​I was living a double life—married with children, while losing my first man love to AIDS. He was only 26. It was a horrid time; on set, the makeup artists and stylists you worked with one week were simply gone the next.

​The record and the tour ended abruptly in rehab. After 30 years, I finally opened the vault on the South Beach Studio Sessions.
