I canât believe they gave us the supernatural ending. 2.0.
Iâm angry. I didnât expect it be this bad. Let me bring it down.
The most abused character and the main protagonist on the show died. Oh and so did her abused siblings. What a way to once again reduce abused children to their trauma and tell us there is no hope for them. Once you have been traumatized you are gone from the world, no happiness for you.
They didnât even really pretend to even try with Henry.
Oh, youâre a victim too? Too bad. Thatâs trauma. Canât deal with that. Now you die. Bye.
Back to or main characters, because itâs not just El who getâs reduced to her trauma, nope. Mike doesnât get to move on either. Heâll be stuck with El and the upside down forever. He becomes Hopper 2.0. Even if the show tries to tell us that he wonât, he does. We are shown that he canât move on.
And Will, also severely traumatized kid, who happens to be gay and has suffered tremendously. He canât have a happily ever after or even some happiness either. No, he gets Mike telling him that in the future you will happy. Somewhere down the line, it will work out for you. Iâm sorry, what? We have been following him and all this bullshit for ~ 8 years and we get eventually youâll be happy? No. I donât think so. I guess itâs a bit of a miracle he is even alive. Letting a gay character live, itâs kinda new tbh.
Back to El, they really made us reduce her journey to nothing. Just like with Dean they made us root for this character for years, following her growth for her to go. I guess Iâll need to die now. Why?
What is it you wanna tell us except that itâs pointless and we canât never expect to get to live a normal and happy life?
They took the easy way out. Leaving our main trio not far from were they began.
El, dead or alive, unclear, a Schrödingerâs death really. If she is alive she is definitely back on her own, no friends or family.
Mike, yes, he left his momâs basement but he still holds on to the past, telling stories of his friends from the sidelines, playing safe and ironically enough, probably wish they were all still playing dnd in the basement together.
Will, he is a gay kid on his own again, looking for his place in the world. Yes, he knows and accepts who he is now, which is a huge difference but there absolutely no reason to leave him alone. Thatâs a deliberate choice.
Now, there will be people claiming weâll, It wouldnât be realistic if everyone got together or Will needed his Tammy!
Really? We gonna do the realistic part and stranger things? No. And once again, no. Will needed acceptance, happiness and love but they couldnât give us that because how society still view queer people and queer couples.
There is not a coincidence that the only two couples who worked out and got their happy endings are heterosexuals. They couldnât even give us a confirmed Robin/Vickie endgame.
I shouldnât have to even write this but did they queerbait us? Yes. Could we be sure of that before the last episode aired? No.
There were no reason for snowball avalanches, the looks, the touch. We all know this shit. If it wasnât gonna pay off. That was once again, a choice.
And they couldnât have made the end to stranger things more tragic than they already did if they tried. The characters deserved so much better. We deserved so much better.
But no, so now letâs carry on and get ourselves a happy ending queers because no one gonna give it to us.
(This also applies to all traumatised people out there. We wonât be handed a happy ending but please, never stop fighting for it. You deserve everything!)
