ෆ at first, no one understood how you two ended up together. it's common knowledge that Ignihyde students tend to be quite introverted, and you were no exception, you attended school events purely out of obligation, so how did a girl who only spoke to her group of three end up with someone like him? at first, it was annoying. part of you felt like everyone was seeing Vil as too superficial, or as if they all expected him to end up dating a movie star. no one imagined that this was the reason you had caught his attention: you never saw the superficial Vil that many thought he was.
ෆ anyone who doesn't really know him might have thought for a second that he'd end up changing you. some people have mistakenly believed that because you're so different, Vil would try to change something about you, which is far from the truth. he doesn't want a doll who's just a copy of everyone else; besides, that wouldn't be the person he fell in love with. he'd understand that you'd prefer to be comfortable because of the number of hours you spend in front of a computer, but he'd make sure your oversized hoodies were top quality and that your hair was perfectly styled so that no strands got in your face while you were programming.
ෆ Vil admires your ability to work with so much technology without blinking. he's someone who recognizes strength in others, and he knows yours is technology. in fact, he'd be the first to defend you if someone tried to make fun of you for your lack of social skills. his girlfriend can create code from scratch and deal with complicated technology, but this stranger trying to insult her can't even adjust his uniform properly? unacceptable.

Vil would be really careful when it comes to going out together, and honestly, it's precisely because of him that you've started going out a little more.
ෆ he feels you're his biggest anchor to the real world. for Vil, one of the most important things is knowing that in your eyes he's not just a superstar and that you expect perfection from him all the time. the lack of natural light in your room and the monitors on the desk became comforting at a certain point; it's the only place where he feels he can completely relax, something that has been incredibly difficult for him in recent years. but feeling your fingers run through his hair without having to worry about keeping it perfectly styled? that's probably the highlight of his week.

Because sometimes you find yourself pulling mean pranks on him just for the sake of it. His confused expression always cracks you up without fail. Of course, he makes sure to get you back twice as hard, because the great hero Sephiroth could never let his reputation be tarnished by the likes of you.
It’s very clear to all—even Zack, who just joined—that the two of you are very close. even in the afterlife, satoru still has a hold on you
two years after satoru's death, you were still stuck. you were suspended somewhere in between moving forward and barely holding on. the letter he left for you when the day finally came still sat on your dresser, untouched. it felt heavier than it looked, like it was watching you, waiting. you refused to open it, painfully aware of what it would do to you. opening it would undo everything—the slow, careful work you put into rebuilding yourself from nothing.
people loved to talk about the five stages of grief like they were checkpoints, like you could just move through them if you tried hard enough. you’d gotten stuck on two: denial and depression, looping endlessly. acceptance felt impossible. it meant admitting, fully and finally, that he was gone. and you couldn’t do that. you didn’t want to. as stupid as you sounded, holding the small parts of him you still had left kept him alive in a way.
his sunglasses sat in your nightstand drawer. sometimes, on quieter days, you’d put them on and let yourself pretend. it always brought you back to the beach—to that one perfect afternoon. you could still take yourself back to it if you tried hard enough: the sand slipping between your toes, the warmth of the sun on your skin, the breeze tugging at your hair. and satoru laughing, bright and loud, crouching beside his absurdly large sandcastle.
a kid had come out of nowhere, eyes wide as saucers.
“did you make that?” he asked, pointing at the castle and the ridiculous moat satoru had just finished.
“you know it!” satoru grinned, ruffling his hair like they’d known each other forever.
the two ran off to make an even bigger one than before, declaring you as their official judge/photographer. the photo was tucked away in your wallet, edges a bit worn from clutching to your chest folding it carefully multiple times. both of their eyes sparkled, satoru's usually pale skin slightly tanned. you'd give up everything to relive that day again. just once.
his blindfold was tied loosely around your favorite stuffed animal, the fabric slightly frayed now. that day he had won it for you at the local fair was the day he stopped wearing it around you.
“i want to make eye contact with you,” he’d said, like it was the simplest thing in the world.
all you could do was look away, flustered at his gesture.
“but doesn’t it overwhelm you?” you’d asked quietly. “and make you tired?”
he shrugged. "yeah, but it's worth it."
then he leaned in, close enough that you felt his breath before his words.
"you're worth it."
everything shifted after that.. he started turning off his infinity around you, too—just in case you wanted to pull him closer. just in case you needed him.
the bottle of his cologne still sat on his nightstand. you never moved it. when his pillow finally lost his scent, you started spraying it onto your pillow so your dreams could be filled with him. it just enough to trick yourself, just enough to blur the line between memory and dream. it was the sweetest kind of torture, sleeping as much as you could so you could be with him. in your dreams, he was still there. still laughing, still warm, still yours.
and then you'd wake up.
and it would hit you all over again: cold, sharp, unforgiving. the empty space beside you. the silence. the way everything felt just a little too big without him in it.
it was a cycle. a painful, deliberate one. but in some sick, twisted way, it worked. because in your dreams, he was still there. still laughing, still warm, still yours.
the space he left behind was too noticeable to bear when it stayed empty.
so instead, you filled it the only way you could,

Cuddling on Vil's chest, wrapped up in his lavander covers as his arms close around you like a vice, his fingers treading through your hair as you slept soundly. He watches over you with an amorous gaze. It was a stark contrast to how serious and strict he is day in and day out, ruling Pomefiore with an austere hand, chasing beauty and perfection like it was so easy.
"Mein Liebling, sleep tight. You deserve." He mutters.
His hair, usually put well together in a braid, was all over his shoulders, the tips getting a bit too long for his taste. But for now he liked how it was flowing, the sensation of his hair flying around against the wind. And you, sweet thing, liked to braid and play with it.
"So boldless to sleep like that. So trusting of me. Hmm, I could almost eat you up." He giggles to himself, unable to stop himself. But he doesn't care, you taught him to enjoy the simple, soft moments like these. And he's thriving on those.
The ones where he pulls you in to dance with him in the garden. Or how you choose to match clothes with him with a smile. When he acts, he acts for you, be in a heroic or villain role, because your love was the step he needed to heal from that insecurity of his.
"I love you, my gem." He whispers like a prayer into your skin, as he kiss your face and pulls you even closer, feeling how his heart beats in sync with yours.

Imagine Dante and Vergil get into a heated argument over something they refuse to inform you of. You brush it off as sibling rivalry, a classic issue that these two have an especially complicated history with, but after a few days, their tempers just don't simmer down.
It gets so bad that there's a full-blown screaming match one day, and while you and Nero did your best to try and diffuse the tension, neither brother was having it. It ultimately ended with Dante yelling, "Why don't you just go back to hell?!"
That made Vergil freeze up.
He was no stranger to insults and mocking words from his brother, and neither were you. You knew that the words Dante carelessly threw around didn't bother him, but this time, something was different. This time, what Dante said did affect him, in a profound, indescribable way.
The fight ended right there, not because a consensus had been reached or because of offered apologies, but because Vergil had enough. He turned around and left without exchanging words or even a glance at anyone.
A lesser being would have just moved quietly out of his way and watched him worriedly as he walked down the street, but you were not a lesser being. You ran after him.
"Vergil!" You shouted, surprised at how far he could get in such little time. He ignored you, but not in the "I-know-you're-there-I-just-don't-want-to-talk-to-you" way that he normally did. He was genuinely trying to block out your existence, to pretend that you weren't scrambling to catch up to him.
"VERGIL!" You shouted again, louder this time. He still didn't respond.
Finally, you caught up to him and reached for his arm, but he pulled away before your fingertips could even brush the fabric of his sleeve.
"Don't touch me." Those were the first words he would speak to you.
"Vergil, please," You began again, but he wasn't having it. He just kept on walking. "Come on, Vergil. You know Dante didn't mean any of what he said."
Vergil was still ignoring you. He wouldn't even look at you. He was staring off in a direction opposite yours, obviously trying very hard to keep you from seeing his face. You had a hunch as to why, but kept talking anyway.
"Even if Dante meant it, so what?" You followed him down a side alley, mentally debating whether to grab onto his arm and just drag him back home or not. "I don't agree. I want you to stay. I don't want you to go back to hell."
This made Vergil stop. You fought back a smile, knowing what you'd done. You'd boxed him into a corner: he could either keep walking and prove to you that he didn't care what you thought of him, undermining your relationship, or he could stand still and face you.
Vergil loved you, but he was a stubborn little bitch, so of course he found a way to circumvent this by stopping for a brief moment and then continuing on his trek.
"Vergil!" You groaned again, sprinting after him. "Please, stop, just talk to me. Whatever's going on, I can help!" Without even thinking, you threw yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his waist and in the process boxing his arms against his sides. He was trapped now.
"Let me go," He said, not as a command, but as a request. His voice was thick and strained; he sounded absolutely miserable. Of course you obliged.
You expected him to just resume walking, but he didn't. Instead, he turned around and sighed heavily, keeping his gaze on the ground. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he was holding back tears.
"I'm sorry," You told him, stepping forwards and placing your hands on his cheeks. "If I could take back what he said on his behalf, I would."
Vergil just chuckled and shook his head, pulling you into his chest. You sighed, practically melting into him, throwing your arms around his shoulders and closing your eyes.
"This is enough," He whispered, to which you just smiled.
