Landing on his feet, he moved back and waited for Reve to fall as well. “Quaint on the outside, sure. But this is probably one of the most elaborate set ups in all of LA.”

“You got me zere. It reminds me of ze place I have back at ‘ome. Great minds zink alike, no?” Reve landed safely, then brushed himself off. “Although a bigger entrance would be nice.”

Mark paid for the drinks, and headed out with Reve. A few minutes of walking and they reached their destination. He lead Reve through what seemed to be the small one floor house of an elderly woman. Mark tapped something out, and a small wooden panel opened up. “This is one of many entrances, the way down is gonna be a little cramped, sorry ‘bout that. Close the door on your way down.” He instructed, before falling into the little hole.

“Aha, what a quaint little place. Secret entrance? ‘ow clever!” This was fun, following Mann around, good thing Reve didn’t have anything else to do tonight. He jumps into the entrance making sure to close the opening, erasing any traces of them being there.

“I’ve met my fair share of ‘good’ people, to me at least, and I’ll say I had my doubts but you’re one of ‘em.” Alright, Mr. Frenchman wasn’t so bad. He admitted to it. “My ‘secret base’ is close by, why don’t we relocate there.”

“Now zat sounds like a good time. Lead ze way, Detective.” Who knew that Reve would run into a character such as Mann, all he asked for was a drink. What else would this country hand on a silver platter? He was eager to see what was in store.

“Well what can I say? It’s the most fun I’ve had in a while.” Something told Mark that this guy wasn’t going to go around blabbing about him. It seemed like shady people seemed to find each other.

Reve chuckles in response. “You amuse me Detective. I’m glad I’ve found at least one person with good taste in zis country.”

“Nothing special, I guess. Just some more mafia activity than usual. Real rough gang by the sound of it too.” Nothing made Mark prouder than his own crew. They started so small but they were gaining their footing. “I’ve been tackling most of their cases, but they keep on slipping through my fingers those bastards.” He laughed, just a little bit.

“Oh, you seemed quite amused by the fact you ‘aven’t caught zem yet. ‘aving a too much fun are we, Detective? I know all too well ‘ow it feels to be engrossed in your own work.” Reve is starting to have a liking for this man. Maybe they weren’t so different after all.

“Yea…sure. ‘Freedom’.” Without a doubt there was something way off about this guy. Research? What kinda research, that was waaay too broad a term.

“Wiz all this ‘Freedom’ talk, I’m not surprised zere are many zings to keep you busy. What has ‘appened recently zat I should ‘stay on my toes’ for, Detective Mann? I’d love to ‘ear more about your work.” This guy isn’t going to get anything out of Reve unless he gets some info first.

Event: Magic Switch Up!! 8/2 - 8/8

Okay!! We’re a tiny group but this hopefully goes smoothly! 

This first even is going to run a week and what’s happening is all magic users are going to lose all their magic power! No more magic for a week!

In contrast, all non magic users suddenly gain magic!! So if you wanna draw your character in some SWEET fantasy get up go for it!!

The event starts tomorrow, so from 12 am on wards magic powers are flipped!

That most definitely took too long for him to make up. “Reve Eerie. Okay.” Who was he to really care though. “So what brought you to this hell hole of a city?”

“I’m a researcher, zere were some opportunities here in America so I took zem. Zis country is known for it’s freedom, no?” Freedom to do whatever he wanted that is. No limits, no boundaries. Either that or America just wasn’t smart enough to stop him.

Man this guy really just pissed him off. He couldn’t have known, could he? No that was impossible. “Right…right…” Mark looked down at his drink. “You said you’re name was Reve. What, no last name?”

“Last name?” This never really occurred to Reve. His full name was Reverie so he didn’t really have much to say. He didn’t have a last name that he knew of, anyway. Eh, just roll with it.

He takes a sip of his drink.

“Reve....Eerie.  Yeah. Zat’s it.” Guess that’ll be his name in America. Nice save Reve.

“It’s definitely busy alright.” Partially because of himself. But shhh, that’s not the point here. “Gotta stay on my toes and all that. I gotta ask, why would a guy like you move here if it ain’t the ‘nicest neighborhood to play in’?”

“I’m not exactly ze ‘nicest guy’ either, so I say zis place suits me fine.” Reve raises an eyebrow and looks at Mann knowingly. “I could say ze same for you per’aps,” He laughs.

Mark really wanted to punch the smirk off this guy’s face but he knew he couldn’t. And that sucked. “Yea, real rude. I’m Detective Mark Mann.”

“Oh a Detective~ ‘ow charming.” This was getting interesting, Reve probably shouldn’t be talking to a law enforcer such as Mann, but he doesn’t really care. “I’m Reve. I ‘ad just moved ‘ere recently from France, as you can probably tell.” 

“So Detective, is work around ‘ere busy? I ‘eard this isn’t ze nicest neighborhood to play in.”

Mark had been at the bar for maybe no more than 15 minutes and already, already someone thought they had the right to talk to him. And by the sound of this guys voice, he was probably French. He just sat down and started talking to him.

“Straight to the point guy, what do you want?”

“Just a casual conversation to pass ze time, no need to get ‘ostile.” Ah yes, he really loved this country. “I suppose it was rude of me to ask wizout introducing myself.”

“Oh wonderful. Don’t forget to wash your ‘ands once you’ve finished. Au revoir.” Reve hung up the phone. Oh how he loved ruining lives, coming to this country made it even easier to manipulate people. I love America~ He thought to himself as he opened the door to the bar.

“One of your finest Chardonnays,” he said to the bartender as soon as he found himself a seat. He needed to reward himself for being so damn clever. Sitting down, Reve noticed a man, mid-30s he presumed.

“Come ‘ere often?”

Fine. Whatever happened to Lucy before, I don’t know. But when you showed up in that murder case 4 years ago that’s what I wanted to know. So I’ve been digging into your past since then. I’ll find out myself.

[turns toward the door]

[Waits until she closes the door.]

If you have an ounce of care for Lucy you could at least worry a little for her well being! I know she’s been to visit you and she’s up to something, it would be nice to at least tell me something that happened.

Kufufufu....surely you 'aven't met me before, Mademoiselle de Way, I am anything but nice. Unfortunately, I 'ave no sympathy to share with you or ma petite fille, the both of you need to figure it out for yourselves.

I’m not here for your money and I’m not here to try and tell you things you already know. I’m here because I care about Lucy and I need you to tell me about her past, everything before she was placed in that orphanage.

Just because in a different timeline she could have not met me doesn’t mean that she would have been unhappy. Just because sometimes things turned out okay does not justify your actions. Whether or not you claimed to have talked to her recently, your actions still affected her even today and you obviously did something to hurt her in the past.

Fine sue me, zat is what all lawyers do right? She should be perfectly 'appy with you around, now zat I'm in jail and all.

So I don't see what the problem is, did you just come 'ere to nag me for somezing I already knew about, Mom?
