"i understood my maker. if i had seen 19 straight performances of my lélio, i would have abandoned all decorum too." a line that made my skin crawl. lestat tries to put the blame on himself by framing magnus's stalking of him as something he tempted magnus into doing (even though lestat knows that that's not true), inviting objectification of himself by the mere fact that he's an actor in a theater. cue to his father calling the performers of commedia dell'arte whores and whoremasters. lestat attempting to frame himself as a whore presenting himself like an offering, and magnus as someone that just couldn't help himself but accept that offer.
and this is also something that armand does with the harlequin lestat fanfiction. give lestat the role of the cunning mastermind that acts a fool and frame the performance as an invitation to sexualize the performer, frame lestat as a seductress that wants to be sexualized, so then he can't blame anyone for taking the bait.
making it look like he was asking for it, asking for stalking and objectification and sexual assault when he made the choice to become a performer, when he never had and never will
