Listen. I'm not generally a Stepford Wives kinda guy. But ladies......if during the course of being strong, intelligent, independent women you should decide to do some pantsless baking in heels, chances are the man on your life is going to be very appreciative. Judging by my visceral reaction to this picture, I know I would be. Hope you Americans have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow and make some fond memories in the kitchen.
Whereabouts
I haven't been posting here much lately, but that doesn't mean I haven't been around. A while back I mentioned that I had started a new blog that would deal mostly with my running efforts and weight loss. An injury and some other factors resulted in my letting things taper off over there for a bit. That being said, I've recently started posting over there more, as opposed to here. There are a number of reasons for this, which I won't bore you with, but if you happen to be one of the few people who is interested in keeping tabs, you can find me over here.
At this point, I've only followed a few of those who I've had the most interaction with both on and off of Tumblr. That's not to say I won't follow some of you again as I sort of find my feet over there.
As for this blog....I'll probably close it at some point in the future. I haven't set a definitive timeline on it yet.
Tread water.
Treading water has always been a really stupid thing to me. Like, why the hell do I need to learn how to tread water in swimming class? I want to swim! As I got older, I learned that treading water was to basically save your life if you ever happened to be stuck in the water,...
Most people won't take the time to read this, but I'm glad I did.
I always rush into memorizing songs. I get a good album, and listen to it on repeat nonstop, and I tend to get frustrated with the time between buying the album and being able to sing along. But listening to an album that you know 0% of the songs has so much beauty in the experience.
I got Amanda Palmer’s new album yesterday, and I’m trying to just let myself listen to it and not be frustrated that I’m so unfamiliar with it, because it’s good and I want to know it all right away, but it’s better this way. Me and this album need a courtship.
Look, I don’t say this, but

In every way.

Everything zen.
I think those yellow-spined books in the bottom right are Nancy Drew's. I know this because I used to be an avid reader of the Hardy Boys, which had the blue spines. Those were the first books I really started consuming voraciously. I'm not sure which came first....my love of solving mysteries or reading those stories. I probably sold them in a yard sale back when I was in high school or university. I hope they found a good home and someone else got as much enjoyment from them as I did.
I'm going to be out of town for work all next week, and you better believe I'm going to take advantage of my free evenings by going to see the comic book movie where Bones goes to war with Cersei in a drug-fueled dystopian future.
Jim Aparo
ahh CLASSIC!
idsploder:
Reblogging because Jim Aparo Batman will always be my Batman.
There is a land, a land of shining goodness where each man protects his brother’s dignity as readily as his own, where war and want have ceased and all tribes live under the same law of love and honor. It is a land bright with truth, where a man’s word is his pledge and falsehood is banished, where children sleep safe in their mother’s arms and never know fear or pain. It is a land where kings extend their hands in justice rather than reach for the sword; where mercy, kindness, and compassion flow like deep water, and where men revere virtue, revere truth, revere beauty above comfort, pleasure or selfish gain. A land where peace reign in the hearts of men. Where faith blazes like a beacon from every hill and love like a fire from every hearth; where the True God is worshipped and His ways acclaimed by all.
-Stephen R. Lawhead, from Taliesin, Book One of The Pendragon Cycle
I’ve always been fascinated with Arthurian myth and legend…..the dream of Camelot and the Knights of the Round table. That there could exist this place of virtue and equality beholden to the idea that we are each other’s keeper.
It seems these days we stray further and further from that ideal. We are disjointed; fractured. Red vs. Blue. Black vs. White. Religion vs. Science. The human spirit is being crushed under the weight of intolerance and sophistry.
I’ve created this blog to share things that inspire. News stories. Photos. Movie quotes. Video clips. Music. It doesn’t matter what it is so long as it uplifts us and makes us see the possible and makes us want to be better.
These are our beacons of hope.
These are our letters from Camelot.

Reblogging this again for those who have better things to do on a Friday night. The person behind this blog is super cool (and handsome). It will probably only be a couple posts a day at most, so easy to follow. No drama. No politics. Just a reminder that humanity is worth it....and that we can be better.

Dear medical shows that aren't ER:
You're doing it wrong.
