how the fuck do you know you're falling in love ?? I'm panicking over there
It's ✨magical✨
Do you know that feeling, when you desperately try to impress your date by showing off your "skills", but instead end up tripping over your own feet, because you're too excited and giddy from the confidence boost your date gave you earlier? Yeah...
this week in the good omens corner of tumblr: uhhhh. fashion?
fashion!
fan artists have found a new go-to outfit for crowley and we are all very, very happy with this development (and so is aziraphale)
don't make me buy more clothes for my cosplay please, already have all that I need for my Crowley (or so I thought...)
You know it absolutely doesn't help that for some reason I have a thing for attractive noses (my friends have been making fun of me for that for Years) and then here's this TV show that stars bloody michael sheen and david tennant aka THE people who have THE ABSOLUTE NOSES and you expected me to be normal about it????
I want kisses

Hello, Mr Gaiman!
There's been a lot of backlash against the art-generating AI recently, and while on some level I understand the reasons (the corporations train the AI using other people's art for free without permission, then charge money for using the AI), it just seems more about the AI existence in general than about evil corporations (and they are evil, don't get me wrong). I don't know, whenever I see another 'haha, here's a way to cheat AI and make the quality of its product worse' post on my dash, it just sounds like a luddite argument.
What's your point of view on the recent development of AI? I swear I'm asking in good faith, perhaps I just fail to understand the issue because I'm not aware of some underlying problems or arguments.
I guess the point is that the AI art isn't generated by magic from a vacuum. It starts by taking actual art that actual humans made, and then, without their permission or payment of any kind, plagiarising it.
So from my point of view, if you make art and you want the machines that are plagiarising your art without permission or payment to be harmed and made less reliable when they come and steal your work, all power to you.
For context, the team that developed the anti-AI project Glaze has just announced a new tool: Nightshade.
To my understanding, whereas Glaze added an overlay of noise to make your image hard for an AI to read, Nightshade aims to actively poison the dataset by adding in a different image to confuse the model—for example, an image of a fish might receive a bread overlay, so the AI now thinks that when someone types in a fish prompt it should produce something that looks (to us) like bread. The overlay is barely visible to a human but really messes with how AI is able to analyze an image.
And it requires very few images to poison a search result—like 50 in a database of millions.
This is the equivalent of putting a mind blowingly hot pepper in your work lunch because it keeps getting stolen daily. If the thief didn’t want a mouthful of fire then they shouldn’t eat food that wasn’t offered to them. Get permission or get wrecked.
You can read an article on Nightshade and see its effects here.

Michael Sheen crying is really devastating.
I hope Aziraphale won't cry like I just saw him cry, or I'll be really, I don't even have a word
how to keep following people when a major social platform implodes
(...and you don't want to join 20 new websites)
First, get an RSS reader*:
Desktop: Feedbro (browser extension), QuiteRSS, Raven Reader
Android: Feeder
iOS/Mac: NetNewsWire
You'll be able to make a custom feed to follow blogs, webcomics, social media feeds, podcasts, news, and other stuff on the web all in one place. To follow something, find its "feed URL"-- often marked by an icon that looks like this ↓-- and paste it into your reader of choice as a new feed.
Some feed URLs for social media:
Twitter: Feedbro can use Twitter profile URLs as feed URLs. Otherwise, use nitter.net/username/rss (or other Nitter instance) (You can get a CSV file of all the accounts you follow using "Download a user's friends list" on Tweetbeaver)
Tumblr: Use username.tumblr.com/rss or username.tumblr.com/tagged/my%20art/rss to follow a blog's "my art" tag (as an example)
Cohost: Use username.cohost.org/rss/public (WIP feature)
Mastodon: Use instance.url/@username.rss
Deviantart: Info here
Spacehey: Info here
Youtube: Go to a channel in a web browser, view page source, and use Ctrl-F/Command-F to find a link that starts with "https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id="
Instagram: Feedbro can use Instagram profile and hashtag URLs as feed URLs. Otherwise, Instagram doesn't have RSS feeds, and due to aggressive rate limiting on their part, it's not so simple to generate a feed URL.
Facebook: Feedbro can use public Facebook group/page URLs as feed URLs.
(If you know an artist who exclusively posts to Instagram, you may want to gently suggest that they crosspost elsewhere...)
Also see how to find the RSS feed URL for almost any site. Try using public RSS-Bridge instances or Happyou Final Scraper to generate feeds for sites that don't have them (Pillowfort, Patreon, etc).
*You can set up your subscriptions in one reader and import them into another by exporting an OPML file.
This!
RSS feeds were a great way to keep track of things before the rise of the platforms, and (if we’re smart) they’ll be great again.
omg I will have access to Michael twitter ??
