As a butch I engage with and read a lot about trans people to understand my own gender expression better and until today I didn't understand why I feel more comradery with trans man than trans women. I was watch a video by a trans man in which he briefly mentioned how both butch and trans men experience go hand in hand because their discrimination is based on the fact they are fucking up womanhood and that shit resonated so hard with me.

As some who read a lot of trans/feminist discourse all I see it boils down to is a fear of masculinity as if it makes you a savage animal, it's why trans women are looked down upon as savage perverts who are trying to get infiltrate pure and innocent femininity by pretending to be a women and on the flip side trans men are helpless women whose divine femininity is being corrupted as they pretend to be a man.

I myself experience it every time my mother says my shoulders are too big, that I sit like a man, that I shouldn't cut my hair short, that the hair on my face looks too manly and I should get them removed the way all my masculine elements are demonized as the ugliest parts of me when the prettiest I have ever felt was when I got a compression top and wore it with my oversized graphic tee with my hair tied short. I fantasize about how much prettier I would look with developed muscles and short hair.

I genuinely hate anyone whether cis or trans who thinks masculinity is inherently dangerous or toxic or ugly may you experience the same as what put out in this world.

the problem with the idea that we can bully cis men out of toxic masculinity is that toxic masculinity is fundamentally about bullying people seen as men into "proper" behavior. the patriarchy is absolutely in love with casual cruelty and shame as a way of modifying behavior. and whenever i see people trying to use toxic masculinity tactics but for feminist aims it makes me want to bite the walls. oh wow you are telling depressed boys that if they feel bad about themselves its all their fault for being a whiny bitch? are you also selling a $200 get rich quick scheme and sawdust supplements by any chance

You know what, I’m not done! I think that the whole concept that kind characters are uninteresting and vanilla is such a broad generalization and takes kindness to mean lawful or goody-two-shoes, when there are so many ways for someone to a character to be kind.

Kindness does not require passivity or social grace. Kind characters can stick to their guns and stand up for what they believe in. They can yell and scream and curse. Kind characters can be angry and disappointed when others do not show them the same compassion they show others. Kind characters can be tactless, oblivious. They may be rough around the edges (but have a heart of gold).

Kind characters often value justice and strive to stay connected to their humanity, even when the things they must do threaten to strip it away from them. Kind characters sometimes have to make difficult choices. Sometimes, kind characters even behave in a way that is unkind.

Kindness is complex, and it’s only a single solitairy characteristic that contributes to a character’s personality. While it can absolutely present as soft-spoken, honest, and open-hearted (my personal FAVE), it certainly doesn’t have to be.

On October 7, the Supreme Court heard about Chiles v. Salazar. Chiles v. Salazar is an important court case. It is about Colorado's law on conversion programs. Colorado has a good law that protects young people from conversion programs.

The law means that means Colorado therapists aren't allowed to promise trans people they can be cis if they 'try hard enough.' It also means Colorado therapists aren't allowed to promise gay people they can be straight if they 'try hard enough.'

Every big medical group says conversion programs hurt LGBTQIA+ kids and their families. The Supreme Court listened to arguments about if Colorado's law should keep being a law.
