that pro-wool post that’s going round is bullshit. like i’m all for a bit of PETA-bashing but sheep don’t naturally grow shit-tonnes of wool, they’ve been bred to produce unnatural/unhealthy amounts of wool for human consumption. so by buying wool you’re subsidising the forced breeding of animals who have to be subjected to a stressful sheering process in order to live ‘normal’ lives. it’s the same bollocks as the ‘cows need to be milked’ thing. also all the ‘buy honey to save bees’ stuff. like bees don’t make a surplus of honey for the lols. the amount of surplus honey they make allows the hive to raise more Queens who go out an start new hives. if for-profit apiculturalists gave a shit about wild bee stocks the species would be doing way better, but in reality they want a bunch of honey to sell.

basically when capitalist farmers tell you that they’re in it to help animals be wary as shit.
