Kandice put down the cup of tea, looking upon their guest. "Have you recovered any more memories last we met, Dr. Kirkland?"

The woman across from Kandice shook her head. "...You don't have to use that title with me. I don't deserve to be considered as such."

"Nonsense. You were not the one responsible for that tragedy after all." Kandice gave a small smile from under their mask. "However, if it makes you uncomfortable..." They took hold of the teapot, the scent of black tea filling the air. "Would you like anymore tea?" "I'm fine." "You haven't touched that cup. It's going to get cold." Nikola closed her eyes, making a face as if she kept thinking. "I'll still drink it. It'll be a waste." She sighed. "I just keep trying to remember..."

Kandice tilted their head. "Why would you want to remember the past anyways?" "Because- it's when I was happiest. Alec... It's the only time I can see him smile again." "Are you certain?" The teapot was sat down and a hand picked up one of the cookies sitting off to the side. "You know, you can make him happy now." "Like hell I can." Nikola's voice almost cracked with those words. "...He's afraid- convinced I'm the killer. He isn't going to take my word... and whenever he sees you, he freezes up." The Storyteller hummed. "That is true, but there is perhaps some hope. You just need to stop being pessimistic. How about this; you don't attack him the next match you have with him." They put a finger up. "It'll give you time to talk to him- I know you're quite capable of rendering a whole team gone before the dungeon even appears." "Heh, I wouldn't be able to get him to stop running." "Perhaps... It's still worth a shot, right? I know you're proud of that winning streak." Kandice nodded. "However, putting aside your pride for one match... wouldn't that be worth it to talk to Alec?"

"...Yes."

Are you ever compensated for patching up others?

“There is almost nothing anyone has in this manor that can be given as payment for being patched up... and what is there I have little interest in except for one thing: being able to study the effects this manor has on people.”

“I may be only able to patch up my fellow hunters, but they prove to be rather fascinating... they appear somewhat human, save for that damn robot, yet lack many human features. Corpses placed upon puppet’s string... I suppose that’s a theatrical way of putting it. Funny to say that when the survivors are the ones with buttons and doll features, huh?”

“Oi. Whatever business you have with me make it quick. I don’t have time for nonsense. Very busy outside of matches patching some of these reckless assholes up. If you want to go make amicable chatter, I’d suggest you find someplace else...”
