Excerpt from 1984 cyberpunk novel Neuromancer by William Gibson. In this scene, the books protagonist, Case, is pursued by a shadowy figure first through the crowded street markets of Chiba City then into a crowded arcade. Case starts out confident but when the drug-fueled adrenaline rush ends, he finds his confidence lacking in the face of a brutal killer.
