Spooky season watch list 🎃👻🍂🧛🏻‍♂️

Since September is coming up next week, here is a list from your fav certified spooky movie professional (me) to give you guys some great entertainment over the next few months 🧡🖤

•Halloween (1978): classic Jamie Lee Curtis scream queen movie, the ultimate Halloween movie, Michael Myers is creepy af, Jamie’s screams are unmatched

•Hocus Pocus (1993): the Sanderson Sisters are iconic, I put a spell on you, surprisingly dark, lots of fun moments, set in Salem, automatically puts you in the Halloween spirit

•Halloweentown 1 & Halloweentown II (1998 & 2001): super cute and fun, the other ones are trash but these 2 slap, Debbie Reynolds as the witch queen, will make you want to visit Halloweentown someday

•Scream (1996): the most iconic horror opening of all time, a twist ending that will change your life, a badass final girl in Sydney Prescott, a hilarious and extremely well-made satire on the horror genre

•AHS Murder House (2011): all the fall vibes, a great Halloween episode, Jessica Lange and Connie Britton are queens, really fucking scary at some points

•Coraline (2009): dark af, Dakota Fanning in an Oscar-winning performance, still gives me nightmares, the Other Mother is gonna get you so watch out

•The Witches of Eastwick (1987): the best female cast, witches fucking with everyone, fun and funny, don’t cross them, if you love witches you really have to check this out

•The Lost Boys (1987): the vampires are so attractive, not a Halloween movie but still dark and spooky, a little cheesy but it’s so fun

•Rosemary’s Baby (1968): trippy as hell, if they ask just give them the fucking baby, if you haven’t seen it it’s a fall MUST, one of the craziest movies I’ve ever seen

•Goosebumps The Haunted Mask (1995): one of my absolute favorites, Carly Beth slays and we all know it, that mask used to haunt me every day, one of the most iconic horror tales of our generation

•Scream Queens season 1 (2015): Ryan Murphy’s best work, so so so funny and perfect for Halloween, outstanding performances from the cast, a great mystery that keeps you guessing, an amazing Halloween episode

Be on the lookout for part 2 in the near future (!but get through all of these first) hehehehe

Vintage Halloween Masks in Pastel-o-Vision & Pastel Jack-O-Lanterns

The first design is my entry for Spoonflower’s Pastel Halloween challenge, aka THE BEST CHALLENGE. I had so much fun drawing this on stream (even when I spilled tea and killed my tablet, ahahahaha), and I’m excited that I can finally share the final product!

Needless to say, this was a JOY to draw. I haven’t flexed my monster-drawing skills in quite a while, so I was relieved to see I hadn’t lost my touch. Plus, researching the masks was quite fun! You can view the design here, and vote in the contest here. Thank you!

The second design was my back-up entry, in case I decided the masks weren’t it. While I ultimately went with the masks, I do love the jack-o-lanterns. I always have loved drawing them- goodness knows anyone who’s followed me for a while will remember my multiple iterations of The Halloween Tree. Something about jack-o-lanterns makes them a joy to draw…

Also, people on my stream pointed out the mouth on the tall, skinny teal pumpkin in the upper right looks like the Batman logo. I can’t unsee it, but I’m fine with that because I love it.

Freeform released the schedule for 31 Nights of Halloween and I am LIVING!!!! Halloween is in the air y’all 🎃🍂🧡 and I’m so excited! and Texas has all of a sudden has been raining every day and cooled down so we’re really getting that autumnal atmosphere. Happy September 2nd everyone!!!

Spooky Season Watch List 🎃🔮🕷👻

Your fav certified soooky movie professional is BACK baby! September is only 2 days away (!!!) and I’m here with a great list of my Halloween favs to provide y’all with some entertainment over the next few months! I made a list last year as well, so I’ll link that at the bottom if you need more recommendations to get you through Quarantine Halloween 🧡🖤

•Beetlejuice (1988): peak Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin is kinda hot which is wild, extremely stylized with Halloween colors, Beetlejuice is lowkey horrifying af, makes me feel super nostalgic for September

•Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019): vvvvv underrated, serves us 1960s small town Halloween vibes (LOVE), terrifying monsters from my childhood straight out of the books, I stan Sarah Bellows til the day I die, really takes you to a super spooky different time and place for a few hours

•Courage the Cowardly Dog (1996): still gives me nightmares, will take you back to your greatest childhood horror dreams, I have no CLUE how this was a kids show

•Practical Magic (1998): Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as witch queens, an autumn romcom which we love, lots of oranges, browns and reds in the aesthetic, dead trees and leaves, super fun and powerful Halloween movie about powerful women!

•The VVitch(2015): highkey a horrific film that no one seems to talk about, a slow burn that really has you fucked up by the end, 1600s puritanical Massachusetts ft evil demons is a wild concept, something that will leave you thinking long after you finish it

•Scream 4 (2011): the best horror sequel of all time, an amazing twist ending that takes the movie from an 8 to a 10, the entire third act is so well-acted and well-written that it will truly blow you away, Emma Roberts in a role that sky-rocketed her career into an iconic scream queen, surprise Sydney

•Halloween (2018): gory as hell, an incredible continuation of the story that started 40 years prior, Jamie Lee back screaming her ass off (and we’re all living for it), legitimately scary, features a group of strong women fighting a sadistic murderer, the ultimate Halloween franchise update, ready for the sequels

•The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993): Jack Skellington is iconic af, a claymation Tim Burton movie (what else could you want), a musical that has some absolute BOPS, starts to get you hype for Christmas as well, not Halloween without it

•Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018): the best take on Sabrina we’ve ever seen, features witches, warlocks, pagans, cannibalism, sex, mythical creatures and trans representation, easy to binge over a weekend and will really get you in the dark Halloween mood headspace

• Psycho (1960): Alfred Hitchcock’s best film, that iconic shower scene that shook the world, one of the most famous twists ever in a movie, black and white to add to the creepiness, has a captivating story and great performances, will change your perspective on horror if you’ve never seen it!

•Doctor Sleep (2019): an underrated modern classic, takes everything you love about the Shining and expands on it, Ewan McGregor in a great performance, Rose the Hat and Snakebite Andy are wild as hell, lots of dark scenes that will stick with you afterwards, a creative addition to the original Stephen King story we all know and love, come play with us Danny (again)

•Boy Meets World: The Witches on Pennbrook—season 5 episode 5 (1998): one of the best Boy Meets World episodes, features Candace Cameron Bure as a witch, lots of funny one-liners and overall just a really fun episode of the show, really makes me feel in the Halloween spirit
