ā¦[Grantaire] was, himself, moreover, composed of two elements, which were, to all appearance, incompatible. He was ironical and cordial. His indifference loved. His mind could get along without belief, but his heart could not get along without friendship.
Victor Hugo, Les MisƩrables (via boys-of-the-barricade)
I want to be drunk and loved
As you rest your head on my shoulder, I felt the weight of your world And it was so heavy And it worries me. You must be so brave To carry that on your own.
Sean GacutanĀ (via havishams)
So I drank one, it became four, and when I fell on the floor I drank more. Nothing has changed, I still love you, I still love you.

Itās a most distressing affliction to have a sentimental heart and a skeptical mind.
Naguib Mahfouz, Sugar Street (via hplyrikz)
āGrantaire, earthbound in doubt, loved to watch Enjolras soaring in the upper air of faith. He needed Enjolras. Without being fully aware of it, or seeking to account for it himself, he was charmed by that chaste, upright, inflexible and candid nature.ā

ā± = being lost with them .
Enjolras stopped walking and leaned against the wall, shaking his head and folding his arms. Of all the idiotic imbecilic and utterly stupid thingsā¦
āI thought you said you knewĀ where this bar is! That is literally the only reason I allowed you to come with me!ā he snapped at Grantaire, sending him his most fierce glare.Ā āChrist! I should have known better than to trust you with this⦠You are utterly hopeless! I bet you were too drunk to pay attention to where you were going!ā He shook his head again and let out a heavy sigh.Ā āIf we donāt find it inā¦five minutes, Iām going back home!ā
send one for my museās reaction to your muse ā
āOh, absolutely not!ā He grinned and smoothed his hand across the lapel of Enjolrasā waistcoat. āBut, I expect you to trust me to speak the language of the common citizen on your behalf!āĀ
Enjolras scowled and batted Grantaireās hand away, sighing and shaking his head.Ā āWell, I suppose I have little choice. But youāre not just going in there to get drunk, do you understand me? I will be watching you likeā¦like Courfeyrac watches his hat.ā
Grantaire snorted with laughter at that. āSo not at all then, since apparently I shall be spending the remainder of the evening on the top of your head.ā He winked at Enjolras and started making plans to try and get him drunk.Ā
Iām not used to being loved. I wouldnāt know what to do.
F. Scott Fitzgerald, āMore Than Just A HouseāĀ (via illwriteyourname)
you cant tell me this isnt exactly what was going through their heads in this scene
And ah, my love remind me, what was it that I said? I canāt help but pull the earth around me to make my bed And ah, my love remind me, what was it that I did? Did I drink too much? Am I losing touch? Did I build a ship to wreck? (x)

āItās not that I think your cooking is bad! Itās just ⦠Not that good.ā
Eponine ran her hands down her run-down dress, an almost innocent pout gracing her lips. āMy cooking is of the heavens, loved by the biggest Parisian crooks, is what you meant to say to me Monsieur.āĀ
āā- āOuch!ā Grantaire rubbed his leg and smiled sheepishly. āMy thief despises me, trust me. I have tried to tell-ā he stopped himself before he could say āhimā. āSome loves areā¦illegal and insulting andā¦completely denied by the object of your affection itās just how life is.ā
āHim? Oh mon amiā¦ā Ćponine stood up, rummaging through the cabinets before returning to Grantaireās side with another bottle of wine - one which she kept solely for emergencies. āI cannot let you live in such despair.ā But she knew there was nothing she could do but to be by his side and pray his pain would pass.
Grantaire glanced at the bottle with a sad and crooked smile. āAnd so you intend to kill me with drink? You wonāt be the first to try.ā He gave her shoulder a little squeeze. āThank you though, mon amie. Thank you for trying. Itās alright, I can get by. I will be alright.ā
Constellations
Grantaire pulled out his own notebook.
āI might as well share these with someone before I die.ā He handed it over to him, deciding he didnāt even care if he saw his more intimate sketches.Ā
Javert raised a brow when Grantaire spoke.Ā
āIf you believe you are going to die, then why are you here?ā He asked, though Grantaireās statement was probably the most realistic thing he had heard all day. With a bit reluctance, the man accepted the notebook, peering at the man in front of him for a moment before turning his gaze to the book.
Grantaire smiled bitterly at the question, if Grantaire didnāt already know the man wasnāt a usual in their group, the question certainly proved it. āIām here because I have to be. The only thing I value, the only thing I treasure, the only thing I believe in in this worthless pit of a world is here. If he goes I go. I donāt want to see tomorrow if he doesnāt.ā He shrugged as if it was as obvious and necessary as eating or sleeping.Ā
Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires.
