One piece au where on one of the adventures pre-timeskip Luffy (who is under the impression that the people in gray terminal literally burned to death instead of most of them being saved by the revs) sees one the people from gray terminal (they joined the revs after being saved) and he just stares at them. And one of the crew noticed and is like luffy?? You good??? But luffy just keeps staring at this random guy who eventually realizes hes being stared at before looking back and recognizing whos staring at him and luffy sees that hes been recgonized so it totally IS that guy from gray terminal who definitely burned to death and i feel like this is a very interesting and fun way to turn a chase through the city into meeting Sabo early :)

Or or different au but same flavor- a handful of people from gray terminal who survived and took some time to heal decided to join the revolutionaries but then they see sabo and are like omg heyyy sabo!!! Woah we didn't expect to see you here!! :)!! Are your brothers here too??? And sabo whos been there for like at least a year but maybe a few years by now just stares at them cause What The Fuck are they talking about and this could turn into him immediately passing out to gain his memories after being asked about his brothers or the gray terminals continually pestering him about The Good Ole Times so sabo slowly gets his memories back

I keep thinking about how what if the astrophage experiment didnt blow up and DuBois and Shapiro didnt die so Grace never went up to space. I keep thinking about a universe where Yao and Ilyukhina and DuBois survive rhe journey and end up in Tau Ceti and suddenly theyre stuck in the exact same situation as Grace was because engineer or not they do not have the capabilities that Xenonite gives eridians so theyre out there for a bit trying to work on a solution when an Alien Ship shows up. They see Blip-A and they are like What The Fuck and im just stuck wondering if in that world whether Yao and them would be willing to make that contact without hostility or too much paranoia that it affects things. Yao would feel responsible for his team and the mission and while i would like to think they would eventually end up making contact I don't think it would end up as smooth as with Grace and Rocky because they wouldn't be alone and desperate. I feel like part of what made Grace and Rocky become so dependent upon each other is that they were all each other had so the dynamics would be off. I just keep imagining Grace and Rocky on their way to Erid passing by a -something spacey- that makes the universes thin and I wonder what it would feel like to see and meet these other people in a universe so close to theirs who arent hand in hand codependent the way GraceRocky ended up as and I wonder if they would be able to succeed at all without two lucky aliens being both absurdly lucky and also willing to sacrifice everything for each other.

truly some people have no genre savviness whatsoever. yeah actually we removed the big bad wolf from the little red riding hood story because portraying violence against minors is really messed up. yeah. yeah also the wolf narrative was really predatory and had had some icky grooming vibes and a fable meant for literal children shouldn’t have implied p*do shit and grape so now little red riding hood goes into the woods and nothing happens and she goes to grandma’s house. don’t worry our kids will still stick to the path and know not to follow to wolves implicitly because we told them to and children should always do as their told. just like little red riding hood does now.
