Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery dir. Rian Johnson
bless you, father
when Jud said "God didn't hide me or fix me, He loves me when I'm guilty, and that's what I should be doing for these people, not this whodunnit game!" and "we are here to serve the world! Not beat it! That is what Christ did" and "by using me in your game, you're setting me against my real and only purpose in life, which is not to fight the wicked and bring them to justice, but to serve them and bring them to Christ. Otherwise I'm just as bad as Wicks, making it about me and not Jesus" and "this church is not medieval, we're in New York... it's Neo-Gothic 19th century... and the rites and rituals and costumes, all of it. It's storytelling... the question is, do these stories convince us of a lie, or do they resonate with something deep inside us that's profoundly true?"
Seeing how positive the reaction to Father Jud in Wake Up Dead Man has been confirms my belief that most people—even dyed in the wool atheists—desperately, desperately want Christians to live up to the ideals they profess.
That’s why I don’t take it personally or get offended when a person rails against Christianity. Their anger often comes from a place of profound, justified disappointment. And if a person can be disappointed, they’re still looking for good in this world. And if they’re looking for good, we’re looking for the same thing.
“I remember” is more romantic than “I love you”
Starting off strong
Brennan's gonna put as many birds in the episode as he can

any time an announcer says if [athlete] medals it’ll be the first medal for [country] I immediately lose all sense of patriotism and become an [athlete] stan
grabs your hand. you've had enough plot and exposition and character development lately im taking you to the beach episode
saw an opinion i disagreed with and didn’t say anything about it. +350XP
genuinely one of the worst things that’s happened to television in the last few years (exacerbated by streaming services) is death of Filler. going from 20 episodes to 8 because “we didn’t really need that episode where the main characters went to the beach right? it had no long lasting effect” but we DID!!! we needed to see how they act without the Big Bad Plot and to establish the dynamics between the characters and lay in the sun (do they forget sunscreen? how do they react to a thieving seagull? do they get buried in the sand or do they do the burying?). the plot isn’t everything. the action doesn’t hit as hard without the quiet moments. give us character development and our little scenes back
eric figuring out ariel’s name in the movie had to be the cutest thing i’ve watched in a while
