There were three simple rules you had to follow as the new professor of Social Studies & Ethics at Hogwarts:
Rule #1: there was no magic allowed within the new Muggle Studies Wing.
Rule #2: ignore the portraits giving unsolicited teaching advice.
Rule #3: do not let the hot astronomy professor distract you from teaching.
But, turns out even as a professor, you weren't the best in following rules. Especially rule 3 was too easy to break.

“Now,” Jake said, walking between the rows of desks, parchment roll in hand, “you’ll find that the alignment of Jupiter and Mars this month offers valuable insight into projected magical energy. Could one of you explain to me and Professor Y/L/N why that is the case?”
A few boys sitting in the back snickered. One voice muttered just loud enough to be heard, “Maybe it projects enough magical energy for Professor Sim and Professor L/N to end up together before Christmas break. I want my five sickels."
"Told ya, they still need time. You shouldn't have bet that much," another voice whispered back.
"The way they are literally drooling over each other sometimes really doesn't make it seem that way, tho?"
A chorus of muffled laughter followed, and you froze mid-sentence, your quill hovering above the paper.
Jake didn’t even pause in his pacing. He stopped just behind the group, lifted the rolled parchment, and gave the back of the boy’s head a light tap.
“Mr. Takayama,” Jake said pleasantly, though his tone carried the unmistakable edge of amusement, “if you’re so interested in predicting the future, I recommend transferring to Divination. This,” he tapped the parchment against the desk once more, “is Astronomy. We calculate possibilities, and do not imagine things based on hypothesises.”
The boy’s ears turned crimson as the rest of the class snickered harder.
“And for the record, boys” Jake added, straightening up, “speculating about your professors should be done either privately or silently. Preferably both.”
A few students laughed outright at that, quickly stifling it when Jake gave them that deceptively patient smile of his.
You finally looked up then, a smile tugging at the corner of your mouth. The students were still giggling quietly, and Jake, completely unbothered, turned his attention back to the front.
When his gaze caught yours, the faintest spark of amusement lit in his eyes. He winked.
You rolled your eyes, exaggeratedly, because you knew he’d see it, and bent back over your notes as if deeply invested in your handwriting.
The class eventually settled again, quills scratching and telescopes clicking faintly as they refocused on the sky. Jake’s voice filled the tower once more, smooth and patient. “Now, as I was saying, before we wandered off into speculative fiction, the energy patterns you’ll chart tonight should be compared to your previous calculations. Accuracy will earn you House points in this class, romantic creativity, unfortunately, does not.”
The students laughed again, and you shook your head, hiding your grin behind a stack of notes. If they only knew what has happened these last three months just under their curious noses.
