jokes to make after failure that aren’t self-deprecating:
I’m the best to ever do it
Nobody saw that (best if said loudly)
No one’s ever done it like me
I could be President/they should make me President
Behold, a mere fraction of my power!
The public wants to be me soooooo bad
I’m an expert in (thing you just failed at)
How could this have happened to god’s favorite princess?
Nothing ibuprofen and a glass of water cant fix
I’m being sabotaged
the more i watch star trek tos, the more it becomes abundantly clear that the reason why modern trek doesnt get kirk at all is because they dont utilise mccoy nearly as much anymore
in modern trek, they always present the idea of logic vs emotion, with spock being logic and kirk being emotion, but thats not how tos has it. in tos, the logic vs emption debate is spock vs mccoy. kirk is supposed to be the mediator between the two, sometimes siding with one side over the other, sometimes finding a middle ground between the two. thats why hes the captain, hes able to see all angles and pick the best course
when you make kirk the emotional one, it completely breaks the format, because 9 time out of 10, it means kirk has to be correct. theres no more balance
mccoy is just as important to tos as spock is, and while i do understand why spock is as popular as he is, without mccoy, the show doesnt work. you need them both. kirk spock and mccoy are the three leads of the show, and removing one requires you to change the others, which is whats happened to kirk
I'm just saying, if you're going to worldbuild magic being a "raw, primal force, akin to and interweaving with nature itself" you gotta explain to me why animals don't use it
thats where youre wrong, they do
not now kitten. daddy's realizing that the scene he invested 1000 words into could be significantly improved but only if he started over from scratch
dehumanization as horror is great and all but what about humanization as horror. Being forced into a role that was not made for you. Being forced to fulfill expectations that you can never achieve. Being made to exist in a society that so cruelly expects you to act in a way that is against your nature.
writing about this rn actually
I know nothing about puppetry or making puppets, but just once it would be fun to make one of those hand puppet-costumes where your real arm is in the puppet and your costume has a seamlessly blending puppet arm that's holding the creature. I'd like to make one that's got super realistic natural-looking fur, with a face that's tucked in against my body, so from any disance it'd look like a cat or very small dog sleeping face down while being held. And if anyone comes in like ooh I didn't know they allow pets in here, what is that?
Sike! It's a creature.
as someone whose partner is an MA in puppetry…you can just make a puppet. you Should make a puppet. puppets are the best and theres loads of resources out there to make them bc the only thing puppeteers love more than making puppets is seeing other people make puppets. currently outside a puppetry show btw
im no longer warning people about the sixties sfx in tos instead grabbing them by the shoulders and screaming there are aliens made of bubble wrap and latex and so much glitter. most of the episodes are blatantly filmed in southern california or three rotating sets featuring either pink orange or blue rocks. people jump off walls and pirouette when they get "punched". the ship beeps. a lot. too much for realism. spock goes into heat. dont worry about it. the point is there is no BUT. im not going to say "its very silly but its fun" ENOUGH! it's silly AND it's fun!!!!you will learn to love it all because when was the last time you looked at bubble wrap and a back garden and saw another world? remember how much fun it was? do you want to try again?!?!! do you want to play!!!!
no joke this is how i got my friends to watch their first trek stuff with me and a year later we’re planning a star trek ttrpg campaign
i looove drawin like shit
your honour Them
Riker's life just flashed before his eyes
I am using Discworld to figure out how to use Procreate. Also...it was nice challenge to draw just dialogue scene in slapstick way. Ughhh...I would love to spend year or two drawing Feet of Clay graphic novel, I love that book so much x_x ...and I have no job just now...I should ask around...about how licences works or something.... .
im always saying this

despite the fact that jud's form and view of christianity is a very pleasant one, i appreciate that no part of benoit blanc is converted. it's not like i expected benoit to become a christian obviously, but i expected him to potentially stay for a service at the end, when invited. or to show appreciation for what jud is building at his church. even just appreciation that he's welcome.
after the whole movie, when benoit is given the invite, he still says there's nothing he wants less than to stay in that church. it's very, very reasonable and realistic of a traumatized atheist, but i almost never see it depicted in this way. usually they come around to "see the beauty" in one way or another. i just really appreciate that they didn't do that.
i could do it i could bring star trek back from the brink of riverdaleisation and revive it with beautiful practical effects and meaningful political and philosophical questions and of course sick ass aliens but no one will give me the rights to the franchise because i have "zero writing or production experience" and "who even are you" and "how did you get past security". but i could do it.
help, it's again
as more information about trump's involvement with epstein comes out, please be sure not to dismiss it with "we have known this whole time." yes of course we did, we all did, but please react like this is the biggest news of the century. make people talk about it. make people listen.
i am already seeing maga people dismiss minors as "young women who just wanted to be around the wealthy and powerful". they are already trying to make it less fucking terrible than it is. they are relying on you being burnt out. stand up and take back the term protecting the children.
do not let platform-appropriate censorship diminish what actually happened. look them dead in the eye and say, "are you fucking stupid? that's child rape. those are children." use the word rape. use the word child. say what actually happened.
do not let them draw you into "well what if X person did it" strawmen arguments. just come back to the original thesis, over and over. trump did do it, though. this is not about X, it is about him. do not let them create some strange if-then narrative of if she was over 15 - say i don't care her age, she was a minor, he had no excuse. if he can't control himself around children, he should not be a president. they are going to do anything to dodge this. they are going to do whatever they can to avoid admitting their involvement.
this is a huge fucking deal. do not allow them to avoid it.
