Summary:
Manic has been looking for Farrell for weeks now, new people are beginning to fill the streets and taking up his—their territory, it’s driving him crazy. He’s been seriously considering just moving away form the capital to take up something lame like fishing.
Nevermind the newcomers, the strangers filling all the empty houses, and the ugly billboards that have been slowly breaking down over the years, Mobotropolis is ugly now. Staying as long as he can is becoming difficult enough without all the other crazy stuff happening, but what can he really do about it?
Aimless and heartsick, Manic considers finding a way to leave home, until he meets a charming stranger who might just show him there's still reasons to stay.

He's written a Sonic x Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover that's got 18 entire chapters!! WOO!! It's got angst! It's got tragedy! It's got Sonadow!! What more do you want, really

Once again a very chaotic Big Bang for me,, My laptop died near the end and I had to run around screaming to get a new one set up and my art done in time, cutting it close after 3 all nighters; and thus becoming nocturnal, riiiiight before the posting date.. again... And then I got sick on posting time, haha,,
Although I had a lot of fun once again and I highly recommend looking into participating!!! :D Thanks to the staff for another year, yippee!! Let's hope for another one!

Last year I entered @sthbigbang with a Sonic AU based on a movie-verse X Ghibli based AU. This year I'm entering the event with another AU, this one a little more torturous:
I've got 18 chapters of enemies to lovers, slow burn Sonadow, Angel fights and a mystery centering Tails that's just waiting to unravel.
Chapter 1 is on my AO3 right now, chapters 2 and 3 will be uploaded on Monday and Tuesday respectively after which I'll be switching to a weekly upload on Saturday, so stay tuned because I'll be uploading for a while ;)
Fic Summary:
Yesterday, Angels were the messengers of God.
Today, Angels are the creatures destroying the world.
When Tails dissapears from the EVA project, Sonic goes on a warpath to discover what happened to his younger brother. But in a world fighting for survival, clinging onto waning hope, will he succeed when he joins the vipers nest that is NERV, or will he end up the same as his brother?
In the throes of Angels, death and allies, Sonic regains more than he ever expected and loses more than he thought he ever had.
The questions and horrors only pile up, however our blue hedgehog can't help but ask:

Hi I'm alive and working on my piece for STHBB2026. Moving on, I think I will rework on LGE and work on it to integrate it into an au I've been writing for a while. No I'm gonna go through the LGE tag and add Chaos Object AU or something else idk it's 1 am but I swear I've been thinking of this for weeks now. This has been a PSA bye. 🦄
Hello everybody! We're back early for another year of Big Bang to give you all some insight on how we intend to run the 2026 event.
This post is largely intended for those who have participated in previous Sonic Big Bangs, and is not intended as a guide to our event for any newcomers, though anyone is welcome to give it a look-through. Regardless of whether you're a Big Bang veteran or not, please keep an eye out for our event announcement post, as that will include our full guidelines and all necessary info regarding SBB 2026!
Here is a quick overview of our most notable changes:
We will be limiting the amount of writers accepted into the 2026 event (writers will be able to alternatively sign up as an artist or beta reader).
We will be requiring writers to submit a summary upon sign-up, and an outline at the start of the event.
There will be an OPTIONAL theme this year!
We will be starting earlier than previous years to give participants more time to work on their pieces.
Artists will have less check-ins and they will be less frequent than writer check-ins.

☆ Writer Cutoff
We are introducing a writer cutoff for the Sonic Big Bang 2026. This is being done in order to balance the ratio between artists and writers, meaning that there will be more artists per writer. We cannot provide a definitive number of writers that will be accepted into the event at this time, but ideally the amount of slots available would be 80 or more.
Because we are introducing this cutoff, we will be providing writers the opportunity to alternatively sign up as an artist or beta reader in the case that they are not accepted as a writer. That way, everyone who signs up to be a writer still has an opportunity to participate in some capacity.
☆ Writer Summaries
If you wish to sign up as a writer, you will be required to submit a summary of the story you intend to write for the event. This summary will be the one provided to artists when choosing which fic they would like to work on, so keep this in mind as you are writing it. The 2026 sign-up form will be editable, so if you wish to change or tweak details about your story summary, you may do so up until sign-ups close.
Please make sure you are satisfied with your summary before the sign-up form closes, as it will be the basis of the story you will be working on for the duration of the event.
Our full content guidelines will be outlined in a future announcement, but for now, here are the basic requirements for what we are looking for in a summary:
Title (even if it's just a placeholder)
Summary (100-300 words describing the plot of your story)
Estimated word count
Characters featured
Pairings featured (if any)
Any trigger warnings or content warnings
Any additional notes
Regarding word count: Our minimum requirement for this event is 4,000 words. While we do not enforce an upper limit and you are welcome to make your fic as long as you'd like if you think you can handle it, we highly encourage you to limit your fic to a maximum of 10,000 words. In any case, please understand that your fic must be completed in its entirety by the end of the event, and plan accordingly for that fact.
☆ Writer Outlines
At the start of the event, writers will be asked to create an outline for their fic. This is a new requirement, designed so that staff and your collaborators can better understand your story's direction and begin to support your vision.
An outline should essentially be an overview of your story, including the start, end, and any major events in between that you find worth mentioning. It can be a list of planned events, or an in depth explanation of your story beat by beat, whatever way you feel most comfortable presenting it works for us. We will not be holding you to this outline if you find that a certain element of your story won't work out, but we will expect your finished fic to be somewhat similar to the concept provided in your outline.
We understand that some writers prefer not to use an outline and instead figure their story out as they write it, but due to the collaborative aspect of this event, it will remain a requirement. If you have never utilized an outline when writing before, we encourage you to just try your best. You will not be penalized or disqualified for the thoroughness of your outline, so long as a clear and concise concept is presented.
☆ Event Theme
For the very first time in Big Bang history, we are introducing a theme for the event: Friends & Foes! All writers and artists are encouraged to engage with and implement this theme into their pieces, but it is not a requirement. You are still welcome to write or draw whatever you'd like for this event (as long as it is within our guidelines, of course)!
Writers, if you do not already have a plan for your story, we encourage you to use this theme as a prompt! As for artists, you are encouraged to highlight moments in your writer's fic that employ this theme through your art!
☆ 2026 Schedule
We cannot provide the full schedule at this time, however, one of the bigger changes to the event will be when it begins. Sign-Ups will open in late November, close in mid-December, and we will begin sending out invites by the end of December. Our hope is to have every participant invited to the event Discord server by the end of 2025. This is being done to give every participant more time to work on their pieces, as the planned posting dates for this Big Bang are the same as in previous years, June 21-23.
☆ Artist Check-Ins
Lastly, we have decided to change the amount of check-ins required for artists to 3, and they will be more spaced out and generally carried out later on than writer check-ins. The artist deadline will also be later on from the writer deadline than in previous years, to give artists more time to work on their pieces with access to their writer's completed story.

I was once a Jon Kent Superfan until his age up, and I think that's what snapped me out of it. I didn't agree with you that Jon Kent had no depth what so ever. But when I realized that I only liked the fact he was a cute kid but other than that, without it, he is no fun. I'm currently reading Pre Crisis comics, and I never had more fun reading comics before, so much better than anything DC wrote for Jon Kent.
!!! Welcome to the pre-crisis fan club (I'm assuming the crisis you're meaning is Flashpoint, but if it's COIE or any of the other many crisis events, my apologies for being mistaken).
Also apologies that you will never be able to view anything DC has put out since 2011 ever the same again. Although the pre-New 52 universe has its fair share of duds, as a whole it is leaps and bounds better than what DC is doing now. The New 52 was the single worst thing DC has ever done and they have never fully recovered.
I should say the thing that drives me the most insane about Jon is there is so much fucking potential given his backstory. SO much fucking potential. He's a Kryptonian/Human hybrid son of Superman, there's so many ways they can take that and yet DC wastes it on making him a Walmart-brand copy of his dad but a little gayer.
I've always said the way they should've taken Jon was to make him reject the Superman mantle. Show him before that struggling to come to terms with the fact that he's Superman's son and feels like he has a legacy to live up to. Feels like he has to take over for his dad someday because everyone expects him to. He can easily confide in Damian about this as Damian is probs one of the few people who really understands that same pressure.
Then there's a breaking point where Jon realizes that he just simply does not want to be Superman and rejects the mantle. Clark is not angry but really confused because boy he could've sworn that Jon wanted to follow in his footsteps (Jon didn't, but he loved his dad so he first thought he did and later acted like he did). Show all that angst and miscommunication there.
Maybe Jon goes and talks to Kon during this time for advice because they have polar opposite experiences. Kon always wanted to be Superman but felt like he couldn't earn it while Jon had never truly wanted to be Superman but had it handed to him on a silver platter. Very interesting dynamic to explore.
Then you have a long arc where Jon goes and discovers himself. Hangs up the cape for a little while. Discovers what life is like outside of the superhero world. Maybe his mom helps him with this. Jon learns to be someone other than Superman's son, he learns to be himself.
AND THIS IS WHERE YOU BUILD UP HIS FUCKIN CHARACTER!!! Since it is comic books it's not like there will never be action, of course there will, but it will be situations where Jon feels obligated to act because it's the right thing to do. But he doesn't do so as a "Super", he does so as himself (not revealing his identity just. not as Superman's son).
Also during this soul searching period is when he realizes he's bi and you can also do a whole thing with that.
And then slowly but surely he starts to realize that he can be a hero without just following in his dad's footsteps. He figures out how to do it on his own terms. And he comes back to heroing. I'm torn about whether or not he'd still wear the "S" or decide to do his own thing after that but either way you get the picture.
If DC wanted him to be a compelling character, then they absolutely could've done it. But DC doesn't care about good storytelling anymore. They are riding the remnants of the good storytelling they did in the 80s-00s until they crash into a wall.
Having to navigate someone's entire life story of how they became a witch in order to get to the part where they actually talk about the gods-damned banishing ritual
Can not emphasize enough that there are IRL articles about spells and witchcraft that read like that. It would not be that much of a stretch to go full recipe blogger.
