@nearducks
he was definitely not old enough to buy alcohol here either
AU where Jason decides to embrace being an Al Ghul after coming out the pit and rather than going back to Gotham, he just establishes the Red Hood as an Outlaw and LOA worker and moves on from his life as a bat. his life only crosses over with the Waynes again about a year or so after Damian’s settled into the manor, when the family are interrupted one evening by a masked teenager banging on the door, pushing his way inside when Dick opens it, and hurriedly telling Damian, “I need an alibi so mom doesn’t kill me. When she calls, you and Bruce need to tell her i’ve been visiting you in Gotham all weekend.”
baffled, everybody else watches as Damian looks up from his book in a bewildered fashion, gradually turns from confused to sceptical, and asks, “…Why, what’d you do?”
“I may have accidentally blown up another helicopter.”
Damian takes this in calmly. “Twenty dollars.” He demands. The masked teenager squints.
“Five.”
“Twenty.”
“Ten.”
“Twenty.”
“Eleven.”
“Nineteen.”
“Fifteen.”
“Seventeen.”
“Done.”
Damian takes the money from the older boy and then causally turns to Bruce before telling him, “Father, this is my eighteen year old half-brother, Hood. he struggles with paranoia and is slightly mentally unstable from being submerged in the lazarus pit while young, which is why he keeps his name and face confidential from everybody other than our immediate family on our mother’s side. if Mother calls, please tell her Hood has been staying with us for the weekend.”
the rest of the bats are completely indignant, but Hood just considers Damian’s words for a few seconds and then resigns himself to, “Yeah, guess that’s fair.” and doesn’t deny anything, baffling them even more.
and that’s how the Waynes become acquainted with Hood, the probable-pyromaniac-definite-bad-influence older brother that, as it becomes increasingly clear the more he comes around, Damian adores with his whole heart. it’s also how it becomes a semi-regular occurrence that Damian’s older brother runs to the manor to demand refuge and plausible deniability from whatever bullshit he’s done at the league that Ra’s 100% knows he did but can’t fucking prove, at which point Hood will just hide with the Waynes for a few days, masked up 24/7, running around with Damian and causing chaos, confusing the fuck out of everybody because this is the first time they’ve ever been able to see Damian indulge in a genuine childhood sibling-dynamic and it knocks the bats off their feet Every Fucking Time. the only time that boy ever acts like a child is when Hood comes to visit and it both infuriates Dick and Tim, fills them with jealousy, and makes them oddly relieved to know that underneath that weird victorian-boy shell, there’s an actual modern-day child somewhere in there.
also, Hood can be really fucking fun. and he and Dick get along like they’ve known each other for years, so it sometimes just feels like Hood’s a normal part of their family!
Superboy prime: Bernard dowd? I loved you in Robin
editors note: Bernard first appears in Robin 1993 issue 121
Bernard: thanks I loved being in Robin too

This is why we can never let local news die. Commitment to the bit as an art form must survive
Tim: I know you feed on emotions.
Danny: I beg your pardon?
Tim: I know you feed on emotions. You're an ecto-being, known as Phantom, and you're hiding in Gotham from the government. Your real name is Daniel Fenton.
Danny defeated: Who are you working for? How did they find me?
Tim: Don't worry about that. I'm the only one who knows. Listen, I need your emotional eating abilities. Robin died a few weeks ago, and Batman is losing it. Could you eat his sorrow? Help cut through his fog of grief?
Danny: I- ugh I never tried that?
Tim: Well, now is a good chance to try. Pack your bags, you're moving into Drake Manor as my uncle, and we're going to save Batman.
Danny: Okay?
Tim: You seemed confused. Do I need to explain the plan again?
Danny: I'm not confused. I didn't expect this when I opened the door to a seven-year-old.
Tim: I'm thirteen.
Danny: I'm so sorry. Are you not being feed?
Tim: Everyone blooms at their own time!
Danny: Sure, buddy.
Tim: You-! You will actually do really well at posing as an annoying uncle. You're on thin ice, though. So watch it.
Danny: I'll take that threat more seriously when you can reach my chin.
Tim: How dare you.
Yes! Let's get an adult to be the one helping Bruce!!! It is needed!
DcxDp Convoluted Crack Prompt/Idea
At 19, Danny is an intern at the Watchtower. Hes no longer a hero himself, but helping the Watchtower helps him fulfill two aspects of himself; being a protector spirit, and his space obsession. Danny is the least nervous about interacting with the Justice League, so Danny is usually tasked with interacting with them if its needed, and has unintentionally wormed his way into a "little brother" role without realizing.
Okay, so technically there is one member of the Justice League he is nervous about interacting with; Martian Manhunter. To Danny, Martian Manhunter "smelled" like space, so he would light up and his core would sing whenever they talked. The same thing happened when Danny rarely interacted with Starfire, and- well almost any alien. The reason he didn't react to any of the supers that way was because they "smelled" more like Eather, enough so that Danny's core didn't registered them.
Unknowingly, though, from an outside point of veiw, it looked like Danny had a crush on the Martian. His face would flush pink, and he'd listen to everything J'onn would say with his full attention, while tripping over himself to do anything J'onn asked of him. To the rest of the Justice League, it would almost be cute- if the age difference wasn't so big, J'onn wasn't one of Danny's bosses, and if they didn't see Danny as their little brother. So now the Justice League is trying to think of how to go about talking Danny down from his crush, and about power imbalances without crossing any line, since, yaknow, they're also his bosses.
J'onn, meanwhile, thinks this whole thing is hilarious. He tries not to read his friends and coworkers minds, really, but when they go pale every time Danny approaches him, he needed to know why. While J'onn doesn't fully know what Danny is, or what a 'core' or 'obsession' was, he did know Danny was harmless. He also knew Danny had absolutely no interest in him like that, thankfully, Danny was just 'fed' by J'onn interacting with him, and he was happy to help since it was harmless. He would, however, watch his colleagues overthink and scramble for solutions that weren't needed. He wouldn't change how he interacted with Danny, he didn't want anyone thinking he was actually 'reciprocating Danny's crush' or something, but he would listen to them freak out. As a treat.
that late 90s-early 2000s trend of loosely adapting literary classics into teen romcoms was the BACKBONE of our culture and society and we need to make it a thing again
When you have nothing better to do on a space ship than listen to some gossip.
The book explains how Rocky easily learns English, so I kinda like the idea that he could potentially understand some animals, like whales.

Sam and Daniel: judging you since 1997
I like that Daniel, Jack, and Teal'c all have some devastating backstory that led them to join sg-1. Jack was suicidal after his son died, and this is really the only thing that gives his life meaning, Daniel is looking for Sha're, Teal'c wants to free his people... But Sam? She's doing this for the love of the game. She lost her mom at an early age, and struggles at times to connect with people, but overall the reason she joined sg-1 was to do cool crap and learn.

Thinking back to the first story I ever started writing down (I was 7 or 8) about a group of stray cats who, every full moon, took the form of human kids. They actually were human kids, who had been killed (all at different times/by different people). Their bodies were each dumped by the side of the road where a cat had been hit by a car previously, and their souls landed in the cats' bodies. Eventually they all found each other and decided that every full moon, when they shifted, they'd try to solve each other's murders one by one. It was going to be a series, with each book focusing on a different kid's murder mystery. I told my mom about it once, briefly, and she said "Those cat books (warrior cats) are making you creepy."
Just finished writing this manuscript, the first story I ever started. 23 years in the making. Never give up, even if your mom calls you creepy 🖤
