Okay so I did some digging about dybbuks and deals that a person has made with a dybbuk.

First in foremost Dybbuks are not recognized by the catholic church or christanty in general (which im assuming monty is catholic) they instead stem from Judiasim folklore. In Judiasim, Dybbuks are sepreate from demons. They are seen as "a person has died but is not yet ready to cross over as they have sinned without performing teshuvah [repentance] ."

Dybbuks also "fear the judgment that comes after death" therefore clinging to their victiums seeking a host. Something that monty is technically doing since we see Bee and Wills POV of hearing or seeing Monty as well as seeing his spectre leaving his body when Eula consumes it

Although there are some differences there are a lot of comparisons with the Dybbuks in Jewish folklore and Monty spectre, and we know that the reason why he is seen as the 'devil/demon'; due to how others viewed him when he was growing up.

what about the deal what are some of the comparsion to the folklore and the Nevermore webcomic? We see he has the powers of possesion, entering peoples mind, and fire/brimstone. We also see that his deal causes people to change their sense of self, whether its Will staying by Monty's side even though he does think about leaving. As well as Bee who distance herself from Lenore and her the team. Something that does get brought up when showing signs that a person has been possessed by a dybbuk in Jewish folklore. --Such as showing distress, Both the dybbuk and the victim remain conscious and co-exist in the same body, and the Dybbuks making them do things (saying slurs, committing sin, etc etc,.) they don't normally do.

Okay so -how does a person break a deal or get rid of a dybbuk? we know that Bee and Will might either need to complete the deal or end their lives to no longer do the deal -- and aint no way they are both willing to do that or how to even complete the deal (mostly talking abouy Will here) So what the best solution? The short answer is an exorcism. oh yeah his worst fears are coming true. But wait its not what you think, remember when I said Christanty does not regonized Dybbuks? That because in Catholicizim they cast out the evil, while in Juaduism does not exactly do that. "Lurianic Kabbalah believes that the exorcism of a dybbuk must include the tikkun, or repair, of their soul. Lurianic methodology requires communication directly with the dybbuk and negotiations regarding their soul. The "good" parts of the soul of the dybbuk are separated from the "bad" parts of the soul and returned to the Treasury of Souls. Once the "bad" no longer has a place to thrive, it will shrivel and die, leaving this world "--but how does this connect with spectres in nevermore' you may ask and to that I say remember in ep 3 when Miss Poppet told annabel that she can't fix her all the loneliness she feels "not right now" implying that she can change (or develop) her spectre through her journey whether its how she sees herslef or how much she is willing to change. Montresor is no different he'll have to confess his secrets, his mistakes, and his regrets. ( It'll also push his path more into his redemption arc too.)

who can do an excrosim? Who knows enough about spirits and ghost?

Eula. I mean Morella can help since she's a nun but mostly Eula. Girl knows a lot of things about ghost since she wanted to be a paranormal detective. Plus Bee is her bff so whether Bee likes it or not she has to fess up on why she's acting so weird with the gang.

If this is somehow not possible maybe because monty does not want to confess or something somethin happens. Bee or Will do have an option to kill Monty --which will be very difficult for Will since the deal might be his friendship/relationship with Monty. But not for Bee, although I don't know if they'll have to kill him in his spectre form causing him to wither completely end his spirit and ending the deal that is link to his spirit and Bee and Will's spirit.

Anyway thats all I have for know might do a little anaysis on Will's spectre and some theories on what his potentials and limitations.

Thinking about Berenice and Will and the deal and how their stories allegorically challenge the idea of the “perfect victim”

[ramble/analysis below the cut, not particularly polished so my mind is subject to change]

Both of them took the deal they “brought it on themselves”. Shouldn’t they have known better than to make a deal with the devil? But what other choice was there?

Was Will just going to walk away from what may be his only chance at escape? Will who was all alone in the dark for who knows how long?

Was Bee just going to sit there, and not even try to protect Eulalie and Lenore? Was she going to give up her one shot at protecting herself?

Perhaps both of them should have known better but how could they? They did not know the extent of what they were getting into, they couldn’t have known. To Will Montresor was nothing but an abrasive but ultimately kind stranger, and to Berenice this deal was nothing more than a ploy—somewhat of a joke it seemed based on Montresor’s reactions.

And neither of them, Berenice or William, are perfect people. They can be selfish, cowardly, and even cruel. They will go along with things to protect themselves, and they sometimes make bad decisions (ie not telling people what’s going on). But ultimately that doesn’t matter. It does not subtract from the horror of their situation. They did not deserve it—but do they know that?

I could be off but I feel that both Berenice and Will are carrying a lot of shame or guilt, perhaps even blaming themselves for things that happened to them, or things they failed to prevent happening to others. I feel that that’s part of the symbolism of chains, both in Monty’s spectre and in relation to The Deal (though this may be a bit of a stretch. Part of me feels that part of the reason neither has seemingly reached out about what they’re going through is they may either feel they deserve it, or no one would listen/stick by them. And perhaps another part of it is denial. Denial that it’s happening, or fear that it isn’t—that it’s all in their head.

And that’s part of what I feel is so insidious about the deal as a curse/force. It does not outright force people to do things outright by taking control of their bodies it seems. Rather it, as Poppet said of the Dybbuk spectre, “get[s] into peoples’ heads”. It is a coercive force that pushes and breaks down the afflicted individual until they have no choice but to say “yes”. Nobody else can see or hear it—it is an isolating experience. It pushes them to do what it wants regardless of if they want to do it, regardless of their refusal, but it does so in a way that makes it feel as if it is their fault.

Because they agreed, right? At the very least they didn’t say no. They were the ones who took his hand—they agreed to this.

And in that state how can you trust your mind? How can you trust your body? How can you trust the people around you? It is a violation of the self, of the mind. And it causes both of them to lash out/push others away (ie Will pushing away Eulalie in 116, and Bee seemingly distancing herself from the Misfits/Lenore after the stag attack). The type of thing they’re going through is different than the abuse other members of the cast went through, in that there is a perceived level of agency, or more accurately of fault, in their behavior that victims of, in this instance, child abuse don’t have. Because they were children, they had absolutely no agency in who their parents were.

I don’t really like how Annabel and Lenore keep discussing the same thing over and over again in the flashbacks and their whole chemistry feels like Lenore says something teasing and Annabel blushes — but to be honest the first flashback in the season looked like that too.

Annabel does the same thing in the first season. Lenore asks serious questions, gets indignant and bewildered, while Annabel bats her eyelashes and flirts. Shit, sometimes she just ignores the question and changes the subject!

And this is it, this is the mirroring of their behavior that we’ve been talking about all along!! They switch places; they copy each other’s attitude. Annabel being a coquette? She picked it up from Leo. She remembers her woman like that.

Thats where things become, how shall I put this? somewhat one‑sided.

In the first season whenever Annabel did something unacceptable the narrative actively showed she was in the wrong. Lenore blames her, Lenore is angry with her; Lenore has an internal monologue in which she disagrees with Annabel and suffers because of her actions. And since Lenore is the main character from whose perspective the story is told we empathize with her, we share her feelings. When she feels betrayed by Annabel, we also feel betrayed.

Lifetime events should invert their dynamic showing Lenore was also in the wrong once and Annabel had the right to be angry with her. Kinda. The thing is that the flashbacks are also presented from Lenore’s perspective. The focus is on her feelings and actions; its implied she is seeing these memories while in a coma. Therefore Annabel doesn’t have an internal monologue where she would question fake engagement plan. Lenore is still at the center of the attention and when she is careless about Annabel’s feelings, it seems as if the story itself doesn’t take Annabel seriously either.

Lenore’s behavior makes sense. She spent three years rotting alive in the attic and it doesn’t bother her at all that she risks ending up in prison or an institution. She also believes that Annabel’s worry about such things is just whims and worldly concerns. But those are not! Annabel’s questions make sense as well; she has reason to be worried about this plan. Because there is no plan! There’s just an idea! Lenore always has ideas and no plans. That’s her thing.

In Nevermore, Lenore is trying to have it both ways, wanting to save both her friends and her beloved. In life it’s the same with Annabel — of course she longs for freedom but she also longs for safety and confidence in the future. In both cases each of them can offer the other only one thing. And yet the story seems unbalanced as it doesn’t pay enough attention to Annabel’s perspective.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was no blackmail or trick and Annabel gave in and called the cops to the wedding simply because she was tired of the uncertainty and decided it wasn’t worth it. This could well be seen as the consequences of Lenore’s mistakes, the absence of which we are complaining about. I still don’t understand why she waited until the last moment though. Yet even the wedding flashbacks look as if Annabel had done something inexplicably terrible although in that case it’s just a result of Lenore not giving her what she asked for — a guarantee.

no lie, I straight up thought that she will be a pretty damsel in distress who cries beautifully while lana del ray plays in the background---when she was introduced in like the frist ep( which was why i kinda wasnt into nevermore until prospero fears and Ada specture got me hooked) And then the whole mystery mastermind came and I was like " oh maybe it'll be different" but oh boy that got old... and then just then when I thought she'd get SOME character development BOOM the thing I feared the most came and she became nothing but a damsel in distress who sheds diamond tears of mourn and yearning.

WHY is this annoying?

Because in this moment, Lenore is choosing to believe and validate WESLEY's skewered and entitled and arrogant view of events rather than Annabel's.

The previous chapter we literally had a moment where we were laughing over a dude because he was raging that he lost to the point of calling it a farce

but now we're just...agreeing??? with him??

Lenore started off good by rightfully doubting Wesley but then rather than keeping the pressure and CHALLENGING his assertion, she just...accepts the bs spilling out of his mouth despite the fact he literally confirms that the chess ISN'T A FARCE and he's just overconfident in his position!

And mind you I hate the fact Annabel is glancing away during this moment because this action REEKS of guilt.

Guilt...for what? Nothing Wesley has said in this moment changes anything that Annabel told Lenore at the cottage. Yes, she promised to marry whoever beat her at chess. Yes, she has been promised to Wesley by the end if no one beats her. No, Wesley yapping about their previous engagement, that has been null and void for years, like an obsessive little freak does not invalidate any of that??
