HOLLANOV FIC REC
This fandom just loves Hanahaki! Gotta be real, I wasn't sure about it, but once I started reading the fics I was obsessed. What do you mean the physical manifestation of your love is killing you? What you mean the symbol of beauty and youth and innocence and hope is suffocating you? What do you mean there's a way to save yourself? What do you mean you choose to die with your love rather than live without- every. single. time?! On god. I never stood a chance. 💖remember to kudos & comment on fics you read 💖
Hanahaki Disease
🏒 We Both Go Down Together by NotALonelyTraveler - 34k Hanahaki disease is not supposed to happen to actual people, sitting on actual stairwells with sweat cooling on their skin, with an actual game in two days that has a sponsorship contract riding on it. Shane curls his fingers slowly around the petal, like if he hides it, if he doesn’t look at it, it might stop being real. - the one where Shane is one of the lucky few humans in the world predisposed to Hanahaki disease. He copes with it as well as you might expect. zannithinks: this got me. I had suspicions, but yeah let's just sum it all up as OW. This one takes you on a fucking journey. Absolutely fantastic world building and OC's. Rose, Cheddar, and Amira are the real MVPs.
🏒 Root Rot by Content_Scrapbooker - 26k Shane Hollander loved Ilya Rozanov, so much that it was going to kill him. He has to make the most of the time he has left after the Olympics, before the roots really take hold. - your basic Hanahaki Disease fic, full of pining, mild body horror, sex, and eventually some well-earned comfort. zannithinks: there's something so lovely about the longer fics like this that truly explore the consequences of hanahaki and the dire situation it puts the boys in. Hurts so good to see Shane on the floor grieving a life over love he can't even regret.
🏒 at the lonely end of the rink, you and me by vahosi / @vahosi - 13k The first time Ilya coughed up a flower, he was kneeling over a toilet in the penthouse of the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, for entirely the wrong fucking reason to be kneeling over a toilet in Vegas. - the Hanahaki AU, in which Ilya loves Shane Hollander’s stupid face so much it makes him sick (literally) zannithinks: this one goes further with the disease than we typically see and I was so captivated by the specific lore they'd built around it's stages and symptoms. Lasting complications just make it feel a lot more real, yes?
🏒 my love's ugly bloom by Anonymous - 10k Shane sends him a text that says 'thinking about your cock' with a picture of his rippling abs... He has to duck out of the team weight room so he can cough up a fistful of petals. So. - Ilya gets Hanahaki disease zannithinks: oh this one truly hurts for awhile there. This is a fantastic insight to the inner-workings of Ilya's head, so spot on.
🏒 It Grows Down Deep by a_stray_thief (ashtraythief) / @a-stray-thief - 8k Shane stares at it, uncomprehending. It’s impossible. He’s not in love. And yet, right there on his bathroom floor, announcing his doom like it’s not delicately beautiful, is a small light pink petal, rounded at the bottom with a sharp tip. - After Shane runs out of Ilya’s house post tuna melt, he develops Hanahaki. zannithinks: honestly this one is cuuuuuuute <3
🏒 you saved me from myself (and i didn't even realize) by xarahinthedark - 7k Shane doesn't eat much—he attributes it to watching his carb intake and needing to stay light and speedy, and for no other reason at all. And definitely not because of the flowers that keep him full these days. zannithinks: This is definitely a 'it gets worse before it gets better' oof! Watch out if you have any issues with ED, this is not a fic for the faint of heart.
🏒 A Dozen Forget-Me-Nots by technicallyverycowboy / @technicallyverycowboy - 6k (Shayden) Hayden coughs up the first petals the night Shane's trade to Ottawa is announced. - Hayden doesn't have hanahaki and if he does, it's purely platonic and if it's not, nobody ever has to know. Especially not Shane. zannithinks: WOW! Everyone and their mother knows I adore Hayden. This fic was SUCH a wonderful exploration of Hayden's capacity to love and the anxiety of being honest about it. Ilya and Jackie were especially great in this.
🏒 All I Do is Stay Winning by Ragazza_Guasto / @artisanbloodbank - 5k “Rozanov? What the fuck?” He jumped up from the table and stumbled for the front door, just barely making it through before the first mass of petals came up. He heaved as he ran, trying desperately to get away from the pavement, somewhere he could hide what was happening. zannithinks: this gave me the warm fuzzies, such a good ratio of angst to fluff imo! The involvement of the team reactions and the connection made to his mother had me shook, really grounded the story to balance out the cute sweetness of the end.
🏒 Find what you love by jrweeny - 4k Shane Hollander was generally not a man who took many risks... He hadn’t accounted for Ilya Rozanov. - Hanahaki AU where Shane tries to ignore his feelings until he really, really can't anymore. zannithinks: The first fic I've seen include the perspective of the person who doesn't have the flowers. The whole story is great, but that second chapter was SO wonderful and refreshingly new to read.

Please Reblog this ✨
It seems like many people missed that little exchange between Abbot and Al-Hashimi (don't blame you, they're both so hot I had to rewind several times).
Basically what Al-Hashimi says is that she worked in Kabul, Afghanistan and specifically in 2020 at the maternity wing of a hospital. In May of 2020 there was a massacre at the maternity wing which is located in Dasht-e-Barchi (that's what Abbot is referencing, that's why he follows up with "Tragedy.").
Given the scenes with the baby girl in the first episodes and now Al-Hashimi making a phone call to the Neuroscience Group to book an appointment with her doctor, she clearly has some sort of PTSD.
Can't wait to see where her storyline goes next. Sepideh does a phenomenal job with this role so far.
I feel fed chat.

I don't want to get my hopes up but I need show Harris to be full on fat so fucking bad you dont understand 😩
I think they should be betting on how long it will take for someone to slap the shit out of ogilvie, who will it be and how hard or over what
I'm ashamed to admit as a professional shipper that I binged the pitt s1 and MISSED all of THE ships
andreil in the heated rivalry ecosystem. again.
i can’t stop myself
me, coming across a video of someone complaining about the fashion at the oscars: wait they already did that?
me, seeing a photo of harry styles in what I can only describe as a pair of bedroom slippers and skirt on a stage: oh wait the grammies happened already??
me, in the food store listening to my friend talk about how we should get stuff to make nachos so we can eat them while watching the super bowl: wait that's this weekend???
me, scrolling on tumblr and seeing someone else post about the olympic opening ceremony: wait that already started????
WHY IS THIS SO GOOD?!
They put drugs in this show, and this edit is the closest I've come to being able to snort it like cocaine. Excluding binging the entire show in 6 hours after first turning on episode one to see what all the fuss was about.
