You couldn’t take it anymore. You had been taken away from everything and everyone you loved. “To protect you” he said with that cold voice. So you ran. Again and again and again. But no matter how many times you planned, no matter how many times you escaped, no matter how many times you thought you were safe, he was there.
“Don’t you know I did all this for you?” He said calmly, voice dripping with poison. You tried to move, but his grip on you was iron. He was not letting you go. Not again.
All you could do was stare at the man who you once loved. The man who *promised* he’d always protect you. And if you really think about it, he hadn’t broke that promise.
He leaned in and kissed your lips. Tears formed in your eyes as he picked you up bridal-style and carried you back to what he called “your new home”.
“I will keep you here. I will keep you safe. Even if that means breaking you down until you can *only* rely on me.”
I decided to make a Resident Evil 8 fanfic. Here you go! ;)
Summary: you didn’t think you’d be fit to have a kid, considering your past. Boy were you wrong.
1996. A year you thought would be like any year. Well, any year for a S.T.A.R.S member. A normal day for you was kicking zombie ass. But that year changed you completely.
You and the rest of the Bravo Team were sent to investigate strange murders in the mountains. That’s where everything went wrong. Your team was viciously attacked. The attack left a scar on your body, as well as your brain.
The Alpha Team had later been sent to… well no one had ever told you why. You assumed it was to see if the Bravo Team had been eaten, which they had. You had been the only one who survived, but you wished you hadn’t.
You went with the Alpha Team to a mansion hidden in the mountain. Creepy as hell. But you weren’t gonna risk staying out there. Not with them.
Chris Redfield was apart of the Alpha Team, along with Jill Valentine and their captain, Albert Wesker. You met the team a while back, when you first joined.
Jill and Chris were nice enough for two people that have to kill zombies all the time. But the Captain… you had your suspicions about him. And your suspicions had been proven right.
That son of a bitch was working with Umbrella, the motherfuckers who cause this shit in the first place. The whole reason S.T.A.R.S existed was to fight against Umbrella. Why would he—
You were pulled out of your thoughts by a knock at the door. “What is wrong with me…?” you said softly, shaking your head to bring yourself back to the present. You took another sip of your coffee, and got up to answer the door.
After the events at the Spencer Mansion in 1996, you left S.T.A.R.S. You couldn’t bring yourself to keep fighting these… freaks. It seemed like it would never end.
Although you left, you stayed in contact with Chris. You bonded over trauma and became friends. But he basically disappeared off the face of the Earth. Why? You didn’t know. Hell, you still didn’t know to this day what he’s been up to.
You hadn’t seen him in more than 10 years. Which was why you’re confused seeing a much older Chris Redfield at your door. And that wasn’t even the craziest thing. He was holding a baby.
“Hey. Long time no see.” Chris fucking Redfield said, standing at your door. “If it isn’t the boulder-punching motherfucker. What are you doing here?” You said. You were hella glad to see him, but you were confused. Why had he shown up out of the blue? And with a baby?
“I see you finally knocked somebody up.” You said, leaning against your doorframe. “Oh, no. She isn’t mine. She’s Ethan’s daughter.”
Ethan… who was Ethan.. oh. That fool that went to save his wife in Louisiana. Ethan Winters. A dumb motherfucker if you ever saw one.
“I know him. Well, I heard about him. Fuckin’ idiot.” You said, recalling what you heard from a BSAA member. Chris’s face hardened a fraction, and you noticed. How did that piss him off? “He wasn’t an idiot. He cared about his family to the end…”
You stood up straight, pushing off your doorframe. “He died, didn’t he?”. You didn’t get a response, which was an answer enough. “Sorry for talking about him that way, Chris. I didn’t mean anything by it..” “It’s fine. I know you didn’t”
You hadn’t seen or heard from Chris Redfield in a long time. What the hell was he doing on your doorstep, holding a baby that isn’t even his?
Oh no.
“Listen, I need you to do something for me. Before Ethan died, he asked me to take care of his daughter, and—“ you interrupted him, putting your hand up. “Chris, are you gonna ask me to take care of that girl?” you said calmly. “I need you to do this for me. I can’t take care of a baby, I hardly know what I’m doing.” “And you think I do? Chris I’m not a goddamn housewife. Never touched a baby in my life.”
He knew you were right. You and him both knew neither of you were fit to take care of a child. But in his mind you were the person he trusted most.
You paused. You scrunched your nose in thought. You were a killing machine. Blood on your hands from so many people. Both zombies… and innocent humans. You stared at the little girl in his hands, the girl making little cooing noises and staring up at you with those annoying little blue eyes.
“What’s her name?” you asked, still staring down at the little bundle of whatever innocence the world had left. “Rosemary Winters” Chris replied, almost immediately. You quirked an eyebrow at the rare name “Rosemary? Like the spice?” “Like the spice.”
You weren’t fit to take care of a baby. You were a mess with a thousand skeletons in your closet. Babies were a handful. Slobbery, expensive. But cute. Rosemary… Rose stared up at you with those blue eyes, you assumed she got from her father. That little bundle of whatever innocence the world had left.
You weren’t fit to take care of a baby. You weren’t. But now, as you rocked baby Rosemary, like the spice, to sleep, hours after Chris had thanked you and left, she stared up at you with wonder. Her eyes closing slowly as she cooed contentedly. As you stared down at her with the same wonder, the same curiosity, the same growing love, you thought…
“maybe this won’t be so bad”
A/N: yeah I rewrote this over and over again. But I really hope you enjoyed and let me know what I should write next!
