"i don't know who you are, but please leave me alone,” you would cry out day-in and night-out. soreness ached within your throat as your arms would shake with every flick of the light switch, the fear of encountering something inhuman plaguing and taunting you. a candle grasped tightly within twitching fingers, a breath escaped your lips as your eyes scanned the vicinity lit only by the dim light of the melting candle.

during murky nights outside, the walls of your home were meant to shelter you from the bloodiness outside, though creaking stairs and slow, wooden taps sent opposing statements. and so, you sat in the corner of the room in close to pitch black darkness, praying that your spirits and guides would protect you from the harm you sensed surrounded your home.

two years. 24 months. 104 weeks. within the span of a mere fraction of your life, your fingers had become tainted with the dark blood of the paranormal, and cursed by the heavens you became. sent by them was a creature unbeknownst to you, a specimen that dragged its nails on the walls each night.

“please.. leave me alone…” the drunken affairs between life and death played with you in their hands as your pleas were answered with a slow, rhythmic knock under the wooden floors beneath you. reaching the candle out, your finger gently floated on the floor as you swallow the saliva bubbling within your throat. with each passing second, the knocking swelled in volume, slowly inching closer and closer to above ground.

one loud ram forced your eyes instinctively shut. candle seized with your left hand, your right hand slung up to your head. hair intertwined between your fingers, your head clutched and your nails digging into your scalp, the sound of a limb sliding on creaking wood rang through your mind.

with hidden vision, your senses kept your eyes closed, for a death without sight would be more preferable than a death watching the entity responsible. a cold appendage probed at your ankle, fear chasing up your spin. whatever entity had been parading around your home had at last decided to unveil its cape, and the following actions it would take, you knew not of.

“did you miss me, my dear?” 6 words struck you harsher than any paranormal activity could. a male voice whose tone sent you into overdrive and stimulation. “i know i missed you, darling.”

“jihoon? park jihoon?” astonishment dared you to open your eyes, the curiosity and shock overwhelming you. you were met with the unholy sight of jihoon — his smile cut wide , reaching the apple of his cheeks and dripping blood. his left eye had no pupil or iris, the purity of his shining a bright white laced with bloody seeming lines tracing around his eye.

through the horror his face held, beneath it, alas, you could still recognize the beauty he once held. it laid in remnants beneath his bloodshot eyes and scarred tissue, but it remained untouched in your view. your eyes tore away from his, settling instead on the pale skin that covered his hands.

“i watched you die, jihoon..” you croaked out.

“and i did. does it look like i’m alive, lovely?” his eyes glimmered as he slammed a fist onto the wooden floor, an aggressive and loud bang echoing throughout the house.

“h-how?”

he laughed lightly, though not a trace of humor was to be detected. “well, that’s not important, sweetheart. what i find is important now is that i’m here, but.. i’m sure you’ve noticed: i look quite different, don’t i?

don’t i look a bit.. say.. damaged? a bit roughened up? maybe a little bloody? i don’t look too much like the beautiful boy you used to know, do i? how do you feel about that, my dear?” he pulled you via your ankles closer to him, a menacing expression patching his face.

he reaches a cold and albino-white hand underneath your chin and lifts your face up to meet his, “do you still love me?”

though hidden beneath his eyes, you noticed his sudden pause and hesitation, clearly taken aback by your response. tears began welling up in your eyes as his grip on your chin loosened slightly before once more harshening as his demeanor grows upset once more. a shaky breath leaves your lips.

“you’re such a nasty liar. even to my face after i went through hell and back, you continue to fib. i should kill you now while i have the chance. i wouldn’t hesitate a single bit if i wanted to.”

“shut up, jihoon. i still see the beauty i saw years ago, and i still think you’re beautiful. jihoon, it’s been years since i’ve seen you for the last time, and up until now, i’ve never not loved you.”

feeling his shaky hand tremble, you release the candle and set it beside you, reaching your hand up to gently touch the wrist of his hand that was settled on your chin. it felt sub-zero, though it still gave you a warmth you had lacked in you life post his death.

“you’re such an idiot. you haven’t changed one bit. what will it take for you to realize that i’m not the beautiful boy you think i am? how much will it take for you to agree with the others? the people that’ll forever scrutinize and harass me for my ugliness..” he whispered.

mustering courage, your raise your hands and cup his face gently in them, slowly running your thumb across the cuts that extended from the corners of his mouth and outwards. your eyes trailed on his wounds, examining his face for the cuts and injuries that littered his once smooth and silky skin.

perhaps it was the tiny diamonds that had been delicately stuck on your cheekbones, maybe it was the pink and plump lips that had greeted everyone with a charming smile that had his eyes glued to your figure in awe that night. surrounded by strangers adorned in their best dresses and suits, yoshi could not hear the way your laughter chimed in response to a daring joke his friend jihoon had said.

far too in the corner, he stands alone with a drink swirling in the tall glass he elegantly held in his palms, yoshi did not have a single interest in the ongoing celebration over the hundredth year anniversary of your father’s textile company, joined by your mother’s fashion enterprise. he was simply there out of respect to an invitation sent to designers that had once worked with their brand.

you raise a brow, “oh, really?” you pull your arms behind your back, a cheeky expression lifting your face, to which yoshinori would later vehemently deny ever staring way too long at you to his friend.

“do you not want to, or do you not know how to dance?” you watch as his eyes smoothly slide away from the contact you had held onto, satisfied by his non-verbal answer. “i can teach you, you know? right here.”

yoshinori hesitantly places a hand over your waist per your gentle instructions, “are you sure? i will definitely step on your shoes.” his wide eyes seek affirmation as you hold onto his shoulders, swaying left and right, before telling him to step backwards to twirl you around.

his sharp looks that had been a tad bit intimidating at first before you had approached him had ebbed away into nothingness. this man was the softest of his kind that you had seen, you confirm in your mind. his unsure smiles as he steps to the side, his twinkling eyes as he gets the next set of movements correctly without you needing to tell him, everything about him was dazzling.

“what’s your name?” yoshinori asks as he spins you once before dipping you down lightly, curiosity shining through his doll-like appearance. you try not to laugh at his face when he pulls you up by an arm wrapped securely around your waist, “usually, people would introduce themselves first. and that would usually happen around the first two minutes of their interaction, mind you.”

he remembers the call he had gotten a few months ago distantly, rejecting the idea of staying later that night out of other obligations to his mother. her birthday had been on the exact same day, what could he do? he was a loyal mommy’s son, after all.

the twenty-one year old monster in the fashion industry rubs the back of his head, “i had to g-” you snigger at him, “i’m just kidding, you have a life outside of this, i know.” you point at the lively event.

note : i actually wrote this for a certain AU i did on my instagram called “who murdered yang jungwon?” it was a mystery au where a bunch of my followers would Work and put together clues that i would give them to Figure out who murdered jungwon ! :] <3 i had them vote in a Poll and barely anyone guessed heeseung tho

          To Lee Heeseung, from the afterlife above where I now reside, I stare down at you as you walk the Earth, a place you stripped my life away from. I recall it as if it was yesterday, the horror that pierced my soul and the memories of my life flashing before my eyes in blinding light as you brought that knife down to my shoulder... and then to my other, slashing me and leaving me to die in the forest, bleeding out and staining the beautiful grass beneath.

           Light began leaking into my vision in milky dots, slowly saturating and growing larger until my vision was back to normal. I blinked a few times as I adjusted to the light level of the sun, and as I gathered information on my surroundings, I came to the realization that I was set sitting in the middle of a forest clearing, trees as tall as clouds circling me.

            "Yang Jungwon..." I knew that voice. I whipped my head towards the voice, though I was immediately stricken by a sharp, searing pain that infected my head. I threw my hands up to my head and cradled it in my hands, the pain pushing me to scream out in pain.

           "Heeseung...?" I asked, my hand still intertwined and grasped within my hair.

            "19 years of my life have lead up to this very exact moment, Yang Jungwon..." I heard his voice, and though it was similar to the voice of the man I trusted for years of my life, the sound of it struck panic within my chest and caused it to constrict around my rib cage, my stomach turning and bile threatening to explode out of my mouth.

          I had zero time to react as he briskly walked over to me and grabbed my hair, yanking it upwards and staring me directly in the face. I screamed as the pain overcame my being, my skull feeling as if it was slowly but surely being sandpapered away into dust.

            "Ever since that fateful day, I've wanted nothing more than to stab you until you died, but I had to earn your trust first... it would be more satisfying in that manner, no?

          So I did it! You're so fucking naive, Jungwon... Trusting me despite knowing what I'm capable of should I ever have a motive to do something. You're an idiot."

           I felt one last burst of adrenaline surge through my limbs as I attempted one last time to push Heeseung away from me to allow me freedom to run, though in my weakness and pain, my tries were fruitless and futile.

            "Accept your fate, Yang Jungwon... I've been waiting too long to let you go now..." I felt myself getting pushed onto my back, the back of my head hitting the ground, though the sight I saw above me neutralized the pain that was in my skull with an equal amount of fear and panic.

           Heeseung, my dear friend whom I held as a brother, held a knife up in the air, his expression psychotic as a large smile crept onto his face, his pearly white teeth exposing themselves in a manic manner. His eyes were wide opened, his apple cheeks heightened and his hair disheveled and unkempt. It was difficult to perceive this man as the man who had hugged and comforted me through my deepest and darkest times, though it was him.

          "Any last words, Yang Jungwon? Make them count."

           At his words, I felt the dam break within my eyes and waterfalls start pouring out of them as I screamed the loudest my lungs could withstand. Screaming, I heard Heeseung laugh maniacally almost as loud as I screamed.

            "There isn't a single damn person that'll hear you when you scream, Jungwon—we're far too far from civilization for you to be saved, Jungwon. Accept it."

            I refused to come to terms with my murder, my vocal cords aching and my throat feeling as if a knife had been run down and up it, though I continued to scream. I let out half screams and wails, the sobbing creating a heart wrenching scream that made my entire body hurt.

           "LEE HEESEUNG! I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY BROTHER! I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME!"

          He rolled his eyes.

          "You were fun at times, though nothing could make me forget, Yang Jungwon... you stupid child."

           As he held the knife up higher, preparing to plunge it into my body, I gave one final scream, "HEESEUNG! PLEASE, I'M SOMEBODY'S SON!"

          "Somebody's son, yes! The son of the man who murdered my father 11 years ago.

          Goodnight, Yang Jungwon."
