literally every one on here
Psst…….
This map is aggravating for at least the following reasons there are probably many more but
The colours do not signify continents
North and South America are the same color for example why
That western Asia border is already real sketchy but also China India and SE Asia are not exactly their own
Why exactly is Greenland in white is it part of Antarctica which got a font smaller than countries or continents
Speaking of why are some denoted by country and some by continent "Africa" does just not cut it
Alaska is just a state but it couldn't get the (USA) treatment
Why are three specific tiny islands notated only with no regard to size or significance we can get Fiji identified but not Iceland or Madagascar
Mangolia
Saudi Arabia Emirates
Newzealand not New Zealand
MANGOLIA
Panama is a fucking hole
No seriously go look someone edited that map to just make exactly Panama into the ocean do you not know what a canal actually is
Why do the landmasses have shadows have they been lifted into the damned air
"Map not to scale" Map not to scale is the very least of your problems boys this is actually a reasonably competent Mercator projection in most senses
Wait a minute we do have Iceland why is the font in grey
The ocean looks to extend a good 2000 km west of Alaska and east of Russia and they didn't just unclearly mark the wraparound longitude because aforementioned Fiji clearly extends and Russia is just circumsized
MANGOLIA
Yes we know it says it is a map for kids but then you start with merely limited information not blatantly incorrect or misleading information we're done for now please continue with your lives and forgive the outburst thank you for your time
‘‘africa’‘ cuts it for the same reason ‘‘europe’‘ and ‘‘australia’‘ does. ‘‘australia gets its own despite signifying the whole of oceania cause it’s easier to remember. this is a map for american CHILDREN therefore major countries in america gets names. it’s incredibly simplified you absolute dumbfuck cause children ages 5-7 can look at it and start to get a simple overview of the world. that’s all if you really sit your 5 year old child down and try to force em to memorise every country at once you’re a fucking monster. and God forbid someone makes 1 spelling mistake you absolute dipshit
Dear Unnecessarily Aggressive Person on the Internet #5.6992x10^23,
You make a good point regarding the need (or lack thereof) for a simplified children's map to have the names of every single country on it. You're right, there are a lot of them (and some, on a map this size, would be very small and hard to distinguish from each other)! There is a case to be made for a colorful, not 100% accurate or detailed map to teach American children the shapes and names of the world's continents, with a little more detail paid to North America.
However, this map is not that map. According to this map, the continents of the world are
Africa
Australia
Argentina
Brazil
Canada
China
Europe
Greenland (Denmark)
Indian Ocean
Mexico
New Zealand
United States of America
and the countries of the world are
Alaska
Fiji
Japan
India
Mangolia
Saudi Arabia Emirates
As you can see, this map does not concern itself with consistency in what kind of information is relevant. It also contains factual errors, as pointed out above. I would assume, with your deep concern for the education of young children, your fake outrage for someone laughing at an internet funny might also be directed at this, but I guess not.
Some individual points: "and God forbid someone makes 1 spelling mistake you absolute dipshit." This comment seems to misunderstand how this kind of map comes to be. This is not one person's creation. At least copy-editor missed "MANGOLIA." You might not find that funny. That is fine. Many people do. Other people enjoying a joke you do not find funny is not inherently an attack on you.
"that’s all if you really sit your 5 year old child down and try to force em to memorise every country at once you’re a fucking monster." Thank you for this. This is easily my favorite part of your post. This comment is so utterly ridiculous it eclipses everything else you have to say. It's so silly I'm not sure I'm even capable of explaining why it's wrong, but I'll try.
What we are looking at is a map. Now, I don't know how you use maps, but in my experience they function as either a navigational tool or a general reference. This is not a worksheet or a test. Those would have blank spaces for the child to fill in memorized information. In fact, there is no indication here whatsoever that the map is intended to be memorized in full. You made that up. In fact, the point of such a reference is often to let it hold information that's not worth memorizing.
Showing a child a globe is not, in fact, child abuse.
