My mom told me I was going to turn into a “sexual deviant” when she caught me watching the most basic-ass vanilla straight porn. And she dragged me to my therapist “concerned” about my “unnatural urges” (apparently almost-16-year-old “ladies” never ever looked at porn unless there was something wrong with them).

I’ve had multiple people tell me that my bisexual will hurt me or my partners. I remember one particularly annoying person in college who told me that, because I’m bisexual, my partners could “never truly consent” to sex with me because my attraction to people of other genders meant I was somehow “lying” to them.

I’ve gotten an earful from a now-ex-friend about how, because my wife is trans, I can’t actually consent to sex with her because she’s “really a man” and that our relationship sent a “dangerous message”.

So forgive me, anti-kink crowd, if every time I see one of y’all saying that kink is “dangerous” because “you can’t really consent” or because “it’s just a cover for abuse” or because “kinky people are all predators”… I don’t have any time for that. I’ve spent my entire life being told that my baseline sexual desire is bad and wrong. And I’m over it.

I just need to add the fact that BDSM is in and of itself the most consistent positive sex I have ever seen. People think it's all dangerous violent play (which it can be if you want it to) but what they dont see is the build up to those acts. 2 people dont get together then 1 throws another on the bed and chokes them. No its way, way more then that. There a hundreds upon hundreds of conversations. There are list of what you will or wont try. Hell a lot of people have contracts which can be legally binding.

If you try to be something your not in that community your going to be outed and it's not pretty.

I personally find the community safer and more sex positive then any other vanilla sex group I've come across.
