I think I'll be a single mom forever
To My Ex, Fighting to let go was the best thing I’ve ever done. You broke me down to something less of a person. I was broken and didn’t even know who I was. You lied, cheated, stole, and took me for granted. Why was I fighting for something that would ultimately be so disappointing? All of the broken promises will never be forgotten. Depspite it all, you still gave me the best thing in the world you will never be able to take away from me. My son, Grant. I get to see his smiling face when I wake up. I get to give him kisses when I go to bed at night, even though most of the time he is already asleep when I get home from one of two jobs. I get to watch him grow into the man you will never become. And you know what gives me the most satisfaction? I’ll have raised him to be a man. Will I make mistakes? I probably already have and haven’t realized it yet. I’m sure there will be more down the road, but you know the one mistake I know deep down in my heart that I didn’t make? Keep you around as his father figure. Does it scare me to try to raise a man on my own? Absofuckinglutely.I watched my own father succumb to his demons from being reject by his own father. Does it keep me up all night in tears thinking about how I will respond to the inevitable question, “Momma, who is my daddy?” Even typing through blurred, teary-eyed vision, I know I will be unbiased. I will be the loving nuturing mother that I know I can be. I know I can also act a father figure. I will teach him how to change his own oil, his own flat tires, how to push start a manual transmission car with a dead battery, how to fix things that break and how to take care of them. I will be the strong one for him. I am the strong one. Sincerely [not] yours, Me.

My little 9 month old (a little late posting)! He's learning everything at lightning speed now. He's finally figured out that he can crawl. Not greatly, but it gives me a little time to baby proof things on his level. He has a pretty big vocabulary already. Nap Night night Cat Bath Red Mama Nana Banana Eat Milk Kiss Ride Rock (To be continued)
The "I'm mad because I ate all of my blueberries" face. He tried them for the first time tonight and he acted like they were his most favorite thing in the world! Them again, this kid LOVES food. Everyone that meets him and find out he's only 8 months old say, "Wow! He is so tall!" He said bath the other night. I missed it because I was at work. But it still made me tear up with joy. Not very long ago I was helping him hold his head up and now... he's figuring words out. He's so attentive. He's curious about everything and has to check it out for himself. We are still trying to figure out the crawling thing, but he's using his toes to push him forward. It's so cute. Sometimes I just have to stop and pat myself on the back for making such a perfect kid and figuring out single mom life.

I’m a SAHM and have little advice, and also I don’t fully understand the question because I feel like I don’t know what transition you’re talking about but I’m assuming you’re talking about going back to work?
I can’t imagine how hard it is but I’m sure we have plenty of mamas reading who have done it and can help! -Q
My mom helps me with my 8 month old while I work. You just have to trust her. Set guidelines and schedules. It's hard to leave the little one but it gets easier.
This is to all the new moms out there and to the moms to be. I know you are scared. I know you worry about the future. "Am I going to be a good mother? What if I can't provide enough for my son?" If you are thinking these things, then you are probably a better parent than you think you are. I constantly fear that I'm not going to be able to provide for my son as I'm streaming these thoughts out. 'I can't do this alone.' 'How am I going to finish school to get a better job to provide for him?' Learning to become a single mother is the hardest thing you could ever possibly do. But look at you. Sitting there with your internet and your coffee and, look at that... little munchkin is sound asleep with a belly full of your warm milk. That sweet face. It doesn't even matter that my work clothes are covered in spit up and my hair hasn't been washed in two days. It doesn't matter that little one woke me up at 5am because he wanted cuddles. I don't mind the milk stained sheets I forgot to put in the wash for the 3rd day in a row, or waking up to his little feet in my face. When you can forget about life for a moment and just stare at the little life looking back at you with a light in their eyes, you know you are doing it right.
Shout out to the older sisters who had to play the Mommy role at some point because their own Mother couldn’t. I see you, I know you exist, and you’re great, too.
Happy Mom’s Day, Moms. (comic by Andres Edery)
You won’t remember the way I stood in the bathroom late that night in labor with you, fearfully and excitedly gazing up at the moon, knowing I was going to bring you into the world soon and whispering to you, “We can do this.” You won’t remember the way you looked at me right after you were born, or the way I pulled you up next to my heart and marveled “Hi, baby” in your ear. You won’t remember the way you healed my broken spirit. The way you completed my heart. I was weak before I had you, and you made me whole again. You won’t remember the way I proudly watched you everywhere we went, you were always the most beautiful boy in the room to me. You won’t remember the way you made me laugh with all of the silly things you did. I saw how kind your heart was. You won’t remember the way I would brush the hair off of your forehead and the way you’d look up at me. Without any words, our souls could touch and say everything to each other that words couldn’t. You won’t remember the tickle fests we had, and how I always cheated so I could hold you close and cover your salty little face in kisses. You won’t remember all the times I went to bed at night and felt such fear being your mother: Am I doing okay? Have I messed up too many times already? Can I be the kind of mother he needs? You won’t remember the way my heart broke and grew a little bigger each time you passed a milestone, watching the sand fall through the hourglass while feeling overjoyed witnessing you expand and grow. You won’t remember the way I would hold your little feet in my hands, imagining how much bigger than my own feet they will one day grow, and how I will have to let you go. You won’t remember, but I will… and I’ll hold these memories in my heart for the both of us.

i’m so afraid of marriage like what if you marry someone and like have kids with them and then they decide they don’t love you anymore or something idk man but that shit is scary
It can happen not being married too.
How far along do you have your baby shower?
Depends on you and where it’s being held. I feel anywhere between 6-8 Months is appropriate :)
- Y
My baby shower for my daughter was pretty much exactly at 8 months along :) You don’t want to have it too early and having it too late can be stressful. - GR
My baby shower was at 34 weeks - T
Mine was at 32 weeks.

Grant, you are my whole world. You'll never know what great lengths I've fought for you. I love you so much.
