trying to practice rendering backgrounds a bit, so I decided to draw Buizel hunting for its lunch. Water is fun to draw

One of the main protagonists of Misery Industry! Maple is a college student majoring in botany in the town of Cherryton, where she grew up. She's been gardening since she was a little kid and grows all kinds of plants, which she likes to bake into pies and cakes and whatnot. Between her baking and Arch's robotics, their shared apartment is usually a mess. It doesn't help that her pet can't help sticking his nose everywhere except where it should be. She has a habit of daydreaming a lot, and it gets in the way of the things she's trying to do. Her moms were both firm believers in Ralos, and it helps her keep a positive outlook on life knowing that she has a purpose and everything will turn out okay.

I'm making a bestiary for creatures in my fictional solar system. Here is the first page!
Coastal shadows avoid settlements on land because they don't want to be involved in political affairs as they know they could easily be wiped out if they were discovered. They are the oldest sapient species on Querel, yet the least technologically advanced, relying mainly on magic. They will occasionally come up to the surface to disguise themselves as land animals and study them, occasionally bringing them back with them for further research or for food. Their markings are primarily used for communication and luring prey.
