Gotta love that exploded view of the iPhone.
Yes. And also true, what they are sayinâ.
Paper Pop-Up Books
A confession: I've always had a thing for pop-up books, every time I see one I've simply got to check it out. This is the amazing work of Johann Volkmer who creates paper pop-up books, one of the purest forms of creativity dating back hundreds of years. If you'd like to see the making of click here. Adobe CS5: New Content Aware Fill Tool
For all Photoshop lovers- some new goodness on the way in the upcoming release of CS5. Itâs called the âContent Aware Fillâ tool and is about 1000x smarter than your spot healing brush. It can now calculate a much more realistic visual of what is behind any object, so removing just about anything is now just a click away. Amazing!
HTML 5: Harmony Drawing Tool
Been hearing all the HTML 5 hype, but you're wondering what exactly can HTML 5 do? This video is a pretty good example of the power that HTML 5 will bring to us, with the new standards aim to reduce the requirement for 3rd party plugins like flash, silverlight and Java. Harmony Drawing is a simple HTML 5 example that allows you to create art in HTML! Try it out here.
Heads up to Tim our Lead Developer for showing me this!
Star Wars of Recycling
An interesting TV spot that takes a fresh approach to explain the importance of the all to often boring subject of recycling. Sadly not sure on the proposition of the end frame as the TVC is all the way from Switzerland.
Age Distribution On Social Networks
This super nerdy graph is based on US Google ad planner data and showcases an interesting perspective on age demographics among the major social networks. Showing some of the major players like Facebook and Twitter appealing to a much older audience.
Previously considered platforms for the youngâ more and more statistics are showing otherwise. This is fantastic news for alot of marketers.
Of note, Facebookâs audience has 61% of users over 35, while twitter is similar with 64% of users over 35. While Bebo & Myspace are very attractive for kids under 17, with 37% â 44% of their users in that demographic. So as you can roughly see from the chart, the 35-44 bracket is a clear percentage winner topping 11 of the 19 social networks.
Would be interesting to see how the stats compare within the Australian market.
Worlds Biggest Signpost by Nokia
A cool interactive installation from Nokia. People on the street send text messages directly to the live sign with their favorite places to visit, and the arrow moves to point to that location, and also provide the distance.
The installation was streamed live to Nokia.com, where all the locations were synced with Nokias good things map.
The State of The Internet
Anyone for some mind-blowing stats?
Forget dull powerpoint, it's even harder not to love a bunch of stats when they're delivered in slick motion graphics and future pop instrumental music. The State of The Internet, by Jesse Thomas. Perfect for any non believer of the power of the internetâ enjoy!
New Balance: 365 Project
New Balance has launched a campaign called: âNew Balance 365âł. The campaign idea is based on a collection of 365 cool short films that engages consumers by asking them to âExplore Balanceâ.
The campaign was created by Mother New York in collaboration with Swedish film director Jesper Koothoofd. It has a campaign website, plus an iphone application where the users can get their daily dose of videos via mobile.
So what do YOU do?
I always wondered what the best answer was. Now it's official they all lead to the same path. Via Monster Munch.

James Bond-esque Video for Ben Harper
James Frost has created this cool video for new track "Lay There and Hate Me" by Ben Harper and Relentless 7. Inspired by Robert Brownjohn's work, using strong saturated colours and projection techniques of the late 60s early 70s.
Check out the iconic, original 1964 James Bond Goldfinger title sequence.
Microsoft: Augmented-Reality Maps
Blaise Aguera y Arcas from Microsoft Live Labs has an impressive talk about their new technology: Augmented-Reality Maps. This technology creates some kind of 3D space instead of static images and users have a chance to connect a live video stream of any specific location.
Its just a demo but really exciting about the live connection aspect because these kind of technologies create new spaces for new ideas. 4G Network mind you, we're still dreaming of a good 3G Network in the wild west of Australia.
Always worthwhile checking out the inspirational ideas over at TED.
Volkswagen GTI iPhone App Success Story
Back in October 2009 Volkswagenâs made the brave move to launch an iPhone only campaign to promote their new GTI. No banner ads, no print media and no TVC's you get the idea. Seems the risky move has paid off, with over 4 million downloads of the app, and an 80% increase in leads, test drives and quote requests.
Its great to see a digital campaign like this succeed beyond most people expectations. Hopefully weâll be seeing a lot more of this in the future. Historically ad agencies would spend the majority of media on TV, with more and more compelling success stories out thereâ hopefully we will see a shift in mindset (and budget) to the online and mobile space.
Great work by AKQA.
Lace Up Save Lives
In support of Nike and (RED)â˘âs partnership they launched a new campaign called: âLace Up Save Livesâ approach to fight HIV/ AIDS in Africa. Crossing the boundary between the different sports, a more representative group of world class athletes teamed up to raise awareness on the AIDS.
The campaign also has several social networks like Facebook and Twitter, and a widget for use on websites and blogs. You can check out the website here.
