Hillary Clinton’s ad campaign for Kindergarten through twelfth grade education utilizes rhetorical tools such as ethos, logos, and pathos to develop a strong claim. Her claim to be the best candidate is made through her plans to better America through focusing on the education system.
The ad consists of a variety of different forms of media. The ad begins with a banner at the top of the web page. It shows Clinton smiling and shaking hands with a youth. The boy appears to be at the age in which college would be on his mind. Her warm smile seems to radiate through the picture, as almost everyone in the photo appears to be smiling in admiration of her as well. Some of the kids in the photo are also recording her with their phones, showing the audience that she is very well liked. This photo greatly uses pathos as every component of this photo works in her favor. A photo such as this is targeted at an audience of all ages. This wide range of viewers works to only build her moral.
Under the photo, there is a heading that says “Hillary will”, and preceding this are three statements. Each statement is a strong promise about how Hillary will change the face of education. The statements are to the point and telling, making little room poppycock. Although this does not demonstrate logos or pathos for the audience, it does give the sense that Hillary is to be trusted, showing ethos.
The webpage also utilizes a video to demonstrate ethos and pathos. The video stirs up emotions by explaining Hillary’s concern for her grand-daughter’s future in education. She then opens up her concern to all the children in America and says that every kid should have the access to education whether or not their grandparent was a former president. This statement by Hillary is comforting and truthful, forcing the audience to have a connection with these words. This video hits an audience of all ages, as it concerns children, the children’s parents, as well as the children’s grand-parents.

To finish off Hillary’s argument for a bigger focus on education, she states how she plans to accomplish the statements she made previously. This is not only showing logos, but also ethos. Her ideas on how she will accomplish her goals shows that she has a plan and will implement what she has to in order to accomplish these goals. This is a demonstration of her ethicality as well as her ability to use logic.
Hillary’s ad campaign for better education for all demonstrates ethos, pathos, and logos in an attempt to win over the audience. The ad successfully uses all three of these rhetorical tools and projects Hillary as a very strong, relatable, and promising candidate in the upcoming election.
