i'm sorry if this has been asked before. when you draw, do you do rough sketches or go straight into line art? i find it difficult to draw without sketch before but i spend longer on sketching than lining, and it is exhausting?

i do a skeleton layer with the basic shapes / features that i want my drawing to have, yeah. mine always look like this because i draw it with a very thick, soft brush on a low opacity

then lining takes up more time because it’s when i fully flesh out the drawing. 

it can help to keep the ‘base’ sketch super simple for ease, but i realise that takes practice + familiarity with what you’re drawing. there’s absolutely nothing wrong with spending lots of time on the base sketch but, if it’s bothering you to spend more time on the drawing prep than the lining, you can always just clean up the sketch layer to use as lineart, too!

a group of kids playing frisbee when a nymph runs through their game and steals it, angry because they weren’t paying her the proper attention. They spend the next 45 minutes trying to get their frisbee back. They do not succeed. 

A kid takes a snack with them on a walk around camp when a gust of wind blows the wrapper out of their hand. They don’t feel like chasing it down so they leave it, which they deeply regret when a mob of nature spirits tracks them down at dinner and drags them in front of the whole camp for littering. 

all campers must take a comprehensive course on menstrual cycles “because if you’re going on a quest with someone who gets one, you should be fully aware of what their body is going through as they also try to not get killed by a monster.” 

water spirits getting mad after someone pees in the lake, so for weeks no one can ride in a canoe without it getting tipped over 

kids sneaking into the edge of the woods to make out and getting roasted by nature spirits 

satyrs acting like power high hall monitors  

Hecate kids figuring out cloaking spells so them and their friends can sneak out of their cabins at night for a bonfire without getting caught by the harpies 

Hephaestus kids spending their days hanging out with Peleus and designing fire resistant toys they use to play with him

I am consumed with the idea of a girl at Columbia who is like Annabeth’s #1 rival and she tries to make Annabeth jealous by hitting on Percy when they’re out at the same bars and parties and like Annabeth just laughs because 1) hubris- she knows damn well she’s hot shit and why would anyone let alone Percy ever look away, 2) they are so disgustingly secure in their relationship that all jealously is really surface shit like “no get away only I get to flirt with them like that” so really it’s envy not jealousy and 3) his loyalty to her is literally his fatal flaw like not even an atomic explosion would distract him from worshipping her so she’s like “you can try it girl, but you’re not gonna get very far” and basically it’s the fanfic version of He Loves You Not by Dream which is one of the greatest songs of all time and it’s very important to me this has been a psa

Imagine this girl flirting with Percy at a mixer for the architecture department. Like, has him pinned in the corner by the snack table, won’t let him leave, is determined to get him to look at her cleavage flirting with him and his eyes are just on his plate the whole time. Annabeth just lets the girl try, lets her make her moves and watches the girl giggle at nothing and brush a hand over Percy’s arm. So she finally decides to put Percy out of his misery and walks over to interrupt them and Percy beams like Annabeth is the sun and he’s been lost in the dark far too long. All Annabeth has to do is step close to him and his arm is around her, he’s facing her, and he’s already placed a kiss to her forehead. Annabeth gives the girl a look of try-all-you-want-but-you’ve-got-nothing

Imagine Percy and Annabeth walking back to her apartment after the mixer, hand in hand, while Percy declares the next time they are at the same party as that girl she is not aloud to leave him unsupervised. Annabeth can’t help but laugh and Percy gets wide eyed, “I’m serious, Annabeth!” She kisses him on the cheek, “I know you are honey” and she promises not to let him out of her sight next time.
