ughh i have so many feelings about characters that are backed into a corner, snarling and bleeding and dying but instead of letting themselves die and fade into obscurity they get up and keep fighting. they donât just let themselves get swept into the wings of the heavensâinstead they grit their teeth and make their death mean something. if theyâre going down, if thereâs no other optionâtheir death is going to mean something. if theyâre dying, theyâll take another dozen, hundred, thousand of their enemies with them. even if itâs meaningless in the end, even if they wonât survive to see the happy ending the bloodshed won them. theyâd rather plunge a knife into their heart and make the world watch than pass away in a hospital bedside, theyâd rather bleed themselves dry out of spite to cover up the sight of their foes celebrating.
weird thought but all my favourite ships are the ones where theyâd be happy even if they did nothing but braid each otherâs hair for eternity. like the quote âin another life, i would have really like doing laundry and taxes with youâ or whatever it was, i just really like the idea of making the mundane special. like itâs not the candles or the lanterns or the roses that make them romantic, itâs the people sitting there with them. you could put them in a room with other people, playing all the right music and all the right pick up lines but they still couldnât care less. i mean they wonât even think about looking at other people kind of love, like they literally canât comprehend not loving them. i just think thats really beautiful. (this post is technically targeted to hualian from tgcf, but applies to other couples too)
I saw your Taylor Swift/Daisy Jones post and I've just gotta ask you: have you heard of Burn the House Down by Kenna Jenkins? It's a fictional biography/oral history ala Daisy Jones abt the 1st woman president and her secret sapphic relationship/bearded marriage with her mlm best friend and has massive Taylor Swift vibes (especially anti hero, last great American dynasty, gold rush, I Did Something Bad, and champagne problems) It also ft. An entirely queer main cast and really fleshed out characters!
ok so i didn't know how to access my inbox until today đ but that sounds rlly nice actually! i'll check it out soon <3
azulaâs character is just so fascinating to meâ her and katara are essentially two sides of the same coin. both of them are the younger prodigy sister, with two brothers that are considerably less prodigious. they have elements that directly oppose each other, especially since they both learned a dangerous subset of bending from a manipulative authority/familial figure in their life who wanted to benefit from it.
the differences between their characters (other than the obvious) are their upbringings and their personalities that were shaped from them. azula had a very very abusive and dangerous childhood, meaning mainly emotional and mental manipulation (and depending on how u view it, physical too).
she grew up being âperfectâ, to the point where she would have rather stabbed someone than be seen as weak to her father. this, and how other people reacted to this (her father encouraged it and her mother was scared of it) shaped her character into the blade it was in the show. her father encouraging her cruelty, the one type of kindness she recieved was definitely not helped when her mother called her a âmonsterâ and chose zuko over her everytime. (seriously, while i understand that she saw ozai in her, she really didnât have to make it that obvious that she was scared/hated her. itâs not her fault that azula didnât wake up in the night and thought that her mother only visited zuko before leaving though, thatâs just the miscommunication trope) we see her have a mental breakdown, seeing her mother in the mirror when there was no one, sending away loyal staff after being so paranoid it hurt her. ultimately, this leads to her downfall, where she meets her counterpart and her brother.
on the other hand, katara was raised as an equal to sokka, knowing that she was special but never better she didnât suppress her powers or boast about them, but just saw them as a part of herself and not a weapon. her waterbending at the very start was introduced by sokka saying âweird water stuffâ or something similar, and her arguing that it was âwaterbendingâ, something that she was proud of as a part of her culture.
her tribe appreciates her, sheâs needed a lot in ways that azula wasnât. she acts as a mother to a lot of people, and is essentially the âlast hopeâ for the water tribe where azula is the ânew hopeâ for the fire nationâs expansionist beliefs. they both represented completely different things to their people, and this is especially evident in their parents
ozai and ursa either praise or scorn azula for being cruel, liking either her or zuko more, which made azula choose a side early on, whereas hakoda and kya seemed to have loved both sokka and katara equally.
katara grows at such a rate that she rivals the avatarâshe beats a master with barely any training, she manages to win against soldiers with far more experience on their belt. this level of growth isnât just because she was gifted or had a motivation to learn, it was also because she was pushed to be aangâs waterbending master. (pirate scroll episode especially showed her desperation to be better than aang, to not be outstripped by her own student)
even though she was talented and very motivated to win against the fire nation, she shouldnât have won against a girl who was trained from birth to be the best of the best, a ruthless weapon who took down a city by herself. so basically, the question of the day is why did katara win?
one, her friends. this isnât to say some friendship is magic bs, because she had friends who taught her. she had an open mind and learned from different cultures, she wasnât rigid and didnât stick to just one nationâs discipline. without any formal training other than those weeks with pakku, she had to adapt and make her own style, which allowed for more fast thinking and adaptability.
two, she had a reason to win. while you can certainly argue that azula had a reason to win too, meaning becoming fire lord, azula also thought that her father would definitely win, meaning that it wouldnât have technically been the end of the world for her to fight against two people that she thought she could win against. (this is kinda handwavey, since azula wasnât really in her right mind to think that up but humor me) either way, katara had a LOT on her plate that day. her job was to get azula to give zuko the throne, or else the invasion would fail. and when zuko went down? well, any illusion that azula didnât want to kill her own brother went up in a poof. she basically thought: hmm, well, zukoâs my friend, and azula just nearly killed him. so no holding back or honor agni kai things THAT I SAID NO TO IN THE FIRST PLACE, i need to get back and heal him, so i need to get azula down fast. and she did, whereas azula didnât have as much of the drive that katara had that day.
three, katara had a stable emotional base. her friends didnât abandon her or anything, she had a loving family (albeit with an absent dad and dead mom) and while she was under constant stress from the war, she still had friends and people she could talk to. her qi wasnât as unstable as azulaâs, who was basically having a qi deviation (probably didnât help that ty lee blocked them too) her clear mind helped her think of a way to subdue her, but azula didnât really think at all. i think honestly azulaâs schizophrenia was either realllyyy prominent in the last agni kai, or she had a deviation in her energy (if those exist in the show).
basically, katara is a nicer azula who didnât grow up traumatised asf and thatâs very interesting to me :)
AU where Damian shows up two years after Bruce got back from the time stream and is half convinced Tim isn't real because there's no way a person can be THIS perfect.
The other Batkids play hot potato with him on weekends because Dick loves the kid but he WILL lose his mind if Damianâs in his apartment for more than one weekend a month. He doesn't have the codependency due to the time they were Batman and Robin and more father and son than brothers canon him has with Damian, so he's much more an older brother than anything parental.
Tim's AWARE of Damian, got a phone call to ask whether the kid could wear his old colors (Robin) and said yes, but he was barely listening & is based in another city and has been too busy to come for weekends home. He had no proper idea until two months later when he broke into Dick's apartment for a favor and he wasn't there and he finally decides to visit the Manor.
"What the fuck why's there a mini-Bruce here."
Damian squints at him.
"Are you Timothy?"
"Why do you know my NAME-"
Damian knew OF Tim, but was half convinced he was a myth because he'd never met him and Tim seems to have fought everyone and their international organization.
A sigh. "If Tim were here, he'd be able to to get us out of this. He's working on dismantling this trafficking ring."
"Grayson. We are in BOLIVIA."
Another sigh. "Yeah."
Even after he met Tim, he's still half convinced he's an urban legend. Tim has the respect of RA'S and LADY SHIVA and is smarter than Batman yet still burnt his hand trying to make toast.
Tim's vaguely amused by Damian despite the murder attemptsâit helps that he doesn't live in the Manor and is nineteen now, with a good support systemâand accepts his weekends at the Tower or with YJ with grace.
Damian still snipes at him but Tim doesn't take much to heart. He's still irritated and snaps back sometimes, but it's definitely milder because "little brother or not, I refuse to have beef with a ten year old."
"I am not a child."
"Oh yeah, I see the Talia in you."
Kon's sort of concerned, but hey his little brother is indestructible and doesn't have that many friends, Damian could do with the socialization and Kon could do with some more time with Tim, so...
Weekly playdates.
Tim drops by the Manor more and Bruce is glad, though he's too emotionally constipated to directly say so.
Tim knows though.
Bruce, happy to have his second-youngest (third youngest now??) at home more: You're. Back.
Tim, fluent in Bruceâ˘ď¸: Yeah I'll stay the weekend
Tim runs WE and Damian believes it's his birthright.
Damian also happens to be the only one that actually HELPS with WE, and at twelve ends up being better than their other siblings or even BRUCE at it, so Tim fully plans to hand it over to Damian as a twenty-first birthday present because it's not like the kid has friends or hopes and dreams or anything.
Tim actually has fought everyone and their mother btw. He got AROUND during his Robin and early Red Robin days, and still busts international smuggling rings for his own amusement. Sometimes he lets Damian help him when he's been nicer than usual
does anyone know where the post/fic of an au of the events of red robin happening earlier in canon, and damian actually looks up to tim? iâve been trying to look for ages istg

Nothing is as funny to me as seeing new users go "How do I get famous on this platform" only to be met with a bunch of people sitting on a metaphorical wasteland of different flavours of trash made out of content that's been circulating here since 2007 while adding some new and fresh things on top of it, eating something that vaguely resembles food and staring at them blankly.
And it always makes me imagine the actual conversation go like this if it was in a story or comic:
N: How do I become famous on tumblr?
O: Why would you want to become famous anywhere? Its exhausting.
N: So I'll be popular and people will want to befriend me
O: Honey... What you want isn't fame or popularity, what you want are loyal friends who understand and listen to you. And for that you'll need to step out of your own head and talk to people. Or alternatively you can attempt to create a connection via reblogging something from someone else and gushing on that thread, that sometimes does the thing.
N: But that's so much work!
O: Making and maintaining friendships is a full time job.
N: But I want a lot of people as my friends and I want them now! I want to be famous and cool! I want everyone to love me!
O:
O: Cult. You're thinking about a cult. And those are not good, they radicalise too easily, they go south even faster, not worth it.
N: What? No? I want to be popular and famous!
O: What for? What benefits would fame give you? Nothing. You'd have no space to move nor breathe in, all the eyes would be always on you, you'd be unable to act like you normally do, there would be no moment of rest for you, you'd have to be perfect, become the golden standard, and stay perfect forever. There would be no room for error of any kind no matter how minor, the second you slip it's all over and you'll be left in the dust as humans would find someone else to worship and idolise until that person, too, breaks.
N:
O: By the way you don't get famous on tumblr from anything. Everyone here just goes on with their lives, talks about things they like, dislike, shows, things that happened, funny things, sad things, art, music, videos, memes, writings, if something blows up, it's never the thing the person wanted to blow up. Like something they wrote while high that they'd rather forget having ever happened. Because people find these things to be funny or relatable. You gain nothing from trying to act opposed to who you are and you gain even less from attempting to fish attention in hopes of it boosting your ego and giving you some perks. Because this is the website where people come to get away from the rest of the social media.
Then again... What does it really even mean when people become famous on tumblr? What do these people mean when they say that they wish to become tumblr famous, really?
Do they mean that they want people to talk about them on tumblr? In that case, they should become a content creator that makes something that people enjoy, use interesting concepts in their works, be passionate about the said work, post it on webtoon or YouTube or some other media where it can be found. But then again, the people will then talk about your work and not you necessarily, which can be a good thing. If they want to specifically be talked about... Well... I am afraid that you'll either have to become an actor, a politician or a living example of how to not be like.
Do they mean it as... Having all of their posts blow up..? If so then... Honey... Darling... Sweetheart... You won't really get famous from that either and you will never get the posts you want to blow up to do that. If you are part of a dedicated fandom, sure, your posts will gather up notes, but that is only as long as they are related to the fandom. If not... Then you'll just need to make sure that you're consistent with your posts I guess.
Look, I flee at the first notion of a post getting traction because I get anxious if there's too many notifications, and especially if it ends up derailing one of my blogs from their main reason for existing (I've had two of my study blogs get taken over by two different fandoms, first one because people thought that I was role-playing as a character because I used a childhood nickname as URL without knowing that the character's name in English was exactly that, second because I analysed outfits in a series to find the approximate time it took place in while also dropping info on when stuff like pocket watches and cameras were first created and popular. It was a nightmare. Truly).
By the way you won't learn any rhyme or reason for why and how certain blogs here get a huge following. Some provide information about stuff like animals (especially the less conventional ones), some are just shitposts and memes (then again people do like to laugh), others are literally related to helpful stuff like art/study/life tips (that actually are helpful), few are educational on some level while using certain media as a way to help explain things like languages (think of it as Game Theory but as a blog), couple are literally just sharing weird/funny/cute/confusing/food/animal/building/fashion/art images without any caption safe for the source.
That's literally it.
You can't become an influencer on this website because people here just... Want to have a good time, relax and soak in their respective ponds made out of niche content and vibes. And more over you cannot become an influencer on this site deliberately. You can't plan it. Also using thousand very specific tags won't help you, maybe 4-5 first ones are the thing that helps the system to archive it but that's it.
We have some actual celebrities and influencers here, like Neil Gaiman, Markiplier, Thomas Sanders, etc but they aren't here to get any fame or anything, they're just vibing, taking part in the fandom experience (or in Mr Gaiman's case, answering sometimes questions in rather delightful way and learning how to meme).
So relax kid. Relax and stop chasing for popularity for a bit, you'll just stretch yourself thin and forget how to enjoy yourself and things you like if you keep running in that wheel endlessly. It's okay to not be well known blogger/content creator/influencer on every site you stumble upon.
Sometimes, you just need your own little corner and piles of things that you enjoy, take a deep breath, and concentrate on those for a while. To rest, take it easy.
My thing with the whole Rhys did what he had to to survive under the mountain thing is that he didnât actually have to do anything as bad as he did and Crown of Midnight proves it. Celaena was at the mercy of a much more powerful and cruel ruler but she still managed to falsify all the tasks he set her without her magic and got away with it when she was 18 years old. In contrast Rhys is 500+ and the most powerful high lord ever supposedly and sure he would not have been able to fake everything obviously Amarantha was always gonna abuse him and force him to torment people in front of her but those winter children should not have been killed.
Heâs daemati and as far as we know Amarantha wasnât. He couldâve just as easily gave all the kids some cuts to spill a little blood then either hid them in Velaris or the Spring Court and given Amarantha a fake memory where he got âtoo excitedâ and now thereâs nothing left of the kids with the spilled blood there for the Attor to verify and then returned the kids after the mountain. He didnât need to SA or drug Feyre, he didnât even need to twist her broken arm because she was so desperate she wouldâve agreed anyway and I doubt Amarantha actually wanted to be reminded of her existence outside of the tasks. He couldâve just as easily left her alone or again used his daemati abilities to make one of the other sympathetic high lords, say Tarquin or Helion, help her.
Iâm not saying he couldâve come out of the mountain with his hands clean and trauma free, Iâm just saying he couldâve easily mitigated some of the worse orders out of Amaranthaâs sight but he chose not to. And if he was worried about Velaris then heâs said that Mor will inherit the power probably and that sheâs super powerful with âtruthâ or whatever. Mor shouldâve been able to protect Velaris- so long as she maintained the wards Amarantha would never have found the city.
I like to image that they run into Alfred and Barbara while also on the island and at first they were all relaxed and âwow youâre here too? Nice.â
Then they all suddenly sit up and point at each other and are like âwait, if youâre here, then whoâs making sure the kids arenât unleashing chaos in Gotham?â
Bruce, forcefully calming himself: Itâll be fine. Kate is still there. The kids wonât do anything too outrageous with her still in town.
Kate, walking up behind them with a smoothie: Whoâs not doing anything outrageous?
Bruce, shooting to his feet: Whenâs the next ferry off this island.
Dick: Not for another 7 hours so you might as well sit down and get some vitamin D. This is probably the first time youâve seen the sun in a while.
Alfred would try to swim back home if he knew the kids were alone in his kitchen, so now Dick, Kate and Bruce have to do anything and everything in their power to keep him from knowing all three of them are there.
They are doing pottery. They were initially making those beaded bracelets and necklaces but Jason put a stop to that after Steph started pelting Tim with beads (âWhat if that had hit his eye?!â âIf it did it wouldnât have been an accidentâ) and Damian had put ninja stars in the necklace he was making and was swinging it around like a lasso.
Jason also placed a bag of those foam building blocks for toddlers in clear warning of the next activity they will be participating in if these unsafe shenanigans continue.
I love this fic and want to propose the next in this series where Bruce, Kate, Dick, Alfred, Jim Gordon and Barbara are stuck on an island on an enforced tropical vacation. Thereâs a whole round of âwait but I thought you were with the kids!â and then there is a slow, slow realization (the camera zooms up to them as their hearts collectively sink) and they realize JASON IS IN CHARGE.
cue all of them trying to get off the island. Except. EXCEPT. All of them are competent adults (tm) and theyâre both really mad at each other for leaving the house unattended and also simultaneously want to prove that theyâre the most competent adult to ever adult which leads to a balls to walls pissing contest which fucks everything up. Cue a series of crazy misadventures with increasing amounts of international incidents, tangling with assassins, alfredâs reunion with the russian spy who was the talia to his bruce, Jim having to jump out of a plane with no safety equipment, Barbara running over a witch disguised as a cockroach with her wheelchair and getting cursed and Kate and Bruce locked in a fierce argument about some stupid incident from their childhood that no one even remembers the WHOLE 36 HOURS.
so they get home. Their clothes are singed. Bruce is reasonably sure heâs lost a testicle along the way. They donât care. The kids need them!!!! What shenanigans have the children gotten up to while they were gone!!!! They run home, up the driveway and burst in!!! Only to see⌠foam blocks?
âyou guys hungry? I made some lasagnaâ Jason asks sweetly from his armchair. on the ground are all the kids, having genuine fun with foam blocks.
Tbh I love the fact that Cass should be the responsible Adult⢠since she's older than Jason but she decided it would be funnier to let him roam wild instead of being the responsible one (which is so valid of her really).
1) I think the problem is that Cass doesn't actually know what Being A Responsible Adult entails. She would try, but she would do it somehow SO COMPLETELY MISS THE TARGET. And Bruce knows this. So does Jason.
But you know what Bruce also knows? He knows Jason.
So I choose to believe that once it's clear everyone is there which leaves Jason essentially the only potential Responsible Adult? He relaxes. Because he knows that when it actually matters, Jason will be responsible both out of a feeling of obligation and out of a desire to frustrate his younger siblings for fun.
So everyone else is panicking (except Alfred, who doesn't do anything so gauche as panic, and Kate who is just like "not my circus not my monkeys") and Bruce is tanning and drinking a daquiri and having a Really Good Day.
I love this. Plus, it's so true. Jason can be responsible if a situation or role calls for it. And honestly age really doesn't account for who will be responsible because sometimes you end up with odd situations where the most mature of a bunch might be the youngest... it really just depends. But yeah I wouldn't put Cass in control as the responsible adult because that is not her role... it's not her circus not her monkeys and I think she might enjoy the chaos the others would cause a lot. Jason though would be responsible and would keep the others in line. Though to see the adults panicking and their vacation turning into a misadventure of chaos would be amazing and probably accurate since the kids had to get their chaotic tendencies from somewhere.
Jason gets his siblings under control partially to spite Bruce.
Bruce canât get his kids under control, but Jason can, and does it out of spite. When the family sends him to the tropical island, he enjoys himself because heâs able to have fun. Unlike someone he knows.

A little context for those who donât know: recently a woman was arrested by the Iranian morality police (who enforce mandatory headscarves and other theocratic policies) and died in custody. This has sparked massive protests across Iran.
THIS. For the love of every thing that is good, if you considered yourself a feminist or a progressive of any sort, support Iranian women. Itâs not complicated what is happening. Whatâs wrong with you people.

I have never wanted to badly to be able to drawâŚAll of the Dicks in a brown paper bag. Maybe a Batblob toting them along in a beach bag?? Oh, the possibilities!
Why does no one in Justice League ever wanna watch movies with Batblob? Â Because he always has Spoliers!
Yes, I am still avoiding reality, yes I am still spending simultaneous too much yet not enough time on these, and yes I know they are not all spoilers but come on man! The joke was RIGHT there!
Have you ever seen pictures of baby bats wrapped up? Â Itâs adorable. Â Anyway, hereâs Batblob and his pup!
I contemplated adding more Damians but then I saw a picture of a baby bat and got inspired lol.  And no, I didnât mean to make it look all âMadonna and Child-esqueâ it was completely unintentional and I only realized it after I added the lighter parts.  By then I was in too deepâŚ
