I will NEVER be over the gentle little "shh, you're okay" + a hair stroke from one character to another who's feverishly and fearfully mumbling in their sleep
The most delicious trait a defiant whumpee can have (in my opinion):
Bloody teeth.
Yes, give them a rough punch to the face, watch their bottom lip split open, wait a few seconds for them to spit a bit of blood onto the floor, then wait for them to raise their head and smile at you.
Look at their teeth, stained with blood!
I love that in particular.
Bonus points: include laughter + licking of their teeth or lips.
Beloved Whump Prompt #127
Forced to be hurt.
Whumpee cannot fight back or defend themselves because of the threat against Caretaker/their loved ones.
(Bonus point if it's combined with Forced to Watch - because I just love that shit)
Whumper saying they have a surprise for Whumpee in another room. They get there, and Whumpee doesn’t know whether to scream or collapse. In the room is an injured Caretaker, bound and gagged.
there’s something about hands:
• splayed flat over someone’s chest, a warm, grounding anchor. “easy. easy. lay still.”
• knuckles raked across a sternum. “come on back now… that’s it. there you are. deep breaths for me.”
• the vulnerability of uncovering a painful wound to let someone else inspect it. “i promise i’ll be really gentle, but i have to take a look.”
• gently frantic. “oh my god. is that blood? is all of that yours?”
• A held captive, strung up to the rafters by their wrists. B finally rushes in, clutches A’s face in their hands, tips their chin up. desperately searches for any hint of awareness. “A. A, look at me. please look at me. i need a medic over here!”
• B’s cool hand pressed against A’s fever-hot forehead. bonus points if they cup the back of A’s head with the other hand at the same time. A closes their eyes and leans into the touch ever so slightly.
Whumpee is able to provide a little too much information about Whumper during team meetings. Details that seem too personal to be dug out of research alone... the kind one would only know if they knew Whumper closely.
Team begin to suspect Whumpee is a traitor, a double agent. They stop listening to Whumpee's advice and suggestions during meetings because they think Whumpee is trying to trick them into one of Whumper's traps.
Now imagine the look on the Team's faces when they're captured because they didn't take the precautions Whumpee told them to.
Imagine the look on their faces when Whumper walks past all of them and goes straight to Whumpee because "It's so good to have you back, darling. I've missed you."
And Whumpee flinches.
whumpee making little noises of pain in their sleep.
whimpers…. groans…. sharp breaths…
they are in so much pain that even sleep isn’t an escape.
bonus points if caretaker is beside them, petting their hair and whispering “shh, shh. it’s okay.”
obsessed with guarded characters (reluctantly) falling sleep around another character(s), showing how much they trust them to put themselves in a position of absolute vulnerability, unwavering faith that they'll be protected and guarded while they recharge, the submission of being alert unfamiliar and strange in their chest, not used to being safe or away from danger enough to get proper rest, looking years younger when they fall asleep, the other characters fiercely always nearby and keeping the quiet around for them just a little while longer
Beloved Whump Prompt #90
"Oh, you are protective of this one, aren't you?"
Caretaker picking an injured Whumpee up off the floor and pulling them into their lap, back against their chest.
Whumpee being semiconscious, only able to manage a groan as their head falls back against Caretaker’s shoulder.
Caretaker playing with Whumpees hair and Whumpee in silent tears because it’s been so so long since someone had touched them without hurting them.
I love a dazed, out-of-it, purely broken whumpee. One who is so gone and dead to the real world, they don’t notice a single thing going on. Perhaps it’s a learned coping mechanism to get through the torture. Whumpee, who is pliant to whumper’s will and clocked out to the pain not because they want to, but because it’s the only way they get through it all. Perhaps it’s what whumper was waiting for—finally breaking them into an impossible, unrecognizable shred of a being doing barely more than living despite it all.
Whumpee, so mentally broken and having physically given up so completely that they are numb to anything happening to or around them. They see and hear and feel nothing.
Not whumper.
Not whumper’s continued torture.
Not even caretaker who’d only just rushed in, ready to fight for whumpee, hoping and praying that whumpee hadn’t yet perished, only to see them doing little more than staring up at nothing, eyes dull and unseeing, with their head rolled back, barely reacting more than the involuntary flinches of their body’s nervous system and not because the feel anything happening to them. Looking more dead than caretaker ever thought a still living being could be.
Dazed. Unresponsive. Gone.
And make sure a friend or loved one sees how broken they’ve become.
Yeah. Do that to your whumpees.
Whumper who comes to a realization.
When they grab Whumpee roughly — yank them around, shove them carelessly where they want them to be — Whumpee scowls. Snaps at them. Much more defiance than fear.
But when Whumper touches them softly…. lets their hands linger just a beat longer…..trails light fingers over Whumpee’s skin….that’s when they see the fear. The way Whumpee’s whole body tenses up as if preparing for something.
So Whumper decides to make some adjustments in how they handle their Whumpee from now on.
Forced to watch but Whumpee doesn't know that Caretaker is there.
Maybe this is a one-way mirror situation, something that's not out of the ordinary, in the same room as always, the same routine as always, but with Caretaker on the other side of the wall
Caretaker unable to do anything, horrified: maybe Whumpee's been there a long time and is accustomed to it, whatever that might look like
And then at the end of it all, that's when Whumper opens the door and reveals who's been watching the entire time...
Caretaker who cares so much.
Caretaker who is so grateful Whumpee is home safe. Who would do absolutely anything for them now that they’re back.
Caretaker who has to check on Whumpee every few minutes, even if they’ve been sleeping for days, just to make sure they’re still okay.
Caretaker who tosses blankets in the dryer just so Whumpee can be extra warm.
Caretaker who finds just as much peace in holding Whumpee’s hand as Whumpee does.
Caretaker who gives hugs that last longer than everyone else’s. Who pulls away teary eyed, because they know just how much Whumpee is hurting.
Caretaker who cries themself after Whumpee falls asleep, exhausted from another breakdown.
Caretaker who combs and untangles Whumpee’s hair so gingerly, careful not to tug too hard or rip out any strands by accident.
Caretaker who always leaves a light on at night for Whumpee so they’re not lost in the dark, and who gladly stays all night when Whumpee is too afraid to be alone.
I wanna see more drugged whumpees
Everything feeling foggy
Limbs heavy
Mouth to dry
Periodic black outs where whumpee doesn’t know what happened but isn’t in the same place or with the same person
Even better if they have like a bad trip, and are just completely bugging out, getting scared, fighting things that aren’t there, fighting people thinking their someone or something else
Either whumper drugged them, or they took the drug themselves just wanting to get high
I do love the visual of whumper behind whumpee, pressed up close to them, either standing or with whumpee on whumper's lap. Whumpee's hands out of the way, either through restraints or compliance, while whumper's are free to touch, to hold or explore them. Whumper speaking softly, right at whumpee's ear. Whumpee unable to turn their head far enough to face whumper, unable to speak directly to them or make eye contact unless there is a mirror- and it's a lovely trope with a mirror, too, whumpee seeing their own body unobstructed, but unable to ignore the shadow of whumper behind it.
