Billy being part of a motorcycle gangggggggg
Harrington holdsthe tongue in his hand as he slouches richly in that ornate, high-backed chair; his throne.
“This isn’t what Imeant,” Harrington says dryly, tosses the severed muscle at Billy’s feet wherehe stands at the edge of the makeshift dais, below the salt, “when I told youto shut him up.”
Billy hands are filthywith dried blood, caked under the nails, flaking between the knuckles. “I brokehis jaw to get it all out; you’re being ungrateful.”
“I just want youto follow simple fucking instructions, Hargrove.” Harrington, King Steve, leans forward, frowns. “Wantyou to listen to me when I speak.”
“I always listen to you,” Billy snarls, turnedsour by Harrington’s disinterest in his gift; he’s unappreciated. Feels angerburn, acidic, in the column of his throat.
Unnerving,Harrington stares, looks at Billy like he’s bored, like he wants to start something. His lips part, tongue running over glinting-whiteteeth. “Heard something that concerned me,” he says suddenly, voice soft butdangerous. Latent threat.
Billy waits, likea good boy; a dog with the loyalty kicked into him. Looks to Harrington because he’s only known one orbit.
“Little birdie toldme you wanted to leave,” Harrington starts, low, “that you wanted to move on.”
A violent, viciousfeeling shudders up Billy’s spine, teeth bared. “So what?”
Harrington shrugs, like he’s not about to make Billy squirm. “I can’t make you stay.”
Billy flinchesautomatically, knows that manipulation too well. His recovery is a weak, feckless thing. “No, you can’t.”
“But I would hateto have to send someone after you.” His hand comes out, thumbs at Billy’s jaw, waiting to send sharp knuckles digging into a familiar cheek. “Hate to comeafter you myself.”
Billy lets loose alie, hope it pierces beneath flesh and bone, buries itself in the meat of Harrington’sheart. “I don’t belong to you, Steve.”
Harrington smiles, cruel. Shoves Billy back with a single finger to the chest, the same fingerthat has Billy’s initials tucked between the first two knuckles; Billy’s notthe only loyal one. “Of course not.”
Silence crowds thespace between them, smothering, until Steve gives a non-laugh. It scrapes over Billy’sskin like a rusty nail.
“Go on then, baby,”Harrington says, tilts his head towards the door, flashes his teeth like a wildanimal. “But you and I both know that your home has only ever been at my feet.”
