Crazy work from Toto to publicly show how little the support for George is in the team right now with his comments.

I understand George does need to do better. I have enough neutral perspective to understand that.

But to blame him for his DNF today...he had no battery, he was being swallowed by the field due to that and it was the first lap.

I'm not his biggest fan, but I have to say my tendency to root for the underdog is being brought out this season for him. He's a bit of a dick sometimes.

However, a team doesn't get to base their support on a driver who has been loyal to them and brought them the majority of their wins pre-2026 on his performance in a car that lets be really honest, they prepared Kimi for this car while allowing George last season to carry the team and focus on getting them the best finish in the standings to come into the new regs.

Given the whole Silver war saga, I'm not necessarily surprised to see Toto choose a golden boy and openly speak negatively about the other driver. He has a longstanding record for it. Like...we know he publicly made his preference for Lewis known. But it's disappointing.

Idk I just think with everything George has done and he is obviously trying his best, he doesn't want to lose and quite frankly Merc has failed both their drivers multiple times this season but George has definitely been failed in more obvious ways. Like the Monaco unserved penalty? That was entirely the teams fault and there is absolutely zero excuse for it. But he still deserves support from the team, especially when I see that it's visibly effecting him mentally.

Kicking your driver after a racing incident on lap 1 (ik Lewis got penalised but I do think it was a lap 1 racing incident) and technically we can blame the car just having no battery as a big reason behind it too...that's a shitty thing to do. Really fucking shitty.

Not that this post will make any difference but I'm rooting for things to change for George. Doesn't even have to be that he wins the championship but I'd be happy to just see him be there behind Kimi or taking a few more race wins to boost his morale.
