You ever consider that you like tough love because you’re used to it. You were conditioned to receive love and criticism in that way. So it works for you because that’s all you know. You’ve learned how to operate with it. But I’m sure you’ll find that if someone came to you with pure love and understanding to help, it’s work for you too. And you’d probably find that you prefer being treated that way. It’s nicer.

Something my psychiatrist shared with me: He's an old dude and he's wise and stuff and one time he was like "did you read harry potter?" And i was like what do i look like a damned fool? "yes" and he was like "treat intrusive thoughts like bogarts. think of something happy. Think of something beautiful.
