happy pride month

I will die on the hill that Tenshinhan should have been the MVP of hunting Dr. Gero. He should have been the one to get jumped by Gero, and he should have been the one to find Gero's lab. This should have been his moment.
Scenario: Dr. Gero, an android with no detectable ki signature, is hiding somewhere in this wasteland. He's lying in ambush and/or trying to return to his lab without being cornered by Vegeta or Piccolo, our two strongest guys.
We have to try and hunt Dr. Gero with our eyes, but if he gets the drop on us, he can drain our ki and power himself up.
Solution: The Shishin no Ken/Multiform technique splits the user into multiple bodies for enhanced visual perception, at the cost of cutting the user's ki by the number of copies he makes.
Instead of Tenshinhan scouring the wasteland looking for Gero, what if he could be four separate Tens all scouring the waste looking for Gero?
Can he make more copies? Instead of four sets of three eyes searching the wasteland, what about sixteen sets? How about 64 Tenshinhans, each with 1/64 of Ten's ki?
What's the worst that could happen? Gero suddenly grabs one of the Tens and gets a tiny fraction of his ki in exchange for revealing his position to Piccolo and Vegeta? Seems like a checkmate proposition to me. Try me, bruh.
Not despite but rather because of its flaws, Shishin no Ken/Multiform is a technique that's uniquely suited for this one specific moment in history, and would have been a great opportunity to give Ten a W.
This happened at Trader Joes.
A very basic graph for different ways that thought balloons, captions, flash balloons, and floating text work in comics
Made this in preparation for my Akane-banashi stream tonight! What's great about teaching is in prepping one lesson, I made two other discoveries! Hopefully you can join us in 30 minutes or catch the vod!
I'm demystifying the flash balloon, and look into how Akane-banashi handles thoughts, voices overs, and narration! Ways to support me: Ko-Fi
Akira Kurosawaās SEVEN SAMURAI opened in Japan today in 1954. A masterpiece. #OnThisDay
It's about time we talk about one of comics mediums greatest strengths: Manipulation of time! Ways to support me: Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/b
I need to be better about posting these here! I'll be livestreaming at 7pm tonight (4/28) with a lecture on how the Akane-banashi manga and anime use their mediums tools to control time! I hope you can join live or catch the vod!
Hey did you know I have a comics lecture series I'm starting on YouTube? I'm using the new anime Akane-banashi to talk about comics craft, adaptation, and storytelling.
This first video I talk about graphic depictions of sound and speech. Please check it out ā¤ļø

I want to pet you like an animal...
@march-of-the-moths
I always bristle a little at parody lyrics that drop syllables so I'd like to offer:
I want to pet your little animal
For lines one and three.
Fuck Around and Find Out
We have regular doors on either side of revolving doors because 492 people died at the Cocoanut Grove in 1942. We have radar for air traffic control and the Federal Aviation Administration because two planes collided over the Grand Canyon in 1956. Natural gas smells like that because it didnāt before it blew up the New London school in 1937 and killed around 300 people. We have a LOT of fire safety rules because of the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire. We have stronger cockpit doors because of 9/11 and stronger security for employees because of Pacific Southwest Flight 1771 and lighted aisles on planes because of Air Canada Flight 797.
I mean, thatās just off the top of my head after getting home from working twelve hours overnight. Two hundred and twelve episodes of @disasterarea-podcast, and nearly all of them involved the disaster in question spawning new regulations or rules to prevent the same thing from happening again.
actually iād like to point out: we have safety regulations because people PROTESTED AND FOUGHT AND STRUCK AND DEMONSTRATED AND RAISED HELL. it took the bereaved families of those who died in the triangle shirtwaist factory years of campaigning for the government to pass regulations about fire and door locks. it took open warfare--the government was sending in troops, dropping bombs-- for miners in appalachia to get basic safety regulations. it takes parent groups and boycots and unions fighting cops in the street. it takes marches on washington. it takes a lot of journalism.
the government does nothing for the silent dead, the humble dead, the polite dead. a dead body is shoveled into the ground and forgotten by the next business quarter.
safety regulations are not written in the blood of silent, disposable victims. theyāre written in the blood of those who split their knuckles and screamed their throats raw for a better world.
donāt ever underestimate the value of protest.

Comics Class is in Session!
I have a new YouTube channel launching with a series of livestreamed lectures about the new anime Akane-banashi and the manga it is based on!
I love this series so much that I've previously taught lectures about the manga in undergrad and graduate classes, now that the new anime is out, I want to use it as a lens to talk about the original series.
And if you live in the America's you're in luck because the anime is streaming for free on YouTube here: Akane-banashi Global - YouTube
New episodes of the Anime release on Saturdays, and I'll be hosting weekly craft livestreams the following Tuesday at 7:00 PM!
It would mean a lot to me if you would mark to be notified for the livestream.
dc fandom has been redeemed by 99% of the fandom siding with riddler over joker
to be fair its kinda like being asked to choose between a delicious slice of cake and a kick in the crotch with ice skates
I bet even Batman likes Riddler. He gets the call that Riddlerās broken out of Arkham and is terrorizing the city, and heās likeĀ āOh, good. I get to give my mind a workout and keep Eddie from doing anything too stupid. Iāll bring the kids. They could use some critical thinking training.ā
Ahh, the riddler. Just remember, in the Arkham games, heās just āhey batman, I hid question marks. Can you find them?ā And then just wandered off. No murder no mayhem. Just puzzles.
Joker: āhahhahhhehehehhhhhrhrghhghh Iām gonna do murder and make people die Iām a clown and I made Harley Quinnās life hell hhehhhgheghegghghhhhā
The riddler: āhey Batman they just let me out on good behavior and Iāve been bored as all hell so come solve my riddles I got some spicy new ones I think youāll likeā
I mean.
He did kidnap and torment several cops in Arkham City. The Riddler absolutely did do that.
So thatās another point in his favor!
So we're all gonna let the new Harry Potter show die on the vine, right? No hatewatching. No thinkpieces. No videos about how bad it is. Deprive it of oxygen and let it wither away unremarked-upon and unprofitable; make HBO lose their entire investment and prove to the corporate entertainment sphere that the entire IP is poison. And spend that time doing something that brings you joy instead.
