Op, I need you to understand I forgot you had a cat.
You should all thank God I have no capacity to write fiction. Otherwise I would have written a Modern AU Fanfic of the Voyager Crew getting stuck in IKEA after closing time.
The same number of people die.
sometimes kira looks like this to me
Op, it’s more like this:
more janeway stuck in a medieval holodeck sim because I think she can be sooooooo normal with the powers of a divinely ordained king and no starfleet code to muzzle her. i think she can be trusted with this no question don't worry abouuut it
finally testing out my upgrade csp on my new laptop and @hingabee asked me to draw "ziyal nog and jake playing minecraft"

absolute peak
Ziyal has an unfair advantage, she was imprisoned in a mine.

She says hello
She says hello and also that she's gone blind fairly suddenly due to sudden acquired retinal degeneration syndrome so if you have any tips on supporting a blind pet, I'd love to hear them!
Apparently she's recovered partial vision and the doctor is baffled! Love my beautiful medical mystery.
Tell dogo she is a good girl.

Hey guys i think there should be more julian & odo bonding since they both have experimented-on-in-a-lab-for-your-own-good trauma from their growing up time and i think we could do something with that
Why is it cold outside it's pissing me off
Insects needed to have the respawn timer fixed.
look at them!
Me and the bad bitch I pulled by having Prothean data uploaded into my brain.
It will be done 👹
So I'm absolutely tired of not being aware of star trek species both major and minor. So I am determined to make my own little book for them with information on sub species, main species, how genetics work ect No this is not a actual official book that will be published bc I don't have the rights to anything star trek related, this is just bc I like having information at the snap of a finger. yes I am aware of the star trek official encyclopedia. No they don't have everything I want. And finally, this is because I found out about a sub species of the andorians called the Aenar and I'm in love
Like look at them 🥺 So this will be a project for me to do. PLEASE DROP STAR TREK SPECIES FOR ME TO ADD MAJOR AND MINOR (and reblog for traction bc I can't do this alone everyone)
Chameloids. The Section 31 Movie made them non-humanoid. And considering they can pick up vices like smoking, despite appearing to lack lungs, it leads to some fascinating ideas.
I want to talk about Star Trek Beyond.
I grew up in that weird in-between time during and post-ENT so the first piece of Star Trek media I was exposed to were the reboot films. I liked them well enough, but it wasn't until I first watched TOS a few years ago that I really started to appreciate Beyond for what it is.
To be frank, Beyond feels like the only reboot film made by someone who actually likes Star Trek.
The first two films are pretty much straight action films, with the second banking on the popularity of Wrath of Khan and falling into the post-The Dark Knight wave of gritty action epics.
Visually: the light colors and slightly lighter tone (though it does succumb to some dark action moments that I have to believe were the only way to get the film into the space-action-film niche the studio wanted it to maintain, and all of the absolutely amazing alien makeups and prosthetics pop off the screen so well (and they're all practical effects!!!!), they remind me of all the makeups in TOS
I have so many emotions about the ships in this film--about the Kelvin pods named after the crew that Kirk's father helped save, which in turn saved the Enterprise's--about how the ship that rescues them is named the USS Franklin, after the director's father Frank Lin who introduced his son to Star Trek as a child.
THERE IS SO MUCH LOVE AND COOPERATION IN THIS FILM
the fact that Kirk gives the key to a random ensign, trusting her and his crew with the macguffin of the movie
the undying trust Kirk has that his crew survived and their faith that he will come for them
Uhura steadfastly claiming that she sacrificed herself in Kirk's place because he would have done the same in a heartbeat
the crew working to piece together information on their own so that when they are reunited they can fight back
Captain Edison as the lone man remaining from his own crew and how his loss of purpose was sparked by Starfleet's peaceful cooperation with worlds they were once at odds with (and how he berates the Enterprise crew for being unwilling to give up each other to save their skins)
Scotty encouraging Jaylah to open up and trust them like he trusts his crew and his captain
Kirk specifically protecting the crew in the Altamid fight and then refusing to leave without Jaylah
the photo of the Enterprise crew that original timeline Spock kept for how many years??
the "boldly go" monologue being performed by the entire crew before the end credits!!
Is it a little over the top? yes. Is it a little silly? yes. Do all the plot points make sense? no.
But it's got the fantastic spirit of early Trek media that's so missing in the first two films.
They called the little drones “bees” but the Enterprise acted more like a communal hive than Krall. Krall acted more like a parasitic wasp.
This movie is the argument for mutalistism vs parasitism on a societal level. In this essay I will…
Ok I'm sorry.
He looks weird even for a Discovery Andorian but ok the design changes for Andorians from series to series I can forgive this even if he looks a bit like chewed gum.
I'M SORRY BUT HE SHOULD BE A FUCKING WOBBLECAT WITHOUT *BOTH* OF HIS ANTENNA!!!!
THE FUCKING NEED THOSE!!!!!!
Shran lost HALF of one (1) in a clean cut and after medical attention was still doing this:
Because they NEED them for vision, hearing, and balance!!!! Like ok I get it's the far future and evolution and devices shit but like please at least fucking say something!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They even regenerate after being cut. Yes, they said they cauterized them. But what stops them from cutting a bit lower down and having them try to grow out again?
YES!!!!!
And ok also another rant "they cut them off to make him a pariah" OK but writers do you know why that would make him a pariah?!?!?
Because when they don't have their antenna they do shit like this
Ass over teakettle bullshit
(Now granted that was a pretty extreme example, Shran the most hyperactive Andorian ever alive was hopping around on a strange ice slope after a fresh injury) but still.
They're not just emotional or sexual indicators they're full-on sensory and balance organs. That's what's primarily shameful about losing one even though it's temporary; it fucks them up. BAD. Most of the stigma comes from the disabling nature of the injury (The loss of physical prowess/competency, and loss of independence due to the reliance on others, things that are highly valued culturally), and how that's indicated in a very obvious way when one is lost.
If they can't grow back for some reason (I'll admit I haven't gotten far in this season yet, but fucking ouch for cauterization!!!) that would honestly probably be more disabling because some of that "adjustment" might actually be the tissue healing and nerves reconnecting, which would probably make him worse off.
Like the fact that losing some of one qualifies as an injury too disabling to continue a Ushaan to the point that it settles the matter in favor of the antenna cutter (which was like. A pretty noteworthy thing on Enterprise, that's not just a total throwaway trivia bit. I think a lot of people who saw it probably remember the duel) would maybe have made that worth mentioning at least a little?!?!?
Like "oh my God both of them?" "Yeah he's got a [device] to keep him upright, but one wrong move and they switch it off"
Like c'mon.
Bruh, I expected him to need forearm crutches to get around.
Imagine that as a compare and contrast that to Aurellio. A man who is willing working with Osyraa because she “gave him an opportunity.” Then you have Ryn, who by all intents and purposes, should not be ambulatory, and this was done to him on her orders.
Ok I'm sorry.

“Last terrorism, of the month, probably.”
