designed this entire game is. Wow. Every little thing you see has a distinct reason why it's there. There are no random choices it seems, everything you could possibly notice was meant to be noticed - even if at first glance something looked like lazy design or even a bug. Well, surprise: it's not.
So more than 100 hours of my playing wasn't solving any puzzles with actual feedback, but uncovering the story of this spectacular island - just by looking and wandering around. Naming this thing āThe Witnessā was an appropriate decision.
I highly recommend this game to folks who like challenging puzzle/logic-type games and enjoy meticulous exploring!
Yes, I prefer my peaches freshly towelled.
"So what are you up to these days?"
"Ah, you know, the usual. Stuff like putting wooden figurines in the oven. For the garlic paste to dry more quickly."
