this dialogue with gerson. this peek into humanity in undertale. Ohhhh m
One thing I really appreciate about Puss in Boots is that near the end, when Puss and Kitty decide to name Perrito, Kitty says:
And Puss replies with:
In English, this sounds a little bit janky - you would probably say "He doesn't look like a Jeff" instead. But in Spanish you would say "No tiene cara de Jeff." Which, translated word for word, means "He doesn't have a Jeff's face."
Not sure if it was intentional or not, but this little detail highlights Puss' Spanish heritage in such a subtle way that I can't help but applaud the filmmakers for it! I've seen so many native Spanish speakers make the same mistake of translating phrases word for word in order to match their Spanish counterparts, and I think it's so adorable that Puss does this too.

i think we should swap yaoi and yuri tropes more. a pair of doomed teenage boys taking a break from their afterschool music club to go on a cute planetarium date, shyly brushing fingers while internal dialogue goes on and on about the purity of their relationship. on other side of town a lesbian is getting railed by a mafia boss.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES 2023, dir. Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Dale
LIVE ACTION PRACTICAL EFFECTS TABAXI
I recently watched this and was blown away by this entire scene. This was a one off pair of characters with no names and no lines. They exist entirely to demonstrate the paladin being a Good Person by saving a baby. After he does this, he goes and gives money to a beggar - who is a dragonborn. He is one of two dragonborn in the film, and neither one needs to be a dragonborn. It would have been so easy to make the tabaxi and dragonborn characters humans, or slap some ears on them to make them elves, and they didnāt. They really went out of their way, building practical effects for the tabaxi and dragonborn when they didnāt need to⦠this is a movie that loves its source material and it also loves being a movie. People working on this movie cared.
I really missed that.
#and the birdman#donāt forget the birdman YES! AND the birdman! Now the birdman couldnāt be human because Plot Reasons demanded he have wings, but he was also almost entirely practical effects!
This movie was so much fun, loved how lovingly made all of the creatures and effects were
I love Jarnathan
Oh! Oh, I have the artbook for this movie!!
Can confirm, Jarnathan (the aarakocra, or ābirdmanā as some people here call him) was all practical effects! His face was an animatronic mask, his feet were articulated high-heel shoes, and he had three fully-functional talon-like fingers on each hand too!
The directors Daley and Goldstein could have made him entirely CG, but they instead went to Legacy Effects, who specialize in prosthetics and animatronics and puppeteering, because they REALLY wanted Jarnathan to look and feel authentic.
According to the artbook, the wings on him were a backpack, a self-contained mechanism that weighed around 60 pounds. The wings extended open to about ten or eleven feet!
I love this movie! :D

ON THIS BLOG, WE RESPECT DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES!!!!!!!
My toxic trait is that I am far more interested in the socio-economic and geopolitical implications of ABO settings than the smut.
For example: I can't read any ABO AUs set in England or France because while I can suspend my disbelief far enough for a gender trinary set up, I can't suspend it enough to believe those two countries would still be distinct entities in a alternate history where Richard the Lionheart could have impregnated Philip II.
If there was a viable dynastic future with Richard, Philip would have climbed him like an oak and dragged him to the altar if he had to. It's a match that makes perfect sense from both their point of view: Philip gets Aquitaine back under French rule, the best general in Europe on his council, and powerful check on the Angevians....and unexpectedly (after Henry bites it) the entire Kingdom of England for his Capetian dynasty. Richard meanwhile gets to stick it to his father, secure Aquitaine's prosperity, and gets the leverage to start pushing for his mother's release. Then when Henry kicks the bucket Richard doesn't actually have to be King of England in anything but name: Philip can run the countries and unify the Crowns and what not while Richard runs off to go Crusading.
Plus they also like, loved each other and stuff and being able to get to be together long term instead of being torn apart by politics would have been cool. But I'm mainly obsessed with the historical implications and dynastic implications.
All this to say any ABO au set in England or France should mention that doesn't have them united as a singular Anglo-Frank empire is doing it wrong.
Hey gang for those of you waiting for my return just letting you know that running the muppet joker account has put a very real strain on my real life marriage and I have decided to step away from the blog for the foreseeable future.
I have been talking to her and everone else in my personal life "in character" as the muppet joker so that my blog would be as true to life as possible. I have been wearing Joker makeup around the house, which at first she found funny, but now she can't even look at me. I started compulsively fantasizing about the muppets and it's ruining our sex life. I accidentally called her Kermit in the bedroom and she made me sleep on the couch for a week.
Our son turned one year old this year on July 5th, on the day of Dashcon 2. My wife begged and pleaded with me to stay home and celebrate his birthday, but I was stupid and selfish and had become completely taken over by the muppet joker persona at that point. I went. I returned home to an ultimatum. Its my family, or it's the muppet joker. I chose my family.
Sorry tumblr. I have failed you. I have failed my wife. I have failed my son. I have to go now, to be with them, and to watch my child grow up.
Goodbye, Homosapiens

tbh im kinda sick of entire fandoms being treated like boogeymen who you need to avoid like the plague. yeah sure there are genshin fans and hazbin fans and dsmp fans and homestuck fans and kpop fans etc etc etc who are, diplomatically, annoying as all hell. and they all have their share of awful stories and toxic behavior that should not be tolerated. but 99% of the fans i meet are just regular people who happen to really like a thing?? and a LOT of them are teenage girls and queer people who happen to really like a thing. which im sure is Just A Coincidence And Has Nothing To Do With Their Reputation As Annoying. Probably.
