Robyn's Nameday!
Robyn's (and my) nameday is coming up on July 11th, and so it is my turn to request some creativity from all you amazing people!
tell me, what would Robyn see through the echo if she looked at your oc? show me a memory, give me a small tidbit of lore.
it can be a favorite location or a special relationship. a battle fought or a meal shared. a life saved, a life lost, or a friend made. character defining or completely mundane, it just should be something worth remembering.
please tag me! and use #robyn's echo visions
and thank you all for making our little corner of the internet such a special place!
they should invent a way to live my own life without the anger & despair that lingers
Yearning is such a sweet name for something that makes me feel like an addict who can't get a fix
its like strippers and the economy to me

don't go where i can't follow
I just also wanna say that this is such an unkind thing to say to someone in your audience when you're constantly BEGGING for more eyes on your work.

Fordola! I love her so much!
And so they came, at a friend's behest. To Ishgard, shining city on the mount, overlooking the dominion of Coerthas... A land that after a thousand years of war had forgotten what it meant to be at peace.

The Hyur migrated to the Black Shroud early in the Sixth Astral Era. While Hyur have always been known for their adaptability, for reasons unknown, they proved adamant in their unwillingness to succumb to the indigenous Elezen's language

Okay, you know, re-reading the Haurchefaunt story "Thoughts Unspoken" just drives home how wildly different Haurchefaunt's view of his family was from Artoirel's. Because when Artoirel apologizes to WoL after their mission in Falcon's Nest, he says that their father "has never been able to say no to my dear half-brother." But Haurchefaunt in his letter suggests he barely ever spoke to his father, and certainly not to ask him for things--this request to take in the Scions was a struggle for him. From Francel's story "Vows Unbroken," Haurchefaunt ran off and avoided being at the manor as much as possible to get away from the Countess.
I... wonder if Artoirel was just continually told that Haurchefaunt was their father's favorite by his mother. Rather than actually seeing any evidence for it himself.
Look, there's something profoundly wrong and not okay with the all 3 of the Fortemps brothers, but especially Artoirel and Emmanellain and it is easy to see their Father's part in it (the neglect of who they are as people, the way he never sees them or what they contribute, the sideways comparisons to Aymeric and finding them wanting, the idealization of the knighthood and freedom that Haurchefant represents for him against their duties as heirs of House Fortemps, the fact that they mostly seem to exist to fill a part of his duty he'd rather forget he's trapped in), but their mother must have contributed too.
And how could she not, married to a man who had an affair, who openly acknowledged the bastard child who resulted, who constantly overlooked the children (heirs) she gave him. There's no mention of her by Edmont, she might as well never have existed for all he speaks of her. And you can feel her resentment of that fact and how she passed it on to especially Artoirel in early Heavenswards so very clearly. Emmanalein is the useless one, the one who doesn't fit, but Artoirel is his mother's son, he's the one who mentions her, who feels the emotion of what her place in the family was. And Artoirel's growth is subtle and background, but his acceptance of his father's shortcomings and disregard for him and decisions to do his duty anyway, to not resent Aymeric for being his father's new favorite the way he resented Haurchefant, to stand beside him and fight for a new Ishgard, is such a good arc in that light. He won't be consumed by the resentment that is fair at all the things his father is and isn't, he's going to do what is right and care anyway, he's going to be secure in his own worth rather than lash out anymore.
