After going absolutely awol for months I am back with some hastily written poetryâŚ
Lifeâs been hectic- studying at two of the best colleges in the country simultaneously has certainly come with a pretty packed schedule; but as it happens there is a flash fiction competition taking place with a vaguely spooky theme for the upcoming Halloween season!
The guidelines stated that it had to be poetry or prose in under 200 words, so please enjoy this collaborative creation :))
Some Slight Context:
The title Crystallised Lovers is lifted from Stendhalâs philosophical texts, in which he details that the first stage of falling in love or developing a crush is âcrystallisationâ- a process during which according to him the object of oneâs longing becomes idealised in the pursuers mind due to their infatuation.
A massive inspiration for this piece was Porphyriaâs Lover (as Iâm sure is quite evident). Me and Em were both quite fascinated with the idea of approaching the open ended horror prompt from the angle of obsessive or destructive love and ended up landing on the following plot line:
A tragic tale of a queer victorian man unravels as he believes that by killing his gay lover heâd rid himself of the homosexual desires his partner evokes in him, but despite the lover passing the man still sees the traces of the deceased in his current wife; ultimately meaning the murder was entirely fruitless.
âFrankenstein is the name of The Doctor, not The Monster!â
the self-proclaimed intellectuals yell out, tormented by faux agony from such a foolish misconception of the common public.
I sigh as I deliver the following in monotone:
Letâs -for the sake of ludicrous indulgence- suppose that Frankenstein is indeed a doctor in the published narrative and proceed with a comparison to his creation, who often gets grossly mislabelled as the antagonist of this story. To keep it briefâ Victor, against his professorâs advice, attempts to summon life from mangled and sewn carcasses. Upon summoning said life, he heartlessly rejects it and refuses to henceforth be responsible for his own choices and actions. In rejecting his creation, he thus causes the misery of not only himself, but also every-single person heâs ever held dear.
Does that not sound more monstrous to you than simply trying to grab the attention of your negligent creator by any means necessary?
And if we were to take the less melodramatic path about this age-old argument; Frankenstein was a college student in his twenties who abandoned his studies in favour of indulging in his hubris. What on earth makes the masses believe he even so much as began working on his doctorate, eludes me.
In conclusion, not only is dear Victor Frankenstein not a doctor by any verifiable means, heâs also arguably the most villainous out of the cast we are provided by dear old Shelley. I thank you for making it all the way through this self-indulgent debate with no-one but the wall before meâŚ
Bringing you a small Valentineâs Day treat in collaboration w/ @skaepegoat!!
Itâs honestly been a good while since I indulged in some angsty Lonely Eyes contentâ shall you find yourself interested in the description below, feel free to check out the work on AO3 here!
â As I write to you now, I realise it might do you well to stay away at sea; relish in the hues of my irises all you can before you port in England. I fear the passing of Wright is not the only thing youâll have to mourn upon your arrival. â
Or
A series of telegrams exchanged between Peter Lukas and the man at present known as Elias Bouchard detailing the unfortunate incident accompanying the passing of James Wright.
I recon we shall publish more letter-based fics in the near future; its a handy and painless way of co-creating, I must say ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Chapter 2 of Regrettable Game has been posted and can be found on AO3 here!
If you happened to see the fic-trailer previously, please go and enjoy the updateâ and if you havenât you can find the summary bellow :)
â They stand and stare. They stand and stare in agonising silence and Whizzer has entirely too many thoughts comprising in his head, very few of them positive. In the span of one brief moment he forms a lecture-worth of chastisement and in the same second decides itâs really not worth wasting his breath on. In that passing instant of stillness he also -despite himself- manages to indulge the hideous deliberation that despite a whole year passing by, Marvin still looked good enough to eat. â
Or
Despite the implosion of his love affair with Marvin, Whizzer continues to maintain a fatherly relationship with the manâs kid. Jasonâs wits manage to eventually reunite the two, whether it be for the worse or for the betterâŚ
Reblogs, Kuddos & Comments help endlessly, especially over on AO3!
Any and all feedback is always appreciatedâ I am also still on a search for beta-readers so donât be afraid to reach out if youâre interested (ďź Â´ăź`)ďžďž
Pleased to announce that I have started working on a small Whizzer/Marvin fic and have already completed and edited the first chapterâ
Which in and of itself is a miracle considering it typically takes me 2 to 3 months to fully edit a one-shot⌠I digress, if you enjoy this trailer please consider reading the full chapter linked bellow!

He doesnât have men over on weekends.
And he would be the first to admit that itâs a truly tremendous sacrifice. Whizzer no longer spends his Saturdays driving out ridiculously far to hunt for estate owners in upscale country clubs or loiters in lavish jazz bars on Sunday afternoons, bearing the tight collars of starched shirts. No longer allows himself even the effortless privilege of picking out low-hanging fruit amongst the loaded-looking clients of the stylist agency if it means their stay might spill over the very tender brim of Friday night.
He knows heâs being much too careful, stupidly so. He knows this will only happen twice a month if heâs lucky, knows Trina would always call in advance, mid weekâ with plenty of notice, hurriedly spouting information into the receiver as the clanking of the telephone cord wiping out mixing bowls and other scattered silverware echoes distantly in the background:
âHey! Good eveningâŚâ her muffled voice would greet through the barrier of her shoulder tightly pressing the land-line against her cheek âIâll drop him off at roughly 12 on Saturday after practice. Heâll be hungry . â she would graciously inform before inevitably cursing the aforementioned cord for spilling a container of diced carrots âCall Mendel for pick up, heâll be in the area. Buh-bye!â and before Whizzer would even be able to squeeze in a quick farewell, the line would cut to a high pitched drone and disconnect with a robotic beep.
He always found himself smiling fondly after these brief exchanges, in admiration if anything else. She truly was a heaven-sent woman. How Marvin ever wooed her, Whizzerâd never know.
So, yes. He doesnât have men over on weekends.
Because he knows forgetfulness is regrettably a common side effect of keeping a family fed and afloat and prefers to be prepared in the unlikely situation that Mendel or Trina show up at his door with the kid, unannounced. Prefers to be prepared in situations much like today, when he hears the drill of his age-old door bell at what must be only eight in the morning judging by the fresh quality of the sunlight that was spilling through his window over onto the plush bedroom carpet.
Checking his wristwatch to affirm his belief, Whizzer groaned in mild annoyance and got up, wrapping his satin robe around himself for the sake of maintaining a modicum of modesty when facing the ex-wife of his ex-lover. Rubbing the mild wine-induced hangover from his eyes and briefly ruffling his hair in the corridor mirror in a weak attempt to make himself look at least half-awake, he reached for the handle of the front door a cheerful greeting in preparation for a quick polite exchange already forming on his lips.
But any quips about in-advance over the phone notices all but died there and then as he opened the door and was faced with an appallingly untamed head of painfully gorgeous curly hair and that same god-awful pair of tan khaki pants.
Heya! I am currently in search of a mutual fanfiction beta-reader with the primary focus being the eradication of SPaG errors or typos in some of my works before theyâre posted to AO3, however I am definitely not averse to constructive criticism or general feedback.
Looking for fellow experienced writers, preferably with shared interests who are willing to frequently communicate and perhaps even collaborate on some works!
Fandoms I frequently write for* (not limited to):
⢠The Magnus Archives
⢠Frankenstein
⢠Good Omens
⢠Hannibal NBC
⢠Falsettos
*(for a comprehensive list of my fandoms check the pinned post on this blog)
Typically, I write in extracts of approximately 1,000 words that eventually amount to 3,000 - 5,000 word long chapters or one-shots. Whether you wish to beta in short freshly written extracts or in fully completed chapters is entirely up to you! Keep in mind that a good portion of my works tend to touch on mature themes and often contain smut, so please be comfortable with reading over such content.
I also have a pretty hefty backlog of original work that Iâd love to have beta-read eventually!
When it comes to mutual reading Iâm not particularly fussy, Iâd love to beta works of any length, genre or maturity. I am capable of doing simple grammar-focused reads as-well as feedback-focused responses.
If youâre interest, PM me here on Tumblr or leave your Discord in the comments of this post!
As I often am to catching up on show releases, having finally watched Queen Charlotte I can perhaps ease my dislike -ever so slightly- for the Bridgerton franchise because Brimsley & Reynolds have absolutely won over my heart.
What is a man to do but produce content for tragically minuscule fandoms? (ă_<ă)
In a long lost alternate universe- far, far awayâŚ
The Five Nights at Freddyâs film was produced by A24 in lieu of Blum House. Subsequently an entire generation of cinema goers, pardon my crude semantics, got their shit absolutely rocked.
Bringing you a rendered costume sketch for Dai Luâs Act 2 Cabaret NumberâŚ
Venetian Blind Man [Act 2: No 4]
⢠Venetian Blind Man is a cabaret-inspired number preformed by Dai Lu during Act 2, in succession of Front Street.
⢠She is drugged & abducted by The Barkeeper and intern forced to dance at an underground brothel that runs bellow the streets of Suburbia.
⢠The number serves as a subtle exposition device and alludes to the origin story of The Mayor before itâs full and final disclose during Lapceâs Angel, the unfolding of Act 3.
