Stay At Home Mom Struggle pt.1
Okay so before I get into this, YES sometimes being a stay at home mom is a privilege/a blessing/etc. YES I know some people would love to stay home with their kids, etc. But let's not make this is not about that. So with that being said...
I have officially been a stay at home mom for 2 years. I temporarily quit my job in October 2017 just a few days before my youngest daughter was born. I was supposed to go back when she was a little older BUT I got pregnant with my son when she was just 2 months old so temporary turned to permanent. So now I'm a stay at home mom of 4.
I love being a mom. I do. But at the same time, I just wish things were different.
My fiance, who works a full time job anywhere from 40,50,60 hours a week, comes home and only sees what DIDN'T get done not what DID. He just sees that the floor didn't get vacuumed, the dishes aren't put away, yes there a bowl of cereal left on the kitchen table. He sees a mess and thinks "Wow, she didn't do anything today."
He doesn't see that I woke up at 7am, got the 2 older girls dressed, ready & sent off to school, diaper change after diaper change, I made breakfast, lunch and dinner, did 7 loads of laundry (washed, dried, folded, put up), I got the girls off the school bus, checked the mail, helped with homework, bathed 4 kids and got them ready for bed, then even snuck in a shower for myself. And even after the kids went to bed, did I? No. I stayed up did the dishes, wiped the table down, laid clothes out for everyone for the morning, did another couple loads of laundry before finally going to bed myself at 1am just to get back up in 6 or so hours.
He doesn't see that I was on my feet from the time I opened my eyes until I laid down for bed, he doesn't see what do DO just what I DON'T.
Raising 4 kids is not just hard, it's nearly impossible. 4 kids, 4 different personalities, 4 different schedules, 4 different everything. Every day is a battle.
Rylynn (8,the oldest) is going through a "I don't want to listen" phase. I have to repeat myself 2-3 times for her to do anything I ask. Kara (3, preschooler) is very bossy, she will demand things. I don't know how many times I hear "Turn on my PJ Masks, mama!" in a day. Serena (2,toddler) is my little trouble maker. Always getting into something, always making a mess, always doing something she shouldn't be. Terrible two's = hell on earth. And my son Logan (13 months) is a EBF mama's boy. If he's not latched to my boob then he's glued to my hip. Makes it nearly impossible to do anything.
But my fiance doesn't see it because he works all the time. He doesn't see exactly what I do, the struggles I go through on a daily basis, the 100 messes, the tantrums, the timeouts, the playtime, the snuggles. He doesn't see all that I do with and for these kids in one day. He doesn't see the stay at home mom struggles that I deal with.
It's not that I don't love my children because I do. I love that I am able to stay with them, watch them grow up, not miss a single moment but at the same time, I wish I was appreciated a little more than I am.
