i know some people find it odd that tyler noticed something was off about luke before jj did but consider this: tyler was the one that just spent a bunch of time working closely with luke on a case while jj was off, dealing with her move. we even see it in the previous episode where tyler asks luke about why he's so glued to his phone.

it's not a character dig against jj that she didn't notice, it's just that she's literally not been around him while he's been going through this. and once jj got back it seems like luke just sequestered himself about it. the fact that tyler was with luke so much during that case and kind of only sort of noticed that maybe something was off about him shows how well luke has been hiding it. so jj having been back for what - a couple of days? and probably only having a couple short convos with luke, like hey how's it going here's my move update, and luke probably acted completely normally to her (as we see luke shake off his elevator breakdown to be laughing and happy with his old friend 30 seconds later), seems reasonable to me that jj would not have picked up on it

I think this is exactly it!

Luke is incredibly good at compartmentalizing, especially around people he thinks have enough on their plate already. His instinct is usually to carry things himself rather than risk adding to someone else's burden.
